1 Omniture University Course Catalog Welcome to the Omniture University Course Catalog. This catalog gives basic information on the courses offered, as well as the courses that are recommended for you, based on your role at your organization. Jump right in and browse the role-based recommendations (p. 2-3), explore options for the courses by delivery method (p. 4), and peruse the course descriptions (pp. 5-10). In this PDF document, many course titles are linked for your browsing convenience. Also check out the Omniture University web site another excellent source of information. Happy learning! Course Recommendations per Role On the two pages that follow, Omniture University training is broken down by product, followed by listings of general roles or job titles which would benefit from that training. We know there are more job titles and descriptions than can be listed, so we aren t going to attempt to do that. Instead, find the one that most closely resembles your role in your organization, and then look at the courses listed to see if they fit your needs. Tailor your course plan as necessary to gain the knowledge you need to succeed. To use the chart on the following pages: 1. Find the product for which you need training in the first column. 2. In the second column, locate your role as it pertains to that product. 3. View the recommended course offerings for your role in the third column. As you view the recommended course offerings, keep in mind that it may not be required to attend all of the different course types. The content in the videos and the Instructor-led Online () courses are typically a subset of what is provided in the Instructor-led Training () courses. Please see course descriptions and duration in this document for more information about individual courses. The following is a short description of these course types: : On-demand videos in the Help section of the Omniture Suite. Log into the Omniture Suite and go to the Help > Training s page in the top right corner of the interface. : Instructor-led Online courses. These elearning courses are conducted live by an Omniture University instructor in a virtual environment (typically Webex). As pointed out in the beginning of this document, some of these are in a short format (typically 2-hour courses) and some are considered a long format (4 hours to 2 days). See individual course descriptions for more information. To learn about or register for online classes, click here. : Instructor-led Training: This method is the traditional classroom training at Omniture or in a regional location near you. These courses can also be taught at your location, which is typical if you have several people that will benefit from the same training course. Course Summary: The training provided in this course is tailored to help you start with your key business requirements (KBR), and map those to available data in SiteCatalyst, in order to find answers to maximize ROI. You will learn how the SiteCatalyst reporting interface and navigation work, how to run reports to get the exact answers you are looking for, and how to customize reporting for effective decision making. Real-world examples will be used to test attendee knowledge. SiteCatalyst Advanced Features & Tools Training Duration: 2 Days Intended Students: SiteCatalyst Admins, SiteCatalyst Power Users/Experts, Web Analysts and Long Course Summary: This two-day training course is designed to familiarize SiteCatalyst Admins and super-users with the several advanced features, tools, and products that help you customized and segment your data. In this course you will learn about segmentation tools in SiteCatalyst, including Classifications, Data Warehouse, ASI, etc. You will also become familiar with tools and products specializing in importing data into, and exporting data out of, SiteCatalyst. Also included in this course is in-depth training on managing campaigns in SiteCatalyst. SiteCatalyst Pre-Implementation Training Duration: One 4-hour virtual session Intended Students: Technical Leads and Business Leads for SiteCatalyst (both should attend and try to get along) J Course Summary: This instructor-led online course focuses on the essential concepts as you prepare for the SiteCatalyst implementation process. The course provides the participants (technical or business leads) with detailed implementation recommendations and best practices, enabling you to make the right decisions as you customize the SiteCatalyst reports, features, and tools. The course emphasizes real-world case studies and detailed explanations to reinforce principles and build confidence in mapping out business solutions in order to facilitate a quicker, more efficient implementation. Anyone implementing SiteCatalyst should know the information that is covered in this class. It s definitely a must have. SiteCatalyst Implementation Training Duration: 3 Days Intended Students: IT Professionals, Technical Leads, Liaisons between business and technical, Code Implementers Course Summary: This three-day training course provides the participant (technical lead) with an advanced study of the SiteCatalyst implementation process, including detailed implementation recommendations and best practices for deploying SiteCatalyst code. It includes hands-on practice coding the SiteCatalyst variables used to populate out-of-the-box and custom reports. The course cites several Web site types and Key Business Requirements to reinforce principles and build confidence in mapping out business solutions and deploying them. SearchCenter User Training Duration: 1 Day Intended Students: Search Marketing Professionals, Marketing Managers, Marketing Professionals Course Summary: This course will teach you how to use SearchCenter to centralize keyword management with one interface across multiple search engines, automate keyword bidding based on defined performance thresholds as well as enable automated alerts. Also, learn how to generate custom and automated reports and intelligently optimize keyword campaigns based on multi-session visitor behavior. 5

6 SearchCenter Intro for SEM Experts Duration: 2 Hours Intended Students: Experienced Search Marketing Professionals Course Summary: This two-hour course introduces the experienced marketing professional to the SearchCenter product. You will be familiarized with importing campaigns from search engines, creating campaigns in the interface, bid automation, report availability, and activity monitoring. NOTE: This course does NOT cover basic SEM principles; so if you are new to search marketing, please take the one-day SearchCenter User Training. Test&Target Power User Training Duration: 3 Days Intended Students: Marketing Professionals, Product Managers, Web Analysts Course Summary: This course provides detailed, hands-on instruction of Omniture Test&Target for those who will be using the tool on a regular basis, or for those who will be managing such users. This course lays the groundwork so that students walk away with a working knowledge of how to plan, build, and execute campaigns, as well as how to correctly read and interpret test results. The course agenda has been designed with several hands-on exercises interspersed throughout the course, so that users are given ample time in the product, actually using and testing campaigns that they build themselves. Discover User Training Duration: 1 Day Intended Students: Data Analysts, Web Analysts (serious ones, not just goofing around ) Course Summary: This class will teach you how to use Discover 2 to do deep analysis on your Web site traffic. Discover 2 goes beyond day-to-day analytics questions and allows you to explore hidden relationships between your reports. Discover 2 gives you the ability to take segmentation to the next level by applying virtually any segment to any report, revealing the segment s effect on site traffic, paths through your site, and conversion. Discover queries the entire data set with unprecedented speed and flexibility. SiteSearch User Training Duration: 2 Days Intended Students: Marketing Professionals, Internal Search Managers, Content Editors, Content Managers Course Summary: This course is intended for those who are responsible for maintaining the quality of internal site search results using Omniture SiteSearch. Students will learn how to improve conversion by driving visitors to their site s most successful products and content, using features such as ranking, relevance, target tags, synonyms, hyponyms, direct hits, autocomplete, keyword-based content, and others. Omniture Insight: Analyst Training Duration: 1 Day Intended Students: Web Analysts, Data Analysts, anyone using Omniture Insight for day-today analysis Course Summary: This training begins with a general overview of architecture, terminology and concepts. It then teaches students how to navigate through the application and create and design new analysis workspaces, reports and dashboards. This course is designed to give a good working knowledge of how to use Omniture Insight to analyze your data. 7 Omniture Insight: Architect Training Duration: 1 Day Intended Students: Data Architects, Implementers/Developers, IT Professional customizing Omniture Insight for Analysts Course Summary: This course covers the Omniture Insight configuration and architecture for personnel who will be responsible for translating their users analysis needs and reporting requirements to the dataset and profile configuration available. This course is designed to give a good working knowledge of how to configure Omniture Insight to analyze your data. For a more in-depth knowledge and certification, please take the three-day OCP Architect: Omniture Insight Course. Omniture Insight: Admin Training Duration: 1 Day Intended Students: IT Professionals, Data Architects, DOP Admins Course Summary: In Omniture Insight Administrator training, attendees are introduced to all components and develop an understanding of how data is collected and organized for analysis. Participants receive instruction on the role and location of all system configuration files, how to access and modify them, and how to troubleshoot general operational issues. Omniture Merchandising: Advanced CSN Development & SNQL Duration: 8 Days Intended Students: Application Developers, Data Developers Availability: Onsite at your location Course Summary: This course will cover the more advanced functionality of Omniture Merchandising s CSN Search and Merchandising Solution. Key topics covered in this course include an overview of the Core Search and Navigation Query Language (SNQL), the use and application of loader queries, the application schema and sample modifications, the use of Kettle in the Merchandising data transformation tool, and much more. As this course is very technical in nature, previous Merchandising training/ experience is a prerequisite to this course. OCP Analyst: Omniture Insight Duration: 3 Days Intended Students: Web Analysts, Data Analysts, anyone using Omniture Insight for day-to-day analysis Course Summary: The Omniture Insight Analyst certification course provides in-depth training and Omniture Certified Professional (OCP) credentials for business analysts who want to become expert end users of Omniture Insight. OCP Architect: Omniture Insight Duration: 3 Days Intended Students: Data Architects, Implementers/ Developers, IT Professional customizing Omniture Insight for Analysts Course Summary: The Omniture Insight Architect certification program provides in-depth training and Omniture Certified Professional (OCP) credentials for candidates who want to configure and construct datasets to support their clients business analysis needs. 7

8 SiteCatalyst Support for Partners Duration: 3 Days Prerequisites: Omniture Partner status AND successful completion of the OCP: SiteCatalyst certification exam Intended Students: Omniture Channel Partners Course Summary: This three-day course, for Omniture Partners only, will expose students to a host of potential technical questions they may encounter as they assist clients with SiteCatalyst queries. It will also build out their knowledge of this powerful Web Analytics application so that the technical support staff can more competently field the diverse array of questions that are produced from the SiteCatalyst user base - both technical and general. Prerequisite: The class will end with the SiteCatalyst Support for Partners certification exam. The OCP: Support credential is achieved only after the above prerequisite and completion of the SiteCatalyst Support for Partners course exam have been successfully passed. Commerce Merchandising Console Training Duration: Two 4-hour sessions on consecutive days Intended Students: Marketing Professionals, Merchandising Specialists, Product Managers Course Summary: This two-day (four hours per day) class will teach you how to use the Commerce Merchandising Console (CMC). The class focuses on the many options for creating business rules. Attendees learn how the search function works and get an overview of the CMC. Finally, attendees learn how to handle linguistics and the admin options. Upon completing this online class, participants will be able to: Create and implement special sales with promotion content, merchandise products on your site, and increase conversion rates through proper site search optimization. Omniture Survey Training Duration: One 4-hour virtual session Intended Students: Marketing Professionals, Survey and Customer Experience Specialists Course Summary: This four-hour virtual course shows you how to create and customize surveys for your site, including when and where they should be launched to the visitor. You will learn about question types, branching, and custom response types. You will be able to brand your surveys specifically for your application. You will also learn how to see the results, so that you can use response data to improve marketing or site design. Primarily for technical leads, the content discusses best practices for translating their clients business requirements into specific SiteCatalyst variables and functions, as well as coaching the deployment of SiteCatalyst code on their Web sites. Custom Variables and Events Intended Students: Technical Leads, Coders Course Summary: Custom variables and custom events are incredibly powerful features in SiteCatalyst. They allow you to track and answer the questions that are unique to your organization, forming the foundation of your analytics customization. In this session you will learn the difference between custom traffic variables (s.props) and conversion variables (evars) and when to use them. 10 Omniture Test&Target: Technical Training Intended Students: Technical Leads, Coders Course Summary: This course begins by describing mbox communication and site setup involving mbox.js. It covers correct mbox syntax in detail, including several exercises in which attendees get to debug mbox errors on web pages. Attendees are shown the mboxdebug parameter and its use in troubleshooting, as well as reinforcement of the correct use of targeting, profiles, and reference materials for research and further study. The course concludes by covering recorders, host management and campaign quality assurance. Throughout the course, attendees receive hands-on experience with Test&Target to better understand its capabilities. Omniture Test&Target: Ad Testing Intended Students: Marketing Professionals Course Summary: In this course, you learn how to leverage Test&Target to optimize your advertising spend. Ad testing capabilities in Test&Target allow you to extend strategic campaigns to third party sites, where it is not typically possible to place mbox code. Using adboxes and redirectors instead of mboxes, you can test varying content for your ads on affiliate sites, to determine which are most compelling to your visitors, thereby maximizing advertising dollars. You can use this same technology to test varying landing pages for visitors who click through those ads onto your site, tracking the path of the visitor all the way through to conversion.
