The VI Client provides a simple and flexible user interface from which you can create new virtual machines through manual configuration, from templates, or by cloning existing virtual machines. All virtual machines are created in place using a wizard that guides you through the steps to produce a complete and working Preparation Virtual Center or ESX Server connected with console are available. virtual machine. Procedures 1. Choose File > New > Virtual Machine 2. Select a folder or the root of a datacenter, and click Next 3. Select a datastore in which to store the virtual machine files, and click Next 4. Under Guest Operating System, select the operating system family (Microsoft Windows, Linux, Novell NetWare, Solaris, or Other), select the version from the pull-down menu, and click Next 5. Configure the virtual machine s memory size by selecting the number of megabytes, and click Next. 6. Choose the networks to connect to and their options by selecting how many network adapters (NICs) you want to connect to, the names of the networks, and whether you want to connect to them at power on, and click Next 7. Specify the size of the virtual disk, and click Next 8. On the Ready to Complete page, review your options, and click Finish. Expected Results 1. 20 Test case 8. VMWare High Availability Description The HA cluster feature allows the virtual machines running on ESX Server systems to automatically recover from host failures. When a host goes down, all associated virtual machines are immediately restarted on other hosts in the system. This section first considers differences between VMware HA clusters and traditional clustering solutions, then presents HA cluster concepts. Preparation -A cluster is available for the ESX Server and the VM is running on the ESX Server or cluster. -Enable HA for a cluster Procedures 1. Right Click the ESX Server which the testing VM are running 2. In the pop up menu click power off or use a psychics power button to turn off the ESX Server 3. To confirm the ESX Server is power off, in the inventory the status of ESX Server is Disconnected Expected Results The VM will automatically restart to another ESX Server in several minute while another ESX server goes down.
