2 - 1 - For the first time, the «Centre international de formation européenne» has organised the Black sea summer university in Azerbaijan from July 22 th to 28 th. The one week summer school took place in Baku in collaboration with the Center of Strategic Studies. The foreign students were accommodated together with the lecturers in a very nice and comfortable location, Park Inn Hotel, in the most interesting side of the city, just beside the government palace and very close to the old city. So, everybody had good opportunities to visit Baku during the evening. The academic program was structured around a lot of topics about the geopolitics of the Black sea regarding its wider aspects : the relations between European Union and the Black sea region, Regionalism, Transportation, geopolitics and economic aspects, Foreign policy, European Neighbourhood Policy, Energy transition, etc. The programme contained approximately 30 hours of lectures and discussions. They were conducted in English by international experts from European Union and from Azerbaijan. The participants represented 8 different nationalities. Probably because they were for the first time in a very new country for them, they immediately formed a "friendly family" whose links probably will remain for a long time. In addition, the participants enjoyed a rich extra programme which helped them to savour the culture and the gastronomy of this special country. A full day was organised in a very popular summer resort with beach, swimming pools and a lot of summer games. All the candidates completed the program successfully and received a certificate of participation. Additionally, those students who presented some supplementary work after the session acquired ECTS Credits. We also asked our students at the end of the session to fill out the evaluation questionnaire and comment upon our programme. Their observations, which can be found further on in this report have been of immense value for us, organisers. This first experience with SAM was considered as a great success and Cife thanks the partners to have accepted this first session together and for their efficient collaboration. We hope that this programme in Baku will continue once more in 2015.

12 EVALUATION The evaluation session organised at the end of the session and the examination of the forms proved a large satisfaction of the students and the experts regarding the programme as well as the organisation. We can consider that the program has been widely praised with a level of satisfaction of more than 95%. Studying conditions and accommodation were rated exceptionally high with the combination of very nice location in the city center and a very comfortable hotel, with conference room in the same place. Taking in consideration the very hot temperature in July in Baku, this logistic was very appreciated. The choice of topics was appreciated and judged interesting and useful. The panel of the lecturers, from Azerbaijan and from abroad, was very well appreciated. Regarding the lectures and the speakers, the students made many positive comments on our team of lecturers which additionally gave them insight into different subjects. In addition, the candidates have all noticed a very large satisfaction about - relations with the staff, - administrative assistance offered before and during the program - cultural and tourist activities offered outside the program - conduction of the educational program, etc. Everybody has agreed that free time during the evening in the center of the city, with the help of their new Azeri friends was wonderful specially because of the very nice location of the hotel,. This experience of academic programme and living together with a large representation of nationalities will benefit each one in the future and probably will give the opportunity to create deeper links between the participants. The general opinion was a perfect mixture of leisure activities and lectures. A day-trip organised the last day, in a very popular seaside resort, was the occasion to close the program enjoying swimming, but also some rest after a very busy week.. for the classes, but also during the nights.. The students wishing to acquire ECTS Credits were confronted with a jury for an oral exam. At the end, each student has received a certificate proving his participation in the programme. In conclusion, all candidates have been very satisfied with the program and expressed the wish to follow another summer session of CIFE in the future. This success was in large part the result of the perfect organization and collaboration of the local partner. CIFE warmly thanks all the managers of Center of Strategic Studies in Baku and specially Ariz for their involvement, their confidence and their friendship. We hope that the partners have been fully satisfied and ready to start again.
