1 IOWA INTERCOM March 2010 Issue RULES AND REGULATIONS UPDATE Technology Services Bureau has updated the rules and regulations regarding lapsed or expired certification. Effective immediately, users who allow their certification to lapse more than 90 days will be required to attend a certification class prior to re-testing, and will automatically be locked out of the online test after the 90 days. Attempts to logon to nextest will result in the following message: Your IOWA/NCIC certification has expired more than 90 days. You are now required to attend a certification class prior to re-certification. Please ensure your agency TAC (Terminal Agency Coordinator) contacts Technology Services to register you for a class. ALL PARTICIPANTS CONFERENCE SET Mark your calendars for the All Participants Conference. The date is Friday, May 21, 2010, from 7:30-4:30 at the Ankeny campus of Des Moines Area Community College. The conference will be held in Building 6, the DMACC auditorium. Free parking is available. A map of DMACC and tentative agenda are provided below. Registration is limited to two persons per agency. If you wish to send additional employees, they will be placed on a first come, first served, waiting list. If additional slots become available, your agency will be notified. To register for the conference, fill out the form provided below and it to: [email protected], or fax it to (515) (note: registration is preferred). The registration form can also be found on nextest under the CJIS Documents icon. Simply click on the APC folder, fill out the registration form, and back to Technology Services Bureau. The training continues to be held at 9:00 a.m. DPS HQ is located 215 East 7 th Street which is at the corner of East 7 th and Court Avenue. There is designated visitor parking which is accessed via Court Avenue. CHANGE TO DATE OF BIRTH MATCHING ON IOWA HITS As a result of the XML conversion of IOWA hotfiles, programming was changed to automatically check plus or minus one year on the date of birth. This was done to reduce the amount of wanted person responses from an inquiry. Prior to making this programming change, users were receiving unusually large amounts of responses. Users have the capability to expand the search to plus or minus two years by submitting the inquiry with EBS/1. If users want to expand the search to plus or minus three years, they may do so by submitting the inquiry with EBS/2.
