At this point in your college search, you may be wondering how you can make the most of your education and where your studies may take you after graduation. We can help you discover your potential through our exciting academic programs. Learning at Brockport goes well beyond the walls of our classrooms through applied learning activities, internships, service learning, undergraduate research and 100 study abroad programs in more than 30 countries. These are just a few examples of the kinds of transformative learning experiences where students benefit from intense engagement with faculty members. At Brockport, each of our students has the opportunity to enrich classroom learning with these high impact experiential learning activities that will give you an advantage as you enter the job market or pursue an advanced degree. Built on a strong liberal arts foundation, Brockport offers extensive and diverse offerings within our 49 undergraduate and more than 50 graduate programs of study. With majors like Accounting, Broadcasting, and Meteorology; signature programs such as the Honors College; pre-professional programs in medicine, dentistry, veterinary sciences, and law; and five-year combined bachelor and master degree programs in a number of fields, the College embodies an exceptional experience. Our faculty is comprised of experts in their fields of study, nationally recognized scholars and passionate teachers. Importantly, they strive to develop relationships with their intellectually curious students, who work with them to conduct research, debate theory, write creatively, and discover their potential. Subjects of study include everything from examining the water quality of Lake Ontario to creating mobile apps, from dance performance to philosophic discourse, from exercise science to forensic science, from kinesiology to nursing. Our academic facilities are first-rate. You will benefit from state-of-the-art equipment, classrooms designed for collaborative learning, and modern science laboratories. In 2014, we opened a new building dedicated to the liberal arts featuring an auditorium and collaboration spaces. Our recently renovated nursing building, featuring simulation labs and state-of-the-art technology, opens in fall Visit our vibrant campus to take a tour or attend one of our Fall Open Houses to explore, in depth, the transformational learning environment that awaits you. At you will learn more about our community of learning. I look forward to meeting you! Sincerely, Most academic departments offer minors and the minor will usually carry the same name as the major program. Mary Ellen Zuckerman, PhD Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
PROGRESS A new beginning to a lifelong journey.
The world is changing. Rapidly. And, as technology evolves, and complex global issues continue to emerge, it is impossible to predict exactly what the future holds. An education from The College at Brockport, State University of New York, helps prepare our students to be ready for what the future brings. The Brockport academic experience instills in its students an intellectual curiosity that will help them leap life s hurdles. The core of this experience is an environment that emphasizes the development of superior skills in writing, speaking, critical thinking and mathematical analysis abilities that will always be in high demand. Those courses are complemented by a vast array of professional programs that prepare students for the career of their dreams. Academic life at Brockport isn t confined to the four walls of a classroom or even the perimeters of its campus. Students at the undergraduate level conduct original research, pursue scholarly and creative works, complete internships and study abroad.
TRANSITION Setting the foundation for lasting success.
The College has developed programs to ensure that your transition to Brockport is a smooth one. Nationally, we are one of 12 founding colleges to establish a First-Year Experience program, allowing our students to transition with the partnership and collaboration that leads to student success. Small class sizes enable close interaction and exploration of a variety of topics. The first year in any new environment can be both amazing and challenging. For most students, college represents independence, exploration and growth. Brockport has programs set up to help make your transition a success. We have resources and information to help with: Academics Study Skills Health & Wellness Campus Experiences
THRIVE Brockport graduates leave prepared to positively impact the world. The School of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences casts an eye to the future and teaches our students to do the same. The workforce of the future will require an understanding of our global community. It will demand prolific writing, speaking and critical thinking skills. Our students are encouraged to experience the world during their time at Brockport. Employers are seeking individuals who are bilingual and who have demonstrated an ability to problem-solve in a foreign environment. Each of the many international experiences we offer provides our students with an invaluable opportunity to view the world through a different lens. Our faculty are committed to helping Brockport students develop through challenging lectures, engaged discussions, and positive reinforcement that aims to hone and refine these key abilities. 10 EXPERTISE World-class faculty prepare students for academic and professional success. Remarkable value. That s what students receive from our School of Business Administration and Economics. Brockport is one of just 727 institutions in the world that is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) the gold standard in business education. That places our business school in the top five percent of business schools internationally, while our students pay one of the lowest tuition rates in the nation. Internships provide our students with an invaluable pipeline into professional practice. And often, Brockport is presented with more internship opportunities for our students than we are able to fill. That s because they arrive ready to work. For example, our finance students have the opportunity to become Bloomberg certified. We possess the same Bloomberg terminals that they ll be asked to use by their employers. But for a Brockport student, no training is necessary. Brockport business graduates are in high demand. Below is a small sampling of where our graduates have started their careers: Citigroup Coca-Cola JP Morgan Chase Merrill Lynch Wealth Kyle Amendola 09 has forged a career that has Management included stops with two Fortune 500 companies Xerox both in the top 60 to be exact. Visit us at Amendola is currently a Finance Manager for Ortho Clinical Diagnostics in Rochester, NY, one of the world s leading in-vitro diagnostics & blood transfusion companies providing diagnosis & monitoring for patients. Previously, he worked for Lockheed Martin, where he was hired right out of Brockport.

INTEGRITY Learn to view the world through a diversified lens.
Students arrive to our School of Education and Human Services seeking to become a social worker, counselor, teacher, public or school administrator or a criminal justice practitioner and they acquire a blend of practical and theoretical knowledge that equips them to do just that. They ll also be prepared to make a positive impact on society. Each student s education regardless of major addresses three key themes: Ethics: Our graduates won t always have a supervisor standing over them. They ll be independent practitioners. Therefore, making ethical decisions should be intuitive. We ll ensure it is. Diversity/cultural competence: Each community is unique. We develop practitioners who appreciate the richness of the communities they serve and possess the skills necessary to effectively engage with complex societies. Social Justice: Our students believe that their chosen profession should have a social benefit. They are encouraged to discover ways they can take what they learned during their Brockport experience and advocate on behalf of disadvantaged populations. Practical skills along with these key competencies combine to prepare our students for long, successful and difference-making careers in their field of choice. Visit us at
PREPARA Learn here, go anywhere. Students in our School of Health and Human Performance are the beneficiaries of top-notch instruction from some of the finest faculty in the country. Our faculty choose to come to Brockport because they want to spend a considerable portion of their time in a classroom, not strictly in a research laboratory. They work hard to ensure that our students education is not only grounded in sound theory, but that they have an opportunity to put that research into practice. Nearly every program within the school requires students to complete an internship before graduating. That s because we believe that an undergraduate experience is not complete without an opportunity to apply the skills learned in the classroom. Visit us at

RESEARCH Leading the way towards the future. Departments in the School of Science and Mathematics are enthusiastic partners in the national Educate to Innovate effort, and they strive to produce graduates who are prepared and eager to make a difference in society. Our formula: outstanding faculty + stateof-the-art facilities + high impact practices through faculty/student collaboration = a transformational educational experience. Our graduates have gone on to purse professional degrees, PhDs, and doctorial degrees in medicine, veterinary medicine, and dentistry, at an array of prestigious institutions such as: Cornell University Duke University Massachusetts Institute of Technology The Ohio State University University at Buffalo Virginia Tech Visit us at
Chyna Glenn 14 A dream comes true. Chyna visited AccuWeather as part of a trip she planned for Brockport s student chapter of the National Weather Association. It was during this trip that Chyna knew she wanted to be a meteorologist for AccuWeather where she can impact people with her daily forecasts.
