4 Flexible thinking and fearless solutions create lasting client value Managing the logistics around existing operations is a huge strength of Spaceframe that translates straight to the bottom line Kilcoy Pastoral Company, Kilcoy QLD Weis Frozen Foods, Toowoomba QLD Completed in 30 weeks, ahead of time in May 2009, and on budget, this project was a significant expansion of the existing abattoir works at Winya, QLD. The new 2,000m2 building houses a 25,000m3 proprietary freezer tunnel facility and is a perfect example of a quality cold storage, food process project delivered The Spaceframe Way. The project features portal frame construction with insulated panel cladding and a metal clad skirt, together with internal food grade finishes including epoxy floors. It also included full mechanical and electrical design solutions for both the new and existing plant. Work was undertaken within the constraints of day to day operations of the existing works, with significant coordination required for extension break throughs and connection of services to existing infrastructure. Expansion of Weis Frozen Foods was undertaken at their existing site over a 30 week Design and Construction program and was completed ahead of time and on budget in December The project included 880m2 of freezer storage, 1,000m2 for food processing and 460m2 of new office space. Built using quality portal frame construction with insulated panel cladding and metal clad skirt, the project features state-of-the-art food process equipment, layout and internal food grade finishes including epoxy floors. Full mechanical and electrical design solutions are integrated into both new and existing plant with critical coordination of shutdown works required to avoid disruption of business operations during commissioning. These measures are constantly reviewed and reset to higher benchmarks to drive continuous improvement and the program has been independently audited and compliance certified by Pegasus Safety.
