2 Welcome to use DVR digital surveillance system Congratulations for choosing the DVR digital surveillance system product. This product is a highly integrated and highly automated security system. You can use it to preview real time video and manage large scale of recorded video, control periphery equipments, and cooperate with other information systems. The DVR system has integrated the capturing and compressing of video and audio data, responding for sensor signal, controling auxiliary devices, remote controling from internet and other functions. By utilizing advanced video compression technology, the system providing efficient video data's recording and network tranfering. By implementing multi-task mechanism in software, system can perform multi operations in paralle, including record schedule, motion detection, adjustable framerate for night-mode, etc. The system can apply to different fields such as bank, university, school, hospital, factory, etc. The DVR system is developed for collaborating with our DVR card. As a professional video capture card manufacturer,we will develop better surveillance products in future. The product has many advantages: High software robustness and efficiency. 4 Composition The system is made up by 3 independent subsystems. Each subsystem consists of serveral relational modules. Each module performs its tasks, and communicates with other modules, collaborates to accomplish record, backup, display, transfer actions. <Server> Server is the main system which performs data capturing, record managing, automatic controling and network transfering. Server application captures and provides live preview of video and audio data, records data according to the schedule set by user, and transfers compressed data to clients who request connection. The system also responds to sensor signals, provides control for front-end equipment, saves running logs, and implements remote functions. <Client> Client is a remote sub-system. Client application is used to remotely receive and preview live data, search data and control periphery equipment in server. <IE Client> The IE Client has the same function with Client, but runs as an ActiveX plugin in internet explorers (IE only). 5 Principle This product can be only installed in PC which iis based on Windows systems. By the collaboration of Server, Client, and IE Client. The system implements the capture, process, storage and transer of video and audio data. NextPage

6 Characterisctics The system is designed in module-oriented way, because each module is independent and interactive. 15 Logon: Input user name and password to logon DVR. After logon, the icon become, now the UI is unlocked. Lock: When UI is unlocked, click to lock UI, the icon become, now the UI is locked. 3 UI control button 1,4,9,16,25 screen mode Full-screen mode Roll mode Capture still image Full-screen mode: Select full-screen. In full-screen mode, right click video panel, select the "exit full-screen" in the poped menu to back to normal screen mode. Roll mode: R oll to display video in 4-channel group for several seconds from the first to the last channel, the roll interval can be set in system configuration dialog. Capture still image: After select desired channel, capture to save image, user can set save path in storage configuration dialog. 4 Record control panel The system provides 2 type of record mode : manual and schedule. The record mode can be viewed in system info panel: Manual Schedule

16 Schedule mode: software enable or disable record automatically according to the schedule set in record settings dialog. the record control panel will display the record of each channel : white color means the channel is not recording now, green color means recording, red color means pre-recording. Application provides pre-record and delay-record technology to ensure that the complete course of accidental events can be recorded. For example : If user set motion detection record type for a channel, when there's no motion events, the channel is in the state of pre-recording, it doesn't write to disk. Once there's a motion event happened, the system will save the pre-recorded data to disk and then delay-record for several seconds. Manual mode: Click buttons in record control panel will switch record mode to manual. User can start or stop record by operation in this panel. The record schedule will not work in manual mode. To switch back to schedule mode, you can select "Schedule" in record settings dialog. Start all channels' record Stop all channels' record 5 Play window control Left click or right click one channel can set the channel as current selected channel. After select desired channel, you can capture snapshots,control PTZ, preview live audio, and so on. Right click : Right click the desired screen to switch to other channel: "Full screen" to enter full screen mode. "Select channel" to view the new selected channel in this video screen "Save image" to capture snapshot for selected channel, the save path refer to storage configuration dialog. 18 Video Settings Basic settings Video mask Record parameters Color adjustment Audio record Audio amplifier 1, Basic settings Enable camera : When checked this box, user can preview and record the channel and operations to the corresponding channel work.vice versa when unchecked. Channel name : The channel name text will display on the channel's video window. OSD text color : Set the OSD text color, divide to normal state and checked state. 2, Video mask First select "Add" or "Delete", then click on the video screen on the right to add or delete black regions. One channel can be set up to 4 rectangle regions. 3, Record parameters Set record quality and framerate Record quality : The record quality is divided to 5 levels. The high record quality means better definition, but also leads to more disk space occupation, more CPU consumption. User can set appropriate record level based on hardware.

19 Record framerate : System has different record framerate settings for day and night to facility the framerate control. User can set "Night drop frame time" in system configuration dialog to define night-time, and other time is day-time. 4, Color set Set the brightness, contrast, saturation, hue of channel. User can drag the cursor or input number to set. 5, Audio set Record audio : Choose if to insert audio data into video data in AVI file. If user don't want to record audio, uncheck this button to save disk space. Apply to : This function facilitate user to copy current setting to other channels. 6, Audio capture Sample amplifier : Control the sample amplifier NextPage

20 Motion Detect 1 2 Invoke Motion settings 1, Invoke: When motion detected Invoke Alarm : Send alarm outputs. Invoke Sending Send to specified box. Invoke Playing sound : Play sound through PC's speaker. 2, Motion settings: Mask filter: Set grids color on video window above. Add, Delete, Delete All : Operate motion-detection regions, (right click or drag mouse to operate regions) Sensitivity : Set the sensitivity of moton detection. NextPage

21 Tour: Enable soft tour function, soft tour pos and stay time can be set when set preset poses, it can be modified after set. PTZ Settings 1 2 Basic Settings Speed Dome Settings 1, Basic Settings Select PTZ protocol. Set COM port, baudrate, PTZ address, send times, speed. Click direction buttons to test PTZ and apply settings when satisfied. 2 Speed Dome Settings Set preset pos, cruise, scan of speed dome. PresetPos: The PresetPos List control lists all preset poses set in current channels by this computer, User can click "Set", "Call", "Modify", "Delete" buttons to finish operation. Preset poses with * are reserved preset poses reserved by this type of speed dome. Many speed dome use these preset poses to implement special functions such as call speed dome's menu, flip. Soft Keyboard : These buttons can be used to substitute keys of hard keyboards. Most speed domes use these keys to control menu. Such as Iris +,- of PelcoD protocol is used to enter or quit menu.

23 Record Settings The application provides 2 record modes: manual and schedule Here is the dialog for user to select record mode and set schedule when schedule mode is enabled 1 Manual mode and schedule mode When manual mode selected, then system will disable schedule record, user can start or stop record through operate on control panel. For detail info : To see record control panel in main window. If schedule mode selected, user can set every day's record schedule as he want. 2 Select record type There are 4 record types : Continuous, Sensor, Motion, None; For detail refer to "Terminology ". 3 Weekday schedule Select the same hour : Click in grey hour grid will set the record type of that hour of all days in a week to selected record type.

24 Selcet one day : Click in day grid will set all record types of that day to selected record type. Select all : Click the 'Set all' grid will set all hours in a week to selected record type. Select freely : Click or drag mouse in the per-hour record grids will set corresponding hour to selected record type. Apply to : Copy record schedule of current channel to other channels

25 Select channels desired to copy to, then the record schedule of current channel will copied to those channels. 4 Special date schedule Add, delete special date : User can set up to 4 special-record-schedule dates. Set date record : After input a date, click in the grids of that date will set the corresponding hours to selected record type. Select all : Click the 'all' grid will set all hours of all date listed below to selected record type. NextPage

The time excluded is seen as day-time.

27 4 Record settings Packet Length :Set the time length of a record file packet. for example : set the length to 15 minutes means there's 4 file packets per channel-hour. Pre-record : Set the pre-record time length (in seconds) for triggered record type (Motion or Sensor event). This is also the parameter of delay-record. 5 Init settings Control if to display init set dialog which provides init settings when the program start up. Check or uncheck this option to show or hide the dialog. 6 Disable hot-keys Control if user can use system hot keys. 7 Alarm options To Alarm Set ; NextPage

Driver space info can be seen by moving the mouse on the driver checkbox. 2 Disk info Driver name, total space, free space 3 Storage policies When the valid storage space is full, chose to "Do not record" or "Delete old files". Do not record : program will not save to disk when space is full, and also it will not delete old record files. Delete old files : delete old files by oldest hour or oldest day when storage space is full. 4 Snapshot save path

30 Network Configuration Network ports settings Network control settings Domain name service 1 Network ports Network ports are communication port for server application provides network service, only change it when you needed to. Control port and transport port are the port for communication between server and client, make sure the port is identical for server-end and client-end. For detail, refer to "Client operation instruction ". 2 settings The application provides sending service. If this function is enabled, when motion or sensor events was signaled, will be sent to specified address with image annex as an option. 3 Net control settings Network type : provides LAN and WAN for choose LAN : program will not use dual-bitrates mode. if server-end and client-end are run in one subnet, please choose this option to provide good quality.

31 WAN : program will use dual-bitrates mode, if server-end and client-end are run in different subnet through Internet, please choose this option to save server PC's resource. Network video quality : Provides 3 level of quality. Set the quality of network video. In the circumstance of same bandwidth, good quality means dropped framerate. 4 Domain name service Provides free domain name service, facilitate user to get direct access to remote servers from clients. 32 User Management To securite the DVR system, all user management are done by super user "admin". The user "admin" can not be deleted, "admin" can change other users' password, rights, and can also add and delete users Users list Password modification Right settings 1 Users list Add user : Only user "admin" has this right.

33 Delete user : Only user "admin" has this right. To do this, first select the user to delete, then click "delete". Note that the super user "admin" can not be deleted. 2 Password modification User "admin" can modify all users' password, and normal user can only modify password of itself. To modify password, first select the desired user, then click "modify". 3 Right settings Only user "admin" has the modify right, first select desired user, the "right set" panel will list all rights of that user. 34 AlarmSet 1 Alarm Setting COM Number: select the COM Number which the Alarm connect with the PC. Please do not be the same of other COM devices connected with the PC. Protocol: select the communication protocol of the external alarm box. After the selection, the protocol parameter will appear in the dialog box, which will be easy for the customer to config the alarm. Alarm output time: the alarm last time can be set by the software. The parameter is 10s to 60s or not stop. You can also shut down the alarm output by hand. For example: if you set some channel as motion recording with external alarm input, when the channel detect motion, it will start the alarm and last for the time you set. Alarm connection: when you start using the alarm box, after setting the COM Number, please press the Alarm Connectino testing to initialize the alarm box connection. If the connection is OK, the system will connect the alarm box automatic in the future. If you changed the alarm box or the alarm setting, please press the Alarm Connectino testing also. The connectio status will be the following: 1) alarm box is connected and working well. 2) Do not detect the alarm box; Do not detect the alarm box means the COM port of the PC is working well but the external alarm box can not communicate by the COM port. 3) Open the Com device failed. This means the COM port is wrong or the COM port is be occupied. 2 Communication setting Every channel can set alarm in and alarm out independently, and the system will complete the alarm setting according to your parameter.

35 1 Alarm out(working with the motion recording, when detect motion, alarm out will be triggered.) It will be valid when the recording type of the channel is motion recording. When detected motion, it will trigger the alarm out signal as your setting.(for example: if the channel 1 is set, when there are motion things in the channel 1, the Number 01 of the alarm box will output the alarm signal.) 2 Alarm in(working with the alarm recording, alarm in will trigger the alarm recording) It will be valid when the recording type is alarm recording: When the software detected alarm input from the alarm box, it will trigger the recording. (for example: if the channel 1 is set as Alarm input -01, when there are input signal from the alarm input port of the Alarm box 01, the channel 1 will start recording. Besided the software support one alarm input with many video channel. For example, if you set the alarm input - 01 with the video channel 1,2,3 etc. When the alarm input appear at the alarm channel 01, it will trigger the video recording at the video channel 1,2,3 etc.)

36 Playback introduction 1 Calendar control The dates which have record data displayed as blue. When one date selected, it displayed as red and allits record info will list in the search control. 2 Screen division User can view channels up to selected screen divsion number. So when switched from big screen division mode to small screen division mode, remaining channels which were playing will be closed. 3 Record search control

41 Client UI instruction Menubar Toolbar Host list dialog Play window 1 Menubar <1> "System": do "Link", "Configure", "Exit"; <2> "View" : Show "PTZ Window", "File List Window" or set "Screen Model" 2 Toolbr <1> Open all the cameras of remote host you choosed. Before do this, please close all the playing windows and choose a host. <2> Close all the playing windows. <3> Link the remote host. <4> Show the "File List Window", and you can look over, play or Download the record file on remote host.(please search the file first).

44 Client Operation instruction Link Hot key : Alt + F2 Click "System"--"Link", show the dialog: Host: Enter the IP address or domain name of the remote host.if you want to use the domain name service please the remote host has registered first. see domain name service. UserName: Please enter the username of the remote host Password: Please enter the password of the remote host Control Port and Tranfer Port: Please enter the right port of the remote host.(when you use domain name, you needn't enter the port) 2 Configure Hot key: alt + F3 or Click "System"--"Configure", show the dialog: Init Set: Choose weather show the "Video Standard Dialog" when init. the Video Standard Dialog used to set the Video Standard. (for example, if the remote host user PAL stardard, then you should choice PAL and it will be error if you choose NTSC). Storage Set: The snap and download file will be save in the "Dvr_Storage", which is in you install driver. Save host address: Choose weather save the host name when connected(the control port and tranfer port will also be saved).

45 If you choose "remote file search", the date choose dialog will show. then please choice the date which you want to search on the remote host. The result will be show in the "Remote File Window", please see below: Remote Host Control When link successed, the host you linked will show in the "Host List Window" Auto re-connect: when disconnect from the remote host by network problems, the client will connect the host automatically: disconnected: reconnected: Camera control: Play Stop Play the camera in the idle play window selected. Stop play (record) the channel selected. Remote file Set the search date and search on the remote host, to findrecord files on remote host. Record Record the video to local computer. Stop record Stop record the video. Snapshot Catch a picture of the video.

Double click "12 : 00", show the file list of that hour. as below: file play and control: First choose a empty video window in left panel, double click file icon or select in popup menu to control play, stop, record, stop record, snap.

50 IE Client instruction The Ie client is used to connect the remote host in you Explorer. Please consult the Client instruction above. When you first use it, please enter ***.amixor.com, the address (***.amixor.com)is the domain name which you have regiested at server application. Then the web page will prompt you to download and install the ActiveX. please select "Yes" to install the ActiveX control. If your security settings don't allow this, please change your explorer setting: "Tool"--"internet option" -- "security" -- "custom". Set all items of ActiveX to "Enable". NextPage

51 Dynamic Domain Name Service DNS is an alias resolve system used widely in Internet as a vital part. The domain name is widely accepeted by people than IP address because it's easy to remember. The Internet provides DNS service to resolve IP address to domain name. As an optional service, we also provide dynamic DNS for user to more easily to use our remote surveillance system. To use this service, user just need to request a customized name, our DDNS system can build the relationship between the name and its IP. Then user can access server just by the domain name. 1 New user registration User only need to following steps: In server application, open "Network Configuration", Click "Register Domain name", show the dialog: Input your desired name, then click "Register". After registered successfully, then pop up a message box: "Register successed" 2 How to use IE Client 1, you need to enter the domain name you have registered: ***.amixor.com to link to the host( when first time use, you need download a ActiveX control. This will install our IE ActiveX on client PC. 2, Refresh the web page, show the IE plugin. 3, Click the "Connect" button.in poped dialog input your domain name, user name and password to connect. Client Operations in Client application is same as IE Client's 3rd step.

52 Remonte Connetion Problem solution: 1. surveillance host have conneted in the LAN but do not connect to the internet. And other terminal want to connet the host. If you surveillance host cannot connect with the internet the Domain Name Service(DNS) can not work. Please use the terminal program, and input the host IP address with the PORT Number to connect the host(reference to the control port and tranceiver port in the Network Setup ) 2 Prompt Domain Name Service(DNS) connect failed when using the IE or the terminal to connect the host by the Domain Name. Please check whether the PC can connect to the internet. After confirming that the network connection is working well, please try connect again. 3 Prompts can not find remote host, when using the domain connection at the IE or the customer terminal. The DNS server do not have corresponding domain name or IP address. Please confirm that you have input the right IP address or domain name. The DVR domain name made up of 12 number or letter and the amixor.com such as xxx.amixor.com. 4 Prompt host program is not running or host port setting error! when you using the domain name to make the connection. Please check you host as following steps: 1) please check your host program is running OK and the host can connect to the internet. 2) Please check whether the Windows firewall have blocked the host program, if the internet connection is ok, when you run the software at the first time, the window firewall will prompt a picture,and you should select "allow" to make the network service of the host work well. 3) You can also the following way to check whether the firewall have blocked the host network service. Right click the network neighborhood, select property. Click the local connection in the dialog box, and select property. Click advance in the pop up dialog box. In the windows firewall page, select setting, as following: If the windows firewall is in closing status, go back, do not need to go to next step. Screen division : Screen split modes for user to choose in surveillance system, user can select screen Record mode : Record modes divide to manual-record and schedule-record, and schedule-record mode has several record-types for set: continuous record, motion record, alarm record. Manual record : The record mode that user use mouse to manually enable or disabel record. Schedule record : The record mode that set record schedule to let the surveillance system record automatically. This record mode is suitable for unattended circumstance. So user can low the resolution to 1024x768 to solve this. 5, Why buttons doesn't work in main dialog and configure dialog? The system is started in lock status. Check if the system is in lock state. If it is unlock state, make sure the user has enough rights to operate. 6, How to select suitable image compression ratio? The video quality is proportional to record file size. 7, How to examine the disk space? There is disk space info in main information panel of main dialog. 8, Why can not clear old record files when "Clear old files" of storage policies is selected? If user mis-deleted the folder application installed, or mis-damaged the index files. Software will not found old files anymore, so it can not manage to delete those files. So if user want to unistall software, do not delete folder directly, should to follow the steps "Start" -> "Programs" -> "DVR" -> "Uninstall". 9, Why can not record anymore? If user hasn't set "Delete old files", then software will not save record to disk anymore when disk space is full. 10, Why record files lost or disk fault after run for a period? If user system are baseed on win2000 and the hard-disk is bigger than 130G. Please install big-hd patch, Or else it will emerge unknown error.

57 12, Why pop message "The host is not running or the port is set error!" when use client to connect server? The maybe causes are : 1, The server application is not open. 2, The ports set are different between server and client. 3, Please check your firewall settings : Right click "Network neighbor", double click "Local Connection", open "Property", click tab "advanced". a, close firewall b, select tab "exceptions", add the DVR application in. 13, Why can not play remote record files? To guarantee the stableness of server application. System limit the file number supported by server application at the same time. If user can found record files, but can not play it, may be the remote server has reached its top value of playing remote files, or the file has been cleared for save storage space.
