1 REVIEWERS OF PORT-OFF-FOLIO INTERNATIONAL PORTFOLIO REVIEW 2015 AGATA STOIŃSKA Ireland Founder of BLOW Photo Magazine and D-Light studios (Dublin, Ireland). BLOW is a large format image-based publication featuring both emerging and established photographers from around the world. D-Light studios is a large multimedia space promoting the development of photography, fashion and television art industries. Agata is also co-founder of the online fashion magazine Maven46. As editor of BLOW, she is looking for artists that surprise and who prove that things can be done differently. She is particularly interested in artistic practices that challenge understanding of the photographic medium, as well as thoughtprovoking, sensitively conceived, visually coherent, and engaging projects addressing contemporary issues whether abstract or concrete. AGATA UBYSZ Art historian, curator and PR manager. She has worked as fashion desk head and editor-in-chief in women magazines in and Switzerland form many years. From 2010 to 2013, she worked for Musée de l Elysée, a museum of photography in Lausanne, Switzerland. In 2013, together with Katarzyna Borucka owner of Lookout Gallery, she founded the Lookout Photography Development Foundation, aimed to support activities of the gallery which promote and present, in particular, works of Polish and international emerging artists. Agata runs Trafo Media Lab an exhibition programme which combines photography and video art in Trafostacja Sztuki (Szczecin, ) since the beginning of She is interested in works that combine art and commerce and in experiments with portraiture and self-portraiture. She helps young artists in composing their portfolios and provides advice on art market, PR strategy and promotion. ALISON NORDSTRÖM USA Independent writer and curator. Formerly Founding Director and Senior Curator of the Southeast Museum of Photography, and Senior Curator of Photographs/Director of Exhibitions at George Eastman House. She has worked with students of photography, art and photographic preservation at numerous international institutions. Alison is the author of over 100 published essays on photographic topics, and has curated over 100 photographic exhibitions in nine countries. She also holds a PhD in Cultural and Visual Studies.
2 ANA CATARINA PINHO Portugal Founder of Archivo Photography & editor of its quarterly photography magazine, ArchivoZine. She recently started directing a cultural and educational program - Archivo Studio - in Porto (Portugal). Ana works as assistant professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto and as freelance photographer. Her projects have been published and exhibited worldwide. She is interested in documentary approaches, critical imagery, photography at the cross-borders of genres, the use of fiction and storytelling to create photo series or narratives, and also the creation and editing of photo books. She is interested in reviewing both complete and work-in-progress series, seeking potential authors to cooperate with ArchivoZine. ÂNGELA FERREIRA Portugal Director/curator of Encontros da Imagem photofestival (Braga, Portugal). Professor of Photography at the Porto School of Fine Arts, she just finished her PhD thesis in Visual Communication at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Ângela has contributed with articles to several magazines, interviewed international artists, and introduced their work into the Portuguese scene. She is especially interested in photo-essays and documentary-oriented work, as well as compelling work addressing contemporary issues whether abstract or concrete. She is looking for well-edited portfolios to include in Encontros da Imagem and other events related with photography. CAROL KÖRTING Germany After collaborating with De-bug Magazine, Zeit-magazin and Der Freitag, in 2009 she became photo-editor and scout photographer for LFI the independent magazine which features the best Leica photographers and M Magazine the bookquality magazine exclusively dedicated to Leica M photography. Carol is also in charge of the Leica M loan program, which lends cameras to photographers worldwide. She taught at the Berlin Masterclass workshop in She is interested in meeting both documentary and art photographers, in order to consider them to publish in the printed or digital editions of LFI and M Magazine.
3 CELINA LUNSFORD Germany Artistic director and curator of the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt (FFF) the exhibition centre devoted to international photographic arts - and Vice President of the Deutsche Fotografische Akademie (DFA). Throughout her career she has curated and lectured in Asia, Europe, and the USA, covering historical and contemporary aspects of the medium. She has edited and published numerous publications on photography. Celina has been jury member for the Prix Pictet Award for Photography and the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize Academy. In 2013 she was the guest juror of the European Publishers Award for Photography and the Carmignac Gestion Photojournalism Award. She is continually looking for contemporary photographic work to include in exhibitions or to write about. CHRISTINA CAPETILLO Denmark Associate Professor at the Institute for Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape, School of Architecture at Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Christina is a photographer and photographic theorist with a specialized interest in the vernacular built landscape. She has exhibited worldwide and has been internationally awarded several times for her work. CHRISTOPHER RAUSCHENBERG USA Christopher Rauschenberg was born in New York in 1951 and has practiced photographic art since He has a B.A. in photography from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington and taught photography and art from 1982 to He has photographed in 31 countries on 5 continents. He has had 113 solo shows and numerous group shows. Available monographs of his work include four books, eight print-on-demand books and a deck of cards. He is a co-founder of Portland's Blue Sky Gallery, where he has co-curated and co-produced 794 solo exhibitions by 675 artists and 50 group shows, and a cofounder member of the Portland co-op Nine Gallery. In 1995, he founded the Portland Grid Project, a 20 year, 50,000 image look at every square mile of the city of Portland, Oregon by 34 photographers. He is also the president of the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. He was the 2003 Bonnie Bronson Fellow and his work is in the collections of 11 major museums.
4 ENRICA VIGANÒ Italy Freelance curator and writer. Owner of Admira Milan based agency dedicated to the organization of cultural events in photography. She has curated international travelling exhibitions and has collaborated with the organization of events as PHotoEspaña. Enrica has been also the artistic director of Foto&Foto Photography Festival (Brianza, Italy) and ClicArt Art gallery dedicated to emerging photographers. Member of the Milan Image Art Fair Scientific Committee, she organizes Codice Mia a portfolio review completely focused on photographic market. She works with publishing companies and founded her own, Admira Edizioni. She is interested in images that can be included in the wide universe of fine art photography. She prefers projects that have a concept behind and series that can be presented in an exhibition, always interested in enlarging her network of new talents. GRAŻYNA SANIUK Editor-in-chief of Twój-Styl Magazine and one of the most experienced photography editors in. Grażyna has led classes in photography edition at the European Academy of Photography (Warsaw, ) and is the author of many articles for press regarding photographic medium. She curates Unforgettable, highlight exhibition of Fotofestiwal She welcomes photographers interested in Editorial and Magazine Photography. She is wiling to help structuring portfolios, reviewing achievements and provide advice on how a young amateur may become a professional photographer and how working for a magazine really looks like. IEVA MEILUTÉ Lithuania Curator, art Historian and critic. She worked for the Lithuanian Photographers Association, Prospektas gallery and Vilnius Photography gallery (Vilnius, Lithuania). She has curated personal and group exhibitions of Lithuanian and foreign artists, has published few articles on photography in local photography magazines and also managed the lecture program of International Photography seminars in Nida (Lithuania). Currently working as project coordinator in Kaunas Photography Gallery (Lithuania), she has involved also in book edition. Ieva is engaged in different international portfolio reviews and in the newly established Vitas Luckus Photography Center (Lithuania). She is especially interested in original projects with a strong conceptual and/or aesthetic approach. Projects including other media are also welcome completed or on-going. She is not particularly interested in fashion, nudes, postcard pictures and strictly commercial work.
5 JAKUB ŚWIRCZ Curator, lecturer and publicist. Lecturer at the Academy of Photography in Warsaw and Krakow (), he has been working for in Yours Gallery and Archeology of Photography Foundation (Warsaw). Collaborator in polish radio broadcastings and in Kikimora magazine, Jakub s texts have been also published in Przekrój and Duży Format polish cultural magazines. He has curated several exhibitions and is also the director of projects as 10 razy inaczej meetings with contemporary photographers in Kordegarda Gallery (Warsaw) or Asymetria Modern an independent art space dedicated to photography in Warsaw. JOANNA KINOWSKA Art historian specialized in photography. She is an independent curator of photographic exhibitions, editor of photo books. She works at the Służewski Dom Kultury, being in charge of educational programs, in particular in photographic domain. In the years she worked in Zachęta - National Gallery of Art in Warsaw,, in the field of education, dealing with, among others, programs related to photography. She is a columnist, writing for Digital Photographer Polska; a founder of the blog MIEJSCE FOTOGRAFII. She teaches at the Academy of Photography in Warsaw. She gives workshops of her own concept Thinking Photography in which participants learn to choose the right form for the presentation of their own work. She is mainly interested in documentary photography, and all located on the fringes of regular classification. It would be interesting for het to meet photographers who are planning exhibitions or publications, who are planning to present their creativity to the viewer. There is a difference between presenting photographs in a grant application, in a book, on a website, on a wall of the gallery and Kinowska will be happy to discuss also this issue an adequacy of the form to the way of presentation. JOHAN SJÖSTRÖM Sweden Curator of exhibitions at Gothenburg Museum of Art in Sweden. He has curated forty museum shows of international renowned artists in Scandinavian institutions and he has been invited to review and lecture at numerous international photo events including between others European Central Bank Annual Photography Award (Germany); Rencontres d Arles (France); FotoFest (Houston, TX); FotoFest (Moscow, Russia) or Odense FotoTriennal (Denmark). Johan has been lecturing on photography in various universities worldwide and he is the editor of several publications. He contributes regularly to magazines including Source, Artphoto, fotomagazin, Pavilion Magazine and Paletten. He is mostly interested in reviewing creative, conceptually oriented photography, video and new media; political, postcolonial and multicultural issues, postmodern landscape, and issues of gender, identity and sexuality. He is not interested in reviewing fashion, traditional documentary, classical nudes and landscapes or commercial work.
6 KATHARINA MOURATIDI Germany Artistic and executive director of Society for Humanistic Photography (Berlin, Germany) an organization dedicated to planning, curating and financing photographic projects in collaboration with renowned art and cultural institutions. Her own photographic work has been published throughout Europe and has been shown in numerous solo and group shows worldwide, including Willy-Brandt-Haus Berlin, Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn (Germany), Palau Robert (Spain), FotoFest Houston (USA), Pingyao International Photography Festival (China). Katharina has held numerous teaching positions and a visiting professorship at the Art College Berlin Weißensee. In 2013 she was appointed a member of the German Society of Photography (DGPh). She is interested into seeing professional photographic projects focusing on socially and politically relevant issues, dealing with the society and culture of our days. It does not matter if the bodies of work are already completed or still in progress. She is open to review a broad range of photographic genres from documentary to staged photography except from commercial portfolios, architecture and nude photography. KATRIN IWANCZUK Germany Art historian, editor of LFI magazine the magazine dedicated to Leica photography and director of M Magazine special edition of LFI. Katrin has been writing for several art magazines, televisions and newspapers. She is currently in charge of LFI Blog, where the magazine presents a selection of established and emerging photographers. She is interested in meeting photographers from all different genres, in order to present their photos and talk in short interviews about their work in LFI blog. KRZYSZTOF MIĘKUS Artist, curator and journalist. He has been the editor in chief of Pozytyw magazine the prime Polish magazine concerned with documentary and art photography and curator of Yours Gallery (Warsaw, ) and Transfotografia Festival (Gdańsk, ). He has collaborated with several photography festivals, including Rencontres d Arles (Frances) and Krakow Photomonth () and he has also coordinated projects as Art+Science Meeting at Łaźnia Centre for Contemporary Art (Gdańsk). Krzysztof has been staff lecturer at European Academy of Photography (Warsaw, ) and he is currently lecturer in History of Photography in the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts. He exhibits his works worldwide and writes for Malemen Magazine (). He is open to discuss interdisciplinary projects that fuse various conventions or reach beyond photographic domain. Those can be artistic projects as well as issued for press release.
7 LOUISE CLEMENTS United Kingdom Artistic Director of QUAD centre for contemporary art, film and new technologies and FORMAT International Photography Festival (Derby, UK). She has independently curated many international exhibitions and has collaborated with photography festivals such as Rencontres d Arles (France), Hamburg Photo Triennale (Germany) or Venice Biennale (Italy) both as jury and reviewer. Louise regularly writes about contemporary art for books and magazines in print and online media. She is interested in seeing all types of photography that is well thought out and edited including work in progress and mixed media. MACIEJ BUJKO A Program Director of TIFF Festival International Festival of Photography in Wrocław,. Bringing the festival to life in 2011 goes along with Wroclaw s rich creativity whose influence spread not only throughout but also to its neighboring countries. TIFF festival aims to step in those footprints and become a medium for photographic development by offering a platform for artistic, academic, innovative and inspiring activities in the world of photography and similar styles of art. TIFF festival would like to get deeper into the topic of photography, to re-live it and bring it closer. We consider photography a medium existing in different kinds of contexts and thus fulfilling different functions. The range goes from the mere conservation of a subjective moment in reality to advertising effects which persuade the consumer of the product s benefit up to the creation of new worlds; showing and passing on a certain symbolism. Knowing that the field of photography is changing constantly in an active and creative form in our postmodern world made us offer a diverse festival without standardized rules. In the following editions of TIFF there will be also a certain topic which will feature an important problem, and be an inspiration for the artists at the same time. MAIRA DUDAREVA Latvia Head of the Latvian Museum of Photography. She has been working as photo archive manager in various Latvian newspapers and she has also worked as a curator for various local and international exhibitions. Maira is doctoral researcher in digital photography indexation and a lecturer in the Latvian Culture College (Riga). She is interested in seeing contemporary work made by young or emerging photographers. She likes to review conceptual storytelling photography and documentary photography.
8 MANIK KATYAL India Founder, curator and editor-in-chief of Emaho Magazine (India) a magazine to introduce the work of emerging photographers. He has been nominated for the Creative Entrepreneur of 2012 award by the British Council and he has participated as judge and portfolio reviewer in various international festivals such as FORMAT (Derby, UK), Encontros da Imagem (Braga, Portugal), Rencontres d'arles (France) and Lens Culture Foto-Fest (France). Manik was also invited to do portfolio reviews at The New York Times Portfolio Reviews, USA in April and Photo Ireland, Dublin in July He is mostly interested in reviewing long-term personal projects. He is not attracted by wedding photography, fashion and commercial work. MARTA SZYMAŃSKA Vice-president in Foundation of Archeology of Photography - one of the most important organizations involved in the development of archives of Polish photographers. Since 2005, she has been working for Fotofestiwal - International Festival of Photography in Lodz, becoming it s Program Director for years She is an author of a portal for photographers which collects current information about the most important international cultural events. He works with Sputnik Photos collective, supporting the international promotion of the group. From many years, she has been a coordinator of the Photo Festival Union - an association which connects European festivals of photography - and an editor in chief of series of books, Photo, presenting portfolios of Polish photographers. She was reviewing portfolios at international festivals. She has been awarded with the Scholarship of the Ministry of Culture in. She is happy to review and discuss various projects and to share her knowledge regarding international photographic events, editing, designing and preparing exhibitions. She is particularly interested in projects in which the archives are the focal point. MAURO BEDONI Italy Photo editor in COLORS Magazine internationally distributed bilingual magazine published by Fabrica, the Benetton s communication research centre. He has served as a portfolio reviewer and juror in various international photography festivals. Mauro has been a freelance documentary photographer for years and he was nominated for picture editor of the year at the Lucie Awards He is mainly keen to meet documentary photographers focusing on portraiture, landscape and reportage style dealing with social contemporary issues, preferably covering unreported topics or stories less considered by mainstream media outlets. He is also interested in reviewing experimental photography projects, crossing the boundaries between documentary and art photography. He can also consider projects made by photographers or visual artists consisting of archival, found and vernacular imagery.
9 MICHAELA BOSÁKOVÁ Slovakia Editor and freelance curator. She has been working as project manager and curator for the Central European House of Photography in Bratislava and she organized many photography exhibitions both in Slovakia and the rest of Europe. Michaela is the project manager of the second part of the encyclopaedia about The History of European Photography ; she was also the production manager of the first volume. She is looking for adventurous and brave photographers. She does not have any particular preferences in photography, but she is keen to the key concepts experimentation, new vision and quality. She is not interested in food and fashion photography. NINA CASSIANOU Greece Freelance curator and photography researcher. She collaborates with Thessaloniki Museum of Photography (Greece) and she has hold different positions in several art galleries and centres. She curated many exhibitions and books both in Greece and abroad. Doctorate in History of photography, Nina has written numerous academic essays and publications regarding Greek and European photography. She also gave lectures in different universities and colleges. For the last decade, she has been photography critic in prestigious newspapers and reviewer in festivals as PhotoEspaña (Madrid, Spain) or Fotofo (Bratislava, Slovakia). She is interested in all the kinds of contemporary photography on different concepts. However, she claims reportage front line is not my taste. I can t rely on it. ØYVIND HJELMEN Norway Curator and freelance photographer. He has been working with photography for more than 20 years and his works have been exhibited in 14 countries. He has been teaching workshops and educational photo projects from schools to universities. Øyvind is the initiator, artistic project manager and curator for the Artist-in-Residence project at Halsnøy Monastery, run by Sunnhordland Museum (Norway). He is interested in viewing all kinds of photographic works except commercial photography as long as the quality is on a high level.
10 PETR VILGUS Czech Republic Senior Lecturer at Silesian University in Opava, Institute of Creative Photography and a Faculty Member. Art Historian, Photography historian and theorist. Vice-Editor at FOTO Magazine. RADU STERN Switzerland / Romania Art historian and curator. He regularly lectures and reviews portfolios at universities, art schools, and photography festivals in Switzerland and abroad. Radu has been the Deputy-Director responsible of the Applied Arts School of Vevey (Switzerland), where he founded Higher Education Program in Photography. He has also been Director of Education at the Musée de l'elysée (Lausanne, Switzerland) one of the leading photography museums in the world. He is interested in seeing any kind of portfolios. THOMAS LICEK Austria Art Manager. He is organizing the Month of Photography Vienna since its first edition in Managing Director of Eyes On - Month of Photography Vienna since 2008, he is currently President of the European Month of Photography (EMoP), an international network including festivals in Athens, Berlin, Bratislava, Budapest, Ljubljana, Luxembourg, Paris, and Vienna. He is interested in seeing contemporary work made by young or emerging photographers: mainly documentary, social, and conceptual, but also everything that is done by heart and mind. TINA SCHELHORN Germany Founding director of Galerie Lichtblick (Cologne, Germany) a non-profit organization for contemporary photography. She has been involved in the organization of several photography festivals and acted as juror for many others. Tina has also worked as freelance curator for institutions as Art Basel (Switzerland) and Cambridge University (UK), and lectured in various North- American universities. She has been working for years in Cornwall International Photography Auction House and she is founding member Festival Union European network of Photography Festivals.
11 TUULA ALAJOKI Finland Curator and director of Backlight Photo Festival (Tampere, Finland). She has been working as a teacher and lecturer of photography in several institutions and she has curated exhibitions both in Finland and abroad. Tuula is a researcher in art theory and works intensively to develop international art and artist exchanges. She is especially interested in socially driven projects from documentary photo essays to art photography with passionate approaches and strong content. She prefers to review prints or book form from screens, unless showing video works or installations. She is not interested in picture manipulation, fashion or other commissioned commercial works. W.M. HUNT USA Collector, curator and educator specialized in photography. He has organized exhibitions at George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film in (Rochester, NY), Rencontres d Arles (France), Musée de l'elysée (Lausanne, Switzerland) and FOAM_Fotografiemuseum (Amsterdam, Netherlands). He was a principal in Hasted Hunt and Ricco/Maresca Galleries (USA) and has been responsible for introducing many major international contemporary artists to the United States. Hunt has been a judge, juror or nominator for many major photography prizes including World Press Photo, SONY World Photography Organization, Prix Pictet, and Getty Images.
