2 Hello! My name is Syed Lagoon and I am a UX Designer & Researcher with a broad UX skillset that ranges from user research and competitive analysis to rapid wireframing and prototyping My formal education is in political science and I also have experience with teaching Lego Robotics and technical recruiting. I practice User-Centered Design, which to me is more then simply a methodology but a necessary philosophy for creating the best digital products My belief is that a focus on the user paired with an iterative and creative process leads to the successful products. 4 Discover & Research When a project first begins, it is important for me to balance the needs of users with the needs of the business and brand. Finding the common throughline between these different priorities is the key to developing an MVP and prioritizing the necessary features. Locating problems is essential, and I do so by focusing my research on users. Getting feedback, finding potential users and excavating information about their needs and then building personas that are representive of their needs and perspectives. Empathizing with users is the first step towards solving their problems. 6 Test & Iterate Users should be brought in often at different stages of the design process. It isn t enough to simply create an interface, but to showcase them and test them with real users. Doing usability tests at different levels of fidelity bear insightful fruit to how people will experience using the product I design and highlight problems that need to be dealt with. The earlier problems are unearthed the quicker solutions can be hammered out. When you re trying to make something that leaves with people with a positive impression, you can t test often enough. 7 Specify & Build Once designs are finalized, that isn t the end of my responsibilities. Proper design communication is a high priority for me. Good design doesn t exist in a vacuum and the best way to communicate your work with developers, stakeholders, and collaboraters is by simply showing them not only how you envision the design to be but show your thought process to help validate your design. 9 The Project At AgilityIO, we had the opportunity to pitch an internal mobile app to an investment bank. They had an existing desktop CRM, but we were looking to show them what that same software would look like on mobile, allowing their employees access to their contacts and clients on the go. Deliverables Content Strategy Feature Prioritization Site Maps Use Cases Wireframes My Role A large amount of the visual design and feature prioritization was my responsibility. I had to keep in contact with our client and incorporate their feedback as well as show our progress. I collaborated with other AgilityIO designers on iterating sitemaps and designing the interface.

13 Case Study #2 Intrepid Travels Responsive Redesign Redesigning a travel website for mobile as well as improving usability and site navigation.
14 The Project Intrepid was a class project where we were given an existing site and told to improve it by redesigning it. For Intrepid we aimed for a responsive redesign as well as improving the content strategy of the site as well as the search navigation. Deliverables Research Report Documentation of Design Process Sitemap Mockups Prototype Presentation My Role I was primarily in charge of user research, interviewing potential users and reporting on their findings. Also, I participated in a design studio where we finalized our redesign solution, such as the Mad-lib trip finder and the category icons. After the high-fidelity mockups were finalized, I built the prototype and worked on our design presentation and pitch.
