1 2015 Society of Counseling Psychology Hospitality Space Schedule and Guide For those who are new to SCP/APA and its workings, following is some information that may be helpful to you as you decide whether to attend an event in the Hospitality Space (HS) and, who each event might be for. Most events are open to all, but some are by invitation and some are for particular groups of people. If in doubt, you may ask at the HS table at APA or contact Julia Phillips at prior to convention with questions. Please note many SCP sections, special interest groups and liaison groups hold their executive board meetings and business meetings in the Hospitality Space. For groups within SCP, business meetings are open to all to attend. Counseling psychologists and SAS members (students) and those who are interested in membership/leadership are strongly encouraged to attend business meetings. Business meetings are often the place where people get involved, become leaders, and network! Please note that the HS is closed during SCP s business meeting so that all can attend. For groups within SCP, executive board meetings are typically only attended by executive board members (e.g., president, chair, treasurer, etc) and those people serving in governance positions (e.g., committee chairs), although they are open to members to observe when the EB is not in executive session. Discussions, social hours, poster sessions, roundtables, conversation hours, etc. are open to all who are interested, although some of these events are focused on or for particular populations in SCP (e.g., students, early career psychologists [ECPs], SCP members in APA governance, etc.) and this focus will be noted in the titles of the discussions. If something looks interesting, we encourage you to attend!
