Skylar Branstool, Litigation Technology Analyst at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP Skylar has five years of experience working in the litigation technology department at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP. He focuses on processing and producing e-discovery and has significant experience in social media collection. He is currently certified in the Lateral Data Viewpoint processing and review platforms. Skylar is a Regional Member Liaison in Columbus for the International Legal Technology Association. In this elected volunteer position, he promotes education and networking within the e-discovery support field throughout Ohio. David Hasman, Litigation Support Manager at Bricker & Eckler David provides consulting on litigation and e-discovery matters for the firm. His responsibilities include designing, implementing and maintaining data through the discovery process for litigation matters. He also manages data for public records requests for the firm s large public sector practice. In addition, David coordinates special projects for the firm and is responsible for the evaluation, selection and negotiation of agreements with third-party discovery vendors. David supports matters for more than 60 litigators in various practices throughout the firm. Julie Brown, Litigation Technology Manager at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP Julie currently manages the litigation technology department at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP. The department provides consultation, support, training, processing and production of e-discovery. She is currently on the EDRM Advisory Committee and working on the ESI Processing Specifications project. Julie has written articles on vendor selection and the production of electronic discovery. She also drafted the EDRM Production Standards in She serves on ILTA s Litigation and Practice Support Peer Group Steering Committee. Julie is certified in Viewpoint, LAW 5.0, Sanction, Summation applications, ITIL and Lean Six Sigma. She has a paralegal degree and over 20 years of experience working in law firms and a Fortune 500 litigation department. Catherine Hawes, Legal Technology Specialist - Information Technology Services at the Ohio Attorney General s Office Catherine began her career in the litigation support arena in 1989 at DocuCon, Inc., where she headed up the legal division and handled large-scale, complex litigation. In 2008, she served as the first African-American president in the history of the Paralegal Association of Central Ohio and was awarded Paralegal of the Year. Catherine has been published in the National Paralegal Reporter and Columbus Bar Briefs on topics such as complex litigation, paralegal certifications and the electronic document management of large-scale cases. She also authored curriculum for the fall 2012 electronic discovery paralegal course at Graduate Schools USA in Washington, D.C. Amie Dutey, Litigation Technology Manager in the Discovery Management Unit within the Office of the Chief Legal & Governance Officer at Nationwide Insurance Amie and her team are responsible for the acquisition, assessment and delivery of information and data in response to discovery in corporate litigation and regulatory inquiries, including all stages outlined in the EDRM. She and her staff consult with legal teams and business units on e-discovery workflows, providing guidance on database design, the use of analytics and recommendations on mining electronic data. Amie is responsible for all aspects of vendor selection and relationship management to ensure proper data management. Though her career at Nationwide is filled with many success stories, Amie is most proud of her role developing and implementing the litigation technology job family at Nationwide in Rodney Holaday, Partner at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP Rodney represents clients in complex business and class action litigation involving lender liability disputes, merger disputes, securities, electronic discovery and appellate practice. He also has notable experience conducting internal investigations and preparing responses related to governmental investigations. Rodney advises boards and public institutions on actions involving public records requests and open meetings law. Andrew Keck, Director of Technology at Profile Discovery Andrew has worked in the litigation support industry for over 15 Years. He holds degrees in criminal justice and psychology from Ashland University and is currently pursuing his master s degree in cybersecurity and intelligence. Andrew is an AccessData Certified Examiner (ACE), a Summation Certified End User (SCE), and he provides consulting for the legal community.
10 Information about our speakers. Rene Laurens, Relativity Analyst at kcura Rene spends much of his time on the team assisting clients with optimizing their processing workflows. Prior to joining kcura, Rene served as a senior litigation support analyst and Relativity administrator in a law firm environment. Aaron Lewis, Director of Ethics and Compliance at Cardinal Health Aaron has been involved with e-discovery at Cardinal for the past eight years. He is responsible for a team that handles internal investigations and litigation support. Over the years, Cardinal Health as brought the e-discovery workflow in-house to support an average of 100 litigations per year with about 2,000 active custodians. Stephanie Maw, E-Discovery/Litigation Support Director at Keating Muething & Klekamp PLL Stephanie administers the firm s e-discovery and litigation support services, with a focus on e-discovery strategy, compliance and technology implementation. She is the director of a cross-disciplinary group operated jointly between KMK s litigation practice group and the information technology group. Her role as KMK s E-Discovery Task Force Chair makes her uniquely suited to lead the firm s efforts to bridge the gap between counsel, information technology, information security and business groups in formulating proactive, defensible and cost-effective e-discovery best practices and solutions for clients. Sarah Miller, Attorney at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP Sarah is an attorney in the firm s litigation and information systems departments. Her experience includes extensive document review, case management, vendor selection and providing litigation support systems training for attorneys and paralegals. As part of the litigation support team, Sarah organizes and manages large document review projects, which have included matters for several Fortune 500 companies. Sarah also advises attorneys regarding in-house and outside vendor review platforms, and she consults on relevance and privilege determinations on ESI. With experience on several trial teams, Sarah assists with strategic trial presentations. She has created and managed several electronic courtroom presentations for matters. Jennifer Pettigrew, CEDS, Litigation Support Analyst at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP Jennifer is a legal technology professional with 15 years of experience in managing data life cycles, from database design and data analytics to integrated query compositions and structured data productions with a focus on adherence to and development of guidelines for corporate compliance and communications. Jennifer joined Taft, Stettinius and Hollister in July of 2012 as a litigation support analyst, and she became a Regional Member Liaison in litigation support for ILTA s North Central region in Jennifer graduated from Capital University Law School and was admitted to the Ohio Bar in Greg Veatch, IT Legal Technology Specialist at Ohio Attorney General s Office Greg has been with the AGO since He supports 14 legal sections with technology, litigation and e-discovery needs. Previously, Greg spent eight years as a complex litigation paralegal in the environmental department at Bingham McCutchen LLP. During that time, he worked on several large, high-profile cases that required the use of multiple databases and other legal technologies. He also was a member of the Los Angeles Paralegal Association and is experienced in case management and project management, certified in LAW, and familiar with various e-discovery technologies. Geoff Wilcox, Managing Director at UnitedLex (keynote) Geoff has 10 years of e-discovery experience, helping clients design defensible and cost-effective solutions. Passionate about driving value for clients and opening new career pathways for talented professionals working in e-discovery, Geoff has focused throughout his career on bridging gaps and building synergy among lawyers, technologists and business people. Geoff received his law degree from Harvard Law School. Jay Yurkiw, Partner at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP (keynote) Jay s areas of practice are business and intellectual property litigation, and he chairs Porter Wright s e-discovery practice group. Jay has represented clients in cases involving business contracts, class actions, covenants not to compete, intellectual property, trade secrets and the Uniform Commercial Code.
