2 Biography Kevin Ronan I started my IT career in the same year as Spain joined the EEC (European Economic Community) and a brilliant Spanish golfer, Seve Ballesteros, won the Irish Open (Golf). Having earned a college qualification in IT, I started working as an IMS DBA for a large Irish Bank. I went on to become an IMS, CICS and DB2 Systems programmer and IT Manager. After 12 years doing a normal job, I decided to try something a little bit different and joined a software vendor. I worked for BMC Software as a Pre Sales Consultant for almost 7 years in the UK/Ireland region after which I moved to CA technologies. Although based in Ireland, I spend the majority of my time working with CA s Mainframe customers across the rest of Western Europe. When I started working in IT 25 years ago, many industry experts believed that IMS and the Mainframe in general had very few years until retirement.
