Minutes of the 14 th District Grand Council of Kent meeting of the District Grand Council of the Allied Masonic Degrees for Kent held at the Franklin rooms, Gillingham, Kent. Saturday 19 th February Viggers and distinguished guests and visitors of the District of Kent were received into the District Council meeting and were seated. Again, the Brethren were called to Order by the District Grand Director of Ceremonies and the District Grand Prefect for Kent, R.W.Bro. Clive Robert Manuel, accompanied by the Deputy District Grand Prefect for Kent, R.W.Bro. Terence Albert Denis Bowler and the District Officers of District Grand Council entered in procession. District Grand Tyler There were 76 Brethren from the District of Kent and 26 guests present, a total of 102 Allied Masons according to the signing in registers. The District Grand Council of Kent was then opened in due and ancient form with solemn prayer at a.m. The Brethren were called to Order by the District Grand Director of Ceremonies and the District Grand Prefect was saluted. R.W.Bro. Clive Robert Manuel then welcomed the guests of the District of Kent: R.W.Bro. Roger Freeman, the District Grand Prefect for Devon & Cornwall R.W.Bro. David Green along with Right Worshipful Brother Roland J. Wade the past Provincial Grand Master for the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons for Kent. From the United Religious, Military and Masonic Orders of the Temple the Provincial Prior for Kent Right Eminent Knight Kessick John Jones who is also the Grand Director of Ceremonies in the Allied Masonic Degrees and his Provincial Sub Prior Very Eminent Knight Peter John McIntyre, who is also the Deputy District Grand Master for the Order of Royal and Select Masters, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master for the Royal Order of Scotland Provincial Grand Lodge of Kent, as well as the Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies in the Allied Masonic Degrees. From the Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests, the Grand Superintendant for District Number five Right Eminent Knight Paul Butler. From the Order of Royal and Select Masters, the District Grand Master for Kent, Right Illustrious Companion Roger Joseph Ernest O Brien. From the Order of the Secret Monitor, the Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler for Kent Right Worthy Brother John Alfred Dalley and his Deputy Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler, Worthy Brother Ralph Manning Apperley. And from the Order of Athelstan, the Provincial Grand Master for Kent Right Worshipful Brother Howard Francis Doe who is also a past Deputy Grand Supreme ruler in the Order of the Secret Monitor for Kent. Right Worshipful Brother, John Bonomy the past Provincial Grand Master for the United Grand Lodge of England, Province of East Kent, a past Deputy Intendant General of the Masonic and Military Orders of the Red Cross of Constantine Division of Kent, who is also a Past Grand Senior Warden in the Allied Masonic Degrees. Right Worshipful Brother, Noel Alfred Brian Grout, the past Provincial Grand Supreme Ruler for Kent of the Order of the Secret Monitor a past Provincial Sub Prior for Kent of the United Religious, Military and Masonic Orders of the Temple, who is also a Past Grand Senior Warden in the Allied Masonic Degrees. Worshipful Brother, Roger William Odd the Deputy Provincial Grand Master for the United Grand Lodge of England, Province of East Kent. Worshipful Brother John Alfred Edmondson, the Past Grand Superintendant for District Number five for the Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests, past Intendant General for Kent of the Masonic and Military Orders of the Red Cross of Constantine and a past Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons, Province of Kent. Worshipful Brother Ian Wilson Tough, the past Deputy Provincial Grand Master for the Royal Order of Scotland Provincial Grand Lodge of Kent, as well as the past Deputy Master Mason 5th degree in the Worshipful Society of Free Masons, Rough Masons, Wallers, Slaters, Paviour, Plasterers and Bricklayers. The Brethren were called to Order by the District Grand Director of Ceremonies and the Right Worshipful Brethren were saluted in due form. R.W.Bro. Roger Freeman thanked the Brethren for their Allied Masonic salutations and on behalf of all the Right Worshipful Brethren greeted all present well. The minutes of the 13 th District Grand Council of the Allied Masonic Degrees for Kent held on Saturday 20 th February 2010 having been circulated to all the Brethren of the District of Kent were confirmed and accepted as a true record. Since the last District meeting of Kent the District Grand Prefect rose to read the names of Brethren from the District who had passed to higher service since the last meeting of District Grand Council: R.W.Bro. Roy Albert John Williams Thursday 3 rd June 2010 Past District Grand Prefect for Kent. W.Bro. Julian Vane Friday 10 th September 2010 West Kent Council 66 W.Bro. Victor Rae Musk Langton Tuesday 14 th September Hartley Council 74 were remembered. The Brethren stood in silence to departed merit while the District Grand Chaplain W.Bro. Rev. Howard Pashley read the eulogy. The District Grand Secretary, W.Bro. Jason Cameron-Potter called the roll of Councils in the District of Kent. All were represented. This was followed by his report for the year, a copy which forms part of these minutes. The District Grand Treasurer, W.Bro. Philip Clare rose and presented the accounts for the District Grand Council of Kent which had been circulated with the summons for the District meeting. Account examiners W.Bro Paul Butler and Raymond Hudson both rose and commented on their findings. The newly admitted brethren admitted to the Order in Kent since the last annual District meeting were received and welcomed by the District Grand Prefect. These Brethren were: Bro s: David Smith and Alan Stirling, both from the Invicta Council number 54, and Les Smith of the Hartley Council number 74. The District Grand Prefect presented them each with a Grid Iron lapel badge. The District Grand Prefect announced that he had received only one name for Treasurer, W.Bro. Philip C. Clare of the Hartley Council and declared him elected as the District Treasurer for the ensuing year. W.Bro s Paul Butler and Raymond Hudson were both re-elected District account examiners for the ensuing year. W.Bro s. Butler and Hudson both rose and accepted the duties of the post. W.Bro s Roger Odd and Jody Townsend were both elected to serve on the Executive Committee of District Council. W.Bro s Odd and Townsend both rose and accepted the duties of the posts.
4 The District Grand Prefect for Kent, R.W.Bro. Clive Robert Manuel, then re-appointed R.W.Bro. Terence Albert Denis Bowler as the Deputy District Grand Prefect for Kent, to which R.W.Bro. Bowler accepted with thanks. Viggers and the Deputy District Grand Prefect for Kent R.W.Bro. Terence Albert Denis Bowler was saluted in due form. The District Grand Prefect for Kent, R.W.Bro. District Grand Tyler The District Grand Prefect then gave his address to the District Grand Council of Kent, a copy which forms part of these minutes. Alms were collected and amounted to of which 259 was gift aided, thus realising an additional The District Grand Prefect announced that the Invicta Council No 54 would hold an emergency meeting prior to the District meeting in 2012 and perform the degree of Knights of Constantinople. The District Grand Secretary, W.Bro. J. Cameron-Potter rose and reported the apologies of nine District Grand Prefects, thirteen Deputy District Grand Prefects, eleven District Grand Secretaries and ten men of Kent and seven Kentish men. He then went on to announce that the next District Grand Council meeting for Kent would be held on Saturday 18 th February 2012 again at the Franklin rooms. District Grand Council was closed in due and ancient form at 1.32 p.m. Viggers and the District Grand Prefect for Kent, R.W.Bro. Clive Robert Manuel accompanied by the Deputy District Grand Prefect, R.W.Bro. Terence Albert Denis Bowler and the District Officers of District Grand Council retired in procession. W.Bro. J. 5 Prior to the meeting of District Grand Council an emergency meeting of the White Cliffs of Dover Council No. 210 was held during which two candidates were admitted into the Degree of Masons Elect of Twenty Seven and created Grand Tiler s of Solomon.
