2 Course Descriptions: Wednesday, April 2, 2014: A025 Transponders A Instructor: Ed Woods, CML, CPS This class covers On Board Programming, Cloning, Re-Chipping, and recycling of keys. It starts off with an introduction to transponders and basic key terminology. It will cover adding and generating keys to systems where programmers are not necessary. It will also cover in great detail the various cloning tool on the market. In addition to all of that we will be re-chipping and recycling keys. We will also discuss various marketing ideas to improve sales of these expensive keys. Cloning tool will include those made by Ilco, Strattec, Jet, Bianchi, Advanced Diagnostics, and Zed Bull. Thursday, April 3, 2014: A026 Transponders B Instructor: Ed Woods, CML, CPS This class will cover transponder programming using machines that hook up to the automobile. For the most part Multi Vehicle Programmers will be discussed. There will be brief discussions on dedicated programmers. The afternoon portion will be dedicated to keyless entry remotes and there programming. Cloning will not be covered in this class as we will cover that subject and the basics in Transponders A. This class will also have a discussion on repairing and servicing of the most common ignition lock failures. SV006 Safe Lock Servicing and Troubleshooting Instructor: Grey Woodyear, CRL This course will feature the basics of combination locks as well as a discussion on the different makes and models. Students will also learn how to disassemble and reassemble combination locks. They will also learn to change combinations and determine what numbers should or should not be used. There will also be hands-on dialing diagnostics and troubleshooting. When the student leaves this class they should feel confident about changing combinations, proper servicing of the lock and be able to do some dialing diagnostics that will enable them to open many malfunctioning safe locks without drilling. Materials students should bring to class: Medium size common and #2 Philips screwdrivers, diagonal pliers and pencil and paper for any notes they want to make. The information presented will be useful in preparing for PRP Section L- 24 & L-33 and STPRP Section S-00.

3 Course Descriptions (cont): Friday, April 4, 2014: A027 Modern Automotive Key Generation Instructor: Ed Woods, CML, CPS This class is for the student who is in need of knowledge on making the keys that they will be programming with transponder equipment. Yes the code services are great when they are available but knowing how to make the keys almost as fast as they can reply is the best and knowledge is power. The instructor generates from scratch 99.5% of all the keys he makes so he will be sharing his knowledge of tool and tips on how to make these keys all the time. In the afternoon session locks and tools will be provided to practice the methods taught. In addition there will be a discussion on repairing the most common auto lock failures. SV002 Electronic Safe Lock Servicing Instructor: Grey Woodyear, CRL 8 hour This one day class will focus on the features of locks from the most popular electronic safe lock from Amsec, LaGard/Kaba Mas, and Sargent & Greenleaf. You will learn installation tips and techniques, combination changing, programming various functions and many troubleshooting tips. The class will include a demonstration of various electronic safe lock defeat methods. Note taking and photography is welcomed in this class. This is a MUST class if you wish to stay abreast of the technologies in the electronic safe lock field. SL017 Multipoint Hardware & Profile Cylinder Servicing Instructor: David Thielen, CML This course will explore the various multi-point lock systems in use today with popular door manufacturers such as Pella, Andersen, Marvin and others. Learn how to service brands such as Hoppe, GU, Amesbury, Imperial and others. Resources for obtaining tools, parts and cylinders will be provided. There will also be detailed instruction on rekeying and servicing the various types of profile cylinders. Sunday, April 6, 2014 B012 Life Safety Codes w/ethics Instructor: David Thielen CML, CHI, CAI This is a must class for the locksmith/security professional of the 21st Century. The areas covered will include the new International Building Code, IBC 2006 Chapters 3, 4, 10 & 11. The National Fire Protection Association, NFPA , NFPA , Underwriters Laboratories product listings, and ADA Act of Each student will leave with a clear understanding of how the building and fire codes work. Each student will receive a manual for a future reference guide. Lab Fee $45.00 for the class manual. The information presented will be useful in preparing for PRP section L-07.

4 Instructor Bios: Ed Woods, CML, CPS is an automotive locksmithing specialist with many years working in the automotive industry. Ed is a consultant to many manufacturers of automotive locksmithing related tools and equipment and is a Certified ACE Instructor, a long time member of ALOA and has taught automotive locksmithing classes at ALOA conventions and at ACE class events. Ed is a two time recipient (2006 and 2008) of the ALOA Continuing Education (ACE) Instructor of the Year award which is presented annually by the ALOA Training Department. He most recently was a co-recipient of the inaugural Ray D Adamo ACE Instructor award in Grey R. Woody Woodyear, CRL Woody is an ACE Certified Instructor who works as a locksmith, safe technician, and instructor in Austin, Texas. Woody started his career in Washington D.C. servicing many Government Agency safes, high security systems, and keyless mechanical locks. Now in Austin, he is involved in all levels of Locksmithing and specializes in Safe work of all types. As an instructor for the Associated Locksmiths of America, he has taught classes in Safe Servicing, Electronic Safe Locks, Fundamentals of Locksmithing, SFIC, Ethics, Safe Deposit Locks, Professional Lockpicking, and Impressioning. He has also taught classes in Keyless Mechanical Locks, and specialized courses for the U.S. Military and Defense Industries. In addition, during Woody s long, colorful career, he has served the FBI, Air Force One, DEA, Secret Service, Immigrations Customs and Enforcement, U.S. Justice Department, FDA, Health and Human Services, EPA, and has served as an expert witness in court. David E. Thielen, CML is the lockshop manager for Adams Twelve Five Star School District, Broomfield, Colorado. David has been a professional locksmith for more than 25 years a member of RMLA and DHI and a member of ALOA since He has instructed classes for the Rocky Mountain Locksmiths Association and has developed and instructed ACE certified classes for ALOA at regional and national conventions. David is a two time winner of the ALOA Continuing Education (ACE) Instructor of the Year award which is presented annually by the ALOA Training Department. He most recently was a corecipient of the inaugural Ray D Adamo ACE Instructor award in 2013.
