1 Self-Tracking Degree Audit Concurrent Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Education The purpose of this Self-Tracking Degree Audit (STDA) is to assist you in tracking your progress toward completing the BA degree requirements. You can begin this form as soon as you know what discipline(s) you plan to Honour, Major, Double Major, and/or Minor in. 1. Obtain the UNB Undergraduate Calendar, either in hard copy from the Registrar s Office or online at 2. Review the specific requirements for your Honours/Major/Double Major and/or Minor program 3. Review the Bachelor of Arts academic policies and regulations 4. Print a copy of your transcript (available through My UNB E-services found on the UNB homepage at Click on the Academic tab and on the left hand side click on Unofficial transcript). 5. Cross off any failed courses (F s), withdrawals (W s), Labs, and any course completed more than once, leaving the course with the best grade. 6. On Page 1, list the required courses for your Honours/Major/Double Major and/or Minor program on the chart FIRST. 7. List the remainder of your courses, in the proper column. 8. Only 4 ED courses may count towards the BA degree: ED 3031, ED 3041, ED 3051 and ED Do not change these four courses on the form and do not add more ED courses as electives. 9. Important Things to Note: This form should include the courses that you are registered in for the current academic year. You will not receive credit for courses you have passed twice. The duplicate course with the highest grade will be considered toward your degree. The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ s) section on the Faculty of Arts Advising Website ( provides helpful information for BA students and contact information for each Faculty Advisor. Labs are not considered courses in the BA degree. A minimum grade of C is required in all ED courses. PSYC 1003 and PSYC 1004 are prerequisites for ED Students may only count credit for one of ED 3021 or PSYC ED 3021 is the preferred course. If you take PSYC 2201 Human Growth & Development instead of ED 3021 you will have to take a third ED Elective instead of two. Two courses in literacy education are recommended to provide a broader background in the area, but only one course is required. If you have no prior Mathematics credit you need to take a university level Math course before taking ED MATH 2633 Fundamental Principles of Elementary School Mathematics is recommended. MATH 2633, or another MATH course, needs to be taken in the academic year that you start your BA/BEd. NOTE: It is the student's responsibility to ensure that s/he has met the requirements of the BEd degree (i.e. the appropriate 15 ED term-courses, 2 one-week observations periods of ED 4003 & ED 4004, as well as the student teaching practicum ED 5040). 6 term-courses is the maximum course load of a full-time BA/BEd student in Fall and Winter terms, while 3 termcourses is the maximum course load for summer session unless approval for more is given by the Dean of Arts.
