2 ABOUT US The Department of Physics and Electronics FM known as DOPE FM is a student run campus/community radio station broadcasting from the National University of Lesotho. DOPE FM was founded in 2000 by the Department of Physics and Electronics with the aim of providing students with theoretical, technical and professional training in telecommunication with emphasis in radio production and broadcasting. DOPE FM broadcasts in both English and Sesotho and caters not only to the NUL students and staff, but also high school pupils and a broader youth community of Roma Valley on the frequency mhz. Our mission is to be the vital resource of building the community, by airing information that is relevant, delivering high quality programming and entertainment by creating a platform for local artists. DOPE FM broadcasts from 0600hrs 0000hrs every day of the week. Our programme format is 65% music (we strive to play 50% local and 15% international) and 35% talk. Programming on DOPE FM has transformed over the past 10 years, to include talk shows, specialized music programming as well as student issues directly pertaining to the community. We pride ourselves in being the voice of the students, for the students, and strive to engage in topical issues that affect NUL students as well as the youth of the Roma Valley community. By incorporating the faculties across NUL, through student s associations, we aim to get to the hearts of the matters within the Roma Valley and maintain the moral responsibility to the community we serve. DOPE FM is not just an infotainment portal, we aim at challenging our listeners to engage in hard-hitting debates that plague our country, The need to discuss issues within the social fabric of our country through effective and progressive talk. DOPE FM radio actively engages with its listeners best described as inspirational youth, you with a strong desire to succeed in their respective careers, or aspiring careers, finances, and personal lives, but a youth that still has social conscience to plough back into the community they live in.
