1 Prof. Ataman DEMİR Interior Architecture Department Prof. Ataman Demir was born in İzmir-Karşıyaka in 1938 and completed his primary and secondary education there. He started studying in the Department of Architecture at the Fine Arts Academy in 1957 and graduated in The same year, he was assigned to the Professorship of Chair of Building Knowledge and Architectural Project Assistantship. In 1973, he wrote his PhD thesis on Precautions taken in Architecture to be protected and benefited from Radiation of the Sun and in 1974 he became an Associate Professor. After he wrote a thesis on Antakya Ancient Residence Settling, he received his PhD in He did done observations and researches on architectural heritage in Anatolia, Balkans and Central Asia, and published these works on article series, and papers at national and international conferences. He also gave conferences about them. He has done restorations and new designs in Istanbul, Mudanya-Siği village and Konya, and he did the applications of most of these designs. He has won many awards. His ANTAKYA THROUGH THE AGES book was published by Akbank in 1996 and Foreign Professors at Fine Arts Academy was published by Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in He worked as a professor for Building Knowledge and Architectural Project between 1963 and 2003 in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. He got retired in He supported the education system in Konya Selçuk University as a guest lecturer due to the Higher Education Council (YÖK) regulations in He gave lectures in the Interior Architecture Department in Yeditepe University between 2000 and 2004 and in the Architecture Department in Haliç University between 2005 and Since his retirement he has been working in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and he has been lecturing in the Department of Interior Architecture at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Işık University since academic year.
