1 Global Learning Scholarship Program Guidelines 2015 Overview The Global Learning Scholarship Program is offered through joint collaboration between Global Education Skills Alliance and TAFE Queensland Brisbane. The Global Learning Scholarship Program will be offered in the eligible programs of Health and Aged Care, Hospitality and Tourism, Business and Information Technology, and Creative Arts progressively. Students will have the opportunity to be involved in study tours, study abroad programs and serviced learning initiatives, for example work placement and internships, which aim to: develop capacity, capability, cultural learning, and leadership skills so that individuals can contribute to development outcomes in their home country; support global mobility of students worldwide and as such they will actively promote exchanges of students between organisations and institutions; build people-to-people links at the individual, college/institutional and country levels to enhance career options. Funds are available for those currently studying at a Global Education Skills Alliance Member Institution, up to the value of $5, Eligibility Enrolled and participating student at TAFE Queensland Brisbane in one the following programs at time of application: - Diploma of Fashion; and - Advanced Diploma of Fashion. Proven sound academic achievement at GESA Education Member Institution; Good standing at GESA Education Member Institution; Applicants must have undertaken their education in English or can produce evidence of English language proficiency;

2 Approved to participate in a mobility or service learning initiative in GESA Education Member countries or an approved non-member education partner country; Additionally, applicants citizenship status must fall into one of GESA s Member locations; International students are ineligible to apply; Applicants must be able to meet the necessary visa requirements for entering host country; and Please note: Applicants must have a valid and current passport or be prepared to immediately apply for an Australian passport. Application Instructions To be considered to receive a Global Learning Scholarship, students must submit an application consisting of the Scholarship Application Form with Declaration signature, an Applicant Statement, and two Letters of Recommendation. Together, all documents are to be ed to admin@gesa-edu.org. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applicant Statement The Applicant Statement should be no more than one page, typed. Applicants should consider the following with regard to their program of study: 1. Explain how this scholarship will help you to study abroad or gain work experience. 2. Explain how you anticipate studying abroad will impact on your education and career pathways and personal life. 3. Why should you be considered for this scholarship? Letters of Recommendation Letters of Recommendation should be from teachers, instructors, or community leaders who may speak to the student s education and community standing. Scholarship Round The fifth round of the Global Learning Scholarship Program (GLSP) opens on Tuesday 5 th May 2015 and closes on Friday 22 nd May The GLSP application form can be downloaded at and an information session on How to apply will be hosted at TAFE Queensland Brisbane, Mt Gravatt Campus G3 on Wednesday 6 th May, 2015 at p.m. Applicants must their application to admin@gesa-edu.org by 5.00 pm on the closing

Funds The scholarship funds may only be used for material fees, textbooks, student ID card, payment towards mobility expenses (flights and accommodation), insurances, meals and any other fees associated with your educational program or serviced learning initiative. Expenditure of the scholarship funds will be discussed with the successful applicant at an initial meeting. Presentation/Recognition The Global Learning Scholarship winner will be announced in conjunction with an event arranged by TAFE Queensland Brisbane. You will receive more information closer to the date. A photograph of the donor, sponsor and honoree will be taken and displayed for marketing purposes. Student Code of Conduct Successful applicants must adhere to the Institute s code of conduct and student rules when embarking on activities through the Global Learning Scholarship Program. Failure to adhere to these rules may result in withdrawal from the program. Additional Requirements Upon completion of the Global Learning Scholarship Program, recipients will be required to present a short follow-up presentation highlighting their experience abroad.
