ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT Third Friday Mass, May 18, 2007 Please come and join our All Night Adoration on every First & Third Friday of each month. There will be a 7:00 PM Mass until 9:00 pm on Friday, followed by an All Night Vigil until 7:15 AM on Saturday morning. The First Friday Masses are in English and the Third Friday Masses are in Spanish. Patrick Moses In each of us is the natural desire to search for the one we love. Fr. Patrick was the youngest of three sons, born in Mission, Texas and raised by Catholic loving parents. After leaving home for college, his faith played less and less role in his life while money began to play a greater role in his life. He was consumed with the idea of money as the road to richness and success. Degrees in Economics and Finance led to careers in Banking and Real Estate. In the eyes of the world, he had everything he needed and wanted, yet there was a profound emptiness in his life. He realized that what he was missing was true and authentic love. Through the encouragement of friends, he answered the call to see Christ in his priesthood, a call that he initially resisted. Fr. Patrick lived and studied in Rome, Italy, literally under the shadows of St. Peter s Basilica and the late Pope John Paul II. His time in Rome provided him the valuable experience in the study of theology and the experience of the universal church. He was ordained for the Diocese of Orange on June 7, 2003 and was assigned to St. Polycarp for three months and was sent back to Rome for more academic studies. His journey to the priesthood has not been easy; Father met his own weaknesses and failings but understands that he will never be the owner of the priestly vocation he has received that he belongs to Christ the love and the One whom he has been searching for. Father Moses serves as the parochial vicar of St. Irenaeus Church in Cypress, CA. Come and experience the healing power of the Spirit!

Youth Ministry LIFE TEEN LIFE Nights are catechetical meetings that immediately follow the Youth Mass on Sunday evening from 7:15-8:45 PM and take place in the parish hall unless otherwise noted. ALL high school teenagers are invited and welcome to attend. Those in preparation for confirmation are expected to attend most nights. We conclude our semester with a series of issue nights and a social. May 13 Yo Momma goes to LIFE Night This night celebrates Motherhood with the whole family through fun, interactive, and intimate moments that make Mother s day Special. All are welcome to celebrate mothers this special evening. May 20 Krazy Kickball Remember how great it was in grade school? No worries! Tonight we ll trip back to those great times with a fun night of recess, but sorry nap time will not be provided. May 27 Confirmation Rite with Bishop Salazar: NO LIFE Night Sunday May 27 is Pentecost Sunday; it is also when St. Linus Parish will celebrate confirmation with the youth of the parish at the 5:30 evening Mass. Bishop Alex Salazar, our regional bishop, will be here to confirm our teens, please keep them in your prayers these next few weeks. Confirmation Registration materials for candidates returning to phase two of the process and any teens who are Graduating 8 th graders or older wishing to begin phase 1 for next year will be made available starting June 10 after the 5:30 Youth Mass. For complete registration a copy of the baptismal certificate, a current photo of the teen, $75 yearly fee, and the completed registration form must all be returned by August 25, Youth Ministry First Communion In addition to their preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation, the following teens will be receiving first communion in the month of May: Eunice Abuan, Patricia Ponce, Chrissel Orcino, and Jose Castellon. The Filipino Association of St. Linus is inviting you to watch the first ever original classic Filipino musical opera, Karim at Jasmin. A timeless story of love and intrigue, of duty and passion. Its original music and libretto by one of our parishioners, Ramon Sison Geluz, a member of our 9:00 a.m. and the Filipino Choir, with Alex Lagman, our pianist, as the musical director. This musical opera will be at the Long Beach Convention Center Terrace Theatre on Saturday, June 23, 2007 with 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. shows. Tickets are at $50 and $65 each. Divorced & Separated Peer Ministry/Support Group The Separated & Divorced Group of Saint Linus is a concerned Catholic resource for those suffering the grief surrounding the end of a marriage/relationship and to promote healing. We offer a safe environment where persons experiencing a broken relationship may find spiritual and emotional help on their healing journey with renewed hope. As a peer ministry, this program will help deal with the natural grief process and offer an opportunity, through God, for turning the paid of loss into an experience of positive growth. This group will meet on the 1 st and 3 rd Thursday of each month in the Parish Center from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. THE ROSARY BOWL Thank you to all who have signed up to go to the Rosary Bowl on May 19th. We have filled up one bus and are taking an additional 12 passenger van. Please be aware that your seat on the bus is not guaranteed until you have paid in full. If you are interested in going but have not signed up with Barbara or Anna, please call the Parish office as soon as possible. There are tickets available for anyone interested in driving themselves. The bus is scheduled to leave St. Linus at 4pm sharp. Monday, May 28 th is Memorial Day and we at St. Linus would like to honor and remember those who have served our country by serving in the Military at the 8:30 morning mass.
