3 Bristol Gigabit Testbed A city scale digital infrastructure linking people and enabling test and experimentation with new technologies and applications at the leading edge

4 Background + Data has become a ubiquitous utility + Existing service networks struggling to keep up + Service networks not valid experimental platforms + Ability to commercialise technologies/applications limited by inability to demonstrate at scale. + High risk profile associated with such opportunities until scale achieved. + Not about access to optical fibre. + Need for city scale test-beds able to simulate service networks of the future
