How we perform Delivering cost and risk certainty on a Victorian oil pipeline CNC is currently working on a major pipeline project in Victoria s South Gippsland region. This project involves replacing a 186km crude oil pipeline between Longford and Long Island Point. In the early stages of the project, CNC helped to prepare and submit the environmental approvals, permitting and licencing. Our project team is now: Successfully negotiating access with more than 320 landowners Completing property management plans Negotiating extra work space and easement agreements to allow safe and seamless construction. We have now secured most of the easements and leases. As a result, our client has the confidence that work can be completed safely with minimal disruption to landowners and communities. Driving best-for-project outcomes with Spiecapag Lucas Joint Venture Spiecapag Lucas Joint Venture engaged CNC to help deliver two major projects; the $85m Northern Trunklines project in Queensland and the $140m Eastern Goldfields project in Western Australia. Fully integrated into the project team, we are performing a broad range of environmental duties, minimising downtime and driving better outcomes. CNC s multi-skilled environmental professionals are: Providing environmental planning and onsite management Undertaking fauna handling, erosion and sediment control, and environmental monitoring. We are also implementing the award-winning Back of the Ute soil test procedure on these projects, which quickly identifies soil type to determine topsoil stripping depth during clear-and-grade works. Specialist advice on Melbourne Water s capital works projects CNC has an ongoing relationship with Melbourne Water. We provide specialist advice and guidance on individual projects, as well as capital works planning and strategy. To date, we have successfully: Scoped approvals for over 300 projects to be delivered over the next five years Progressed environmental approvals and engaged stakeholders on the $225m Western Treatment Plant upgrade (Stages 1 and 2), avoiding lengthy delays to the project Supervised and audited construction contractors engagement activities, providing Melbourne Water with confidence that quality practices are in place. CNC is proudly certified to Quality Environmental Management Occupational Health & Safety

Project planning, advice and management CNC Project Management has a multi-disciplinary team of Project Managers who lead and deliver practical outcomes for our clients. We adopt a staged approach to project delivery based on clear objectives, agreed milestones and approval gateways. We often work with clients to help refine a project scope at the outset. For longer-term projects, we work side-by-side with our clients to scope each stage individually. This enables us to assess risks and opportunities as new information arises, and it provides clarity and certainty for future stages. CNC can take a client s vision for the infrastructure project and find the optimal site or alignment. We provide options that balance constraints and opportunities to help make informed decisions. Under the leadership of our experienced Project Managers, CNC is able to deliver centralised reporting and procurement. This helps us to better overcome project risks, gain efficiencies and ease often time-consuming procurement processes for our clients. Our Project Managers have the following important skills: Subject matter knowledge - We pride ourselves on understanding our clients needs and the industries in which we work. Our Project Managers have well-rounded technical know-how and experience. As a result, we ask the right questions and make sound decisions Robust tools and techniques - We draw on proven project and program management methods, tools and templates. These tools enable us to bring different teams together to produce cohesive, high quality deliverables Friendly and easy to work with - It makes a difference when you work with great people and tackle day-to-day issues together. Our Project Managers are excellent listeners. We communicate clearly and consistently. Our project management services: Project conceptualisation Strategy and problem-solving Overseeing options analysis and technical design Specialist studies Constraints studies Health and safety Cost control Scheduling Contracting and procurement Quality assurance Contact Dave Maloney, CNC s Managing Director, to find out more:
Permitting and approvals CNC Project Management plans and leads regulatory approval processes on infrastructure projects. We pride ourselves on our knowledge of environmental and planning requirements from Federal, State and Local authorities across Australia. Working together with our engagement and environmental teams, CNC s permitting and approval specialists develop comprehensive and fit-for-purpose deliverables. We capture stakeholder and community feedback early and champion key environmental and planning risks to be considered during design development. As a result, unnecessary delays can be avoided from the outset. It is vital to involve key agencies and stakeholders in the approvals process. At CNC, we understand their needs and expectations. We leverage our longstanding and extensive relationships with regulators to help achieve a smooth approvals process and resolve issues quickly. Our priority is to secure the necessary permits and planning approvals within the shortest practical timeline, as well as maximise positive environmental and community outcomes wherever possible. We can achieve both objectives in a cost effective manner. Drawing on our industry knowledge, we prepare documentation that is both compliant with the required legislation and practical to implement on site. This approach strengthens our clients ability to maintain compliance, governance and control for the duration of the project. Once we have secured the required approvals and permits, we can help prepare Construction Environmental Management Plans and on-ground field implementation of environmental conditions. As well as developing site specific sub-plans, we are able to supply Environmental Field Officers and in-field Senior Environmental Managers on short-term or long-term secondments. Our permitting and approvals services: Environmental and Social Impact Assessments Statutory permits, approvals and licencing Permitting strategy, pathways and timeframes Referrals and assessments Primary and secondary project approvals Survey access approvals Contact Ian Spence, CNC s General Manager Environment, to find out more:
Environmental management CNC Project Management helps clients comply with their environmental commitments, as well as manage and improve environmental performance on infrastructure projects. Our award-winning environmental team has a diverse skill set. We are committed to working efficiently on projects and we achieve this by providing our clients with multi-skilled, flexible and well-rounded qualified environmental practitioners. As a result, we deliver value for money and on-the-ground innovations. For example, instead of supplying a practitioner with only one specialist area, such as a Fauna Handler, we offer our clients Environmental Field Officers who are qualified in fauna handling. These officers also have a range of other skills in setting up on-the-ground environmental conditions and undertaking compliance reporting. We work efficiently and minimise downtime, while building relationships with the construction workforce. CNC Project Management has designed and implemented a unique in-house training and competency assessment program. This allows us to enhance the skills of our team members and deliver consistent, high quality outcomes for our clients. CNC s innovative Back of the Ute Soil Test Procedure won the Australian Pipelines and Gas Association s (APGA) 2014 Environment Award. This procedure is an inventive simplified method for rapid soil testing along a construction right-of-way. This is a practical example of how we add value to the projects we are involved in and drive on-ground efficiencies. As well as environmental field work, our experienced Certified Environmental Practitioners (CEnvPs) and Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Practitioners (CPESCs) prepare technical reports. Our environmental systems, plans and procedures are practical, targeted and easy-to-implement in the field. As a strong contributor in the pipeline industry for many years, CNC led the review of APGA s Code of Environmental Practice in Our proven management frameworks enable us to implement, manage, measure and report on environmental outcomes in a transparent and accountable way. Our environmental management services: Environmental planning and management Environmental Management System preparation and auditing Risk assessments On-site implementation of environmental approvals conditions Compliance auditing Fauna handling Cultural heritage management Erosion and sediment control planning, preparation and implementation Contact Ian Spence, CNC s General Manager Environment, to find out more:
Engagement and Land Access At CNC Project Management, we recognise that community and stakeholder involvement is critical to a project s success. We value communities knowledge and perspectives when developing solutions and we respect their right to have an input and be heard. Our professional engagement and land access team has decades of experience connecting with the community and gaining the support of those who live and work in the area. CNC has successfully negotiated hundreds of land access agreements for our clients, who trust our experienced and friendly team to engage openly and honestly with landowners. We work side-by-side with our clients and landowners to create a shared understanding of their individual interests and objectives. This enables both parties to move forward and agree on a solution. Our experienced team frequently prepares and implements Engagement Plans. With a robust and well-implemented plan, our clients can achieve community acceptance and understanding about the project, its purpose and benefits. We believe that engagement is unique on every project. We work with engineers, designers and construction teams to assess the risks and opportunities before we decide on the best way to engage stakeholders and the community. The following principles to managing issues are ingrained in our thinking: Prevention we anticipate and manage issues at the source Planning we conduct detailed planning for known issues Proactive behaviours we engage from day one and seek stakeholder and community feedback to prevent issues escalating. We are experienced in working with Indigenous community groups and individuals. We have a strong track record in obtaining native title agreements and negotiating Indigenous Land Use Agreements. CNC has a strong record engaging with government decision-makers and influencers. We are able to progress your project by developing Government Liaison Plans, working with government departments to secure approvals, and working with regulators and statutory authorities at all levels.
