Only first name as there are not enough characters for your whole name. Only check the middle box, you must UNCHECK the 1 st and 3 rd box to avoid getting spam on . Then hit Register Me Now! 3

5 Find the LOT Contest, click on Find a Contest in the middle of this page. On the next page, click on Find Contests: Classrooms & Private Groups on the ride side of the screen. On the very next page, in the search box on the right, type in 2014 LOT. Hit Go. 5

6 Join the Game (On this page you will see 2014 LOT Stock Game on the left, however, you must click on the Join Now link on the right side. Also on this page, you will see the game ending date and your starting cash amount of $500,000. Enter our private game password (The password is all lowercase: benjamins. Also read the details about the game on this page before you sign in so that you can understand the rules of the game. 6

7 Success (You are now a part of the 2014 Leaders of Tomorrow Stock Game). Ranking Page If you have done everything correctly you should see your name on the game Ranking page. 7

How To Buy Stocks From the Account Summary page, you can look at the cash balance of your account and see a summary of your stock transactions including your profit-to-date.

The additional tabs on this page show: Ranking Status Trade Now (to buy or sell stocks) Order Status (to check status of orders you make) Trading History Account Graph My Profile To begin making trades, click on the Trade Now tab. 8

Trade Now Screen On the Trade Now screen, you select the number of shares you want to buy and you must input the company s ticker symbol. This is a letter code used to buy and sell stocks.

If you do not know this code, use the lookup tool. Be careful as the results may come back showing multiple iterations of a company s stock. Make sure you choose the primary code. (see bottom of next page for an example). If you do not know for sure, ask someone Before you hit the Trade button, make sure you are buying, selling, short selling or covering a short (both of these last two are very complicated so be careful). This gray box is a sponsored ad box but it has a great calculator that lets you estimate how many shares you can buy based on the amount of cash you have left and the company s current stock price. 9

Bad Symbol Lookup Example This example shows why you need to make sure you have the correct company when looking up a ticker symbol.

10 Trade Confirmation After you hit the Trade button, you still need to confirm your trade before submitting it. It will show the number of shares you are buying and the total amount of the transaction. If you are sure you want to buy the stocks, hit Yes otherwise hit Cancel. Bad Symbol Lookup Example This example shows why you need to make sure you have the correct company when looking up a ticker symbol. Coca Cola for example has many subsidiaries. It s primary ticker symbol on the NYSE is KO. However none of these in the search show that. They are all subsidiaries. You want to buy the primary stock. This is why doing your research is of the utmost importance. 10

11 Stock Quotes, Charts and News Pages Remember to always do your research before buying stocks. Clicking on the Quotes, Charts and News pages will give you vital information about a company.
