A lot of cities have special colours for their taxis yellow cabs in New York, the famous black London taxis, and green and white VW cabs in Mexico City. You can stop a taxi in the street raise your hand in the air, and shout, Taxi! there s usually a sign or a light on the taxi to tell you if it s free. You can normally find taxis at stations or ask your hotel to call you a cab. Taxis are usually the safest way to travel in a city you don t know, but they can be expensive, and it s a good idea to ask how much the fare is before you start your journey.
