2 CDC of Tampa s Organizational Achievements Programs: Since 1995, the creation of a Career Resource Center has provided both job training and placement services to over 12,000 residents. Formed in 1996 our Business Center has assisted over 800 businesses with technical assistance and business training and has made 38 micro loans totaling over $734,800, before ending service in The East Tampa Business Center provides technical and financial assistance and affordable lease space at discounted rates to 6 small businesses. The establishment of the Homeownership Center in 1999 has assisted residents pursue the American dream of owning a home. To date, over 3,500 residents have received homeownership counseling and education. In 2008 we begin Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling, serving over 3,000 clients. CDC of Tampa s Youth Development initiatives consist of its Youth Leadership and Prodigy programs having serviced to date over 3,500 youth.

7 Leveraged Resources Tampa receives federal grant for transit employment training This week, Tampa was awarded $234,281 from the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) Innovative Transit Workforce Development Program to implement "Meeting Today's and Tomorrow's Job Needs in Mass Transit," a recruitment and training partnership between the Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa, Inc. (CDC of Tampa) and HART. This project will recruit, train and employ up to 30 people in the transit industry, including transit operations and maintenance workers. On-the-job training puts unemployed to work The CDC of Tampa received about $117,000 in federal grants to train 25 lowincome residents for construction jobs

9 TAMPA VOCATIONAL INSTITUTE PROGRAMS CNG Fuel Station Maintenance 5 Weeks Duration Provides students with a fundamental understanding of CNG fuel station maintenance and operation Partnered with HART and with input from CNG fleet operators, the CNG program is designed to build a skilled workforce able to safely handle maintenance tasks in the growing CNG powered logistics field. Provides OSHA 10 Provides HAZWOPER Will add a CDL

10 TAMPA VOCATIONAL INSTITUTE PROGRAMS Wastewater Operator Certification Program 155 contact hours in duration meeting state licensure requirements Provides students with a full understanding of the operation of municipal wastewater treatment facilities Utilizes the nationally recognized Cal State Sacramento Wastewater Operator curriculum. Municipalities across the United States are facing a graying workforce in the water treatment arena. This program provides the pre-requisite classroom and hands-on instruction needed to begin a career in water treatment. Projections are for an increasing need for wastewater operators. These jobs are high-wage, secure, and sustainable!
