4 Speakers Moderator Mr. Christian Kunze holds a PhD in management science. During ten years of industry experience in energy trading he held various international management positions for core industry players such as E.On Trading, Edison Trading SpA and Shell Energy Trading Ltd. In his position as Director of Studies at the Norwegian Centre of Expertise Smart Energy Markets he is responsible for research projects and educational initiatives. In addition, he is active as consultant and advisory board member in the energy industry and as visiting lecturer at universities. Siemens Innovative technologies and services from Siemens pave the way for efficient grids, intelligent power distribution, intelligent consumption as well as electromobility and smart buildings. In the field of smart grid technologies, Siemens provides their customers with a complete range of products, solutions, and services in every stage of the process. Anders Holm Foosnæs is responsible for business development within smart grids at Siemens Norway. He joined Siemens in August 2011 after serving four years in the Danish Energy Association, where he worked with the integration of electric vehicles in the power system. Germany Trade and Invest GmbH (GTAI) Germany Trade & Invest is the economic development agency of the Federal Republic of Germany. The organization promotes Germany as a business and technology location and supports companies based in Germany with global market information. Heiko Staubitz has been senior manager in the department for Renewable Energies & Resources within GTAI since He is responsible for the industrial settlement of international investors in Germany in the field of energy efficiency in buildings and smart grids. 4 SMART ENERGY MARKET DESIGN

5 Statnett Statnett is the Transmission System Operator (TSO) of the Norwegian electric power system. One of Statnett s core activities is the development of new technological solutions for improving the utilization and reliability of the power grids. Terje Gjengedal is professor in power production and power grids and has a long experience in the field of international energy research. Since 2011 he has been working as a special advisor for Statnett. Gjengedal is also the Norwegian delegate of the executive board of ISGAN (The International Smart Grid Action Network). Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi): E-Energy E-Energy is a state funded program for smart grids in Germany. The program covers six model projects that demonstrate the potential for optimization presented by information and communication technologies and how they can be harnessed to enhance the efficiency and environmental compatibility of the power supply and to ensure supply security. Jens Brinckmann is one of the project managers for the E-Energy Program at the BMWi and will present the project at the conference. Since 2009 Brinckmann has been working for the division Development of Convergent ICT within the Ministry of Economics and Technology. Ministry of Petroleum and Energy Eli Blakstad was appointed State Secretary to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy in Norway in She is a skilled agronomist and a chartered bookkeeper, and has been member of i.a. the NHO strategic council for tourism. Blakstad has been the leader of the Oppland Centre Party and a member of Oppland county Council, and has also held various national positions in the Centre Party. 5

6 Speakers The Norwegian Smartgrid Centre The Norwegian Smartgrid Centre is a national centre of expertise with approximately 40 members. The centre works on a broad front to ensure that society has access to the necessary expertise in connection with the establishment of, and adaptation to, a new, improved energy supply system. Kjell Sand is senior researcher at SINTEF Energy and technical manager at the Norwegian Smartgrid Centre. He also holds a part time position as professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). He has been with SINTEF Energy Research since 1978 working mainly with matters of power grids and systems. EnBW MeRegio Energie Baden-Württemberg AG is one of the largest energy companies in Germany and Europe and MeRegio is one of the six model regions of the state supported E-Energy Program. MeRegio develops smart grid infrastructure, which will allow real-time communication between energy consumers as well as multiple distributed energy resources and smart storage devices. Hellmuth Frey has been working for EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG for 16 years. Since January 2000 he has been project manager in the department Research and Innovation and since 2008 Frey has served as vice head of the research and innovation department of EnBW. NCE Smart Energy Market Through the NCE project Environmentally-Friendly Energy Trade, the NCE Smart Energy Market develops a centre of world-class expertise that works for significant green growth through green innovation in the fields of energy turnover, raw materials and climate quotes. Bernt A. Bremdal is professor at the Narvik University of Applied Sciences and functioning R&D responsible in NCE Smart Energy Markets, where he is leading the EU project IMPROSUME. Bremdal has worked for a long time in the field of petroleum, natural gas and electrical power and is very experienced in the field of R&D. 6 SMART ENERGY MARKET DESIGN

7 Next Kraftwerke GmbH Founded in October 2009, Cologne-based Next Kraftwerke specializes in the marketing of microgeneration plants for the electrical power market. In particular, the company integrates emergency power generators, co-generation units and biogas plants by means of intelligent networking on the minute reserve market. Hendrik Sämisch is the founder and CEO of Next Kraftweke GmbH. He is educated as an economist and has previous been working as research associate at EWI (Institute of Energy Economics at Cologne University). Skagerak Nett AS Smart Metering 2017 Skagerak Nett AS is a subsidiary of Skagerak Energi AS and is responsible for the company s distribution of electrical energy in the county of Vestfold. Michael Rapp is project manager of the project Smart Metering 2017 at Skagerak Nett AS. With this project, about customers will receive smart meters. Mr. Rapp has worked with consulting and business development in the field of IT services. Since 2007 he has been working as a business developer and project manager in the field of smart metering and holds his position in Skagerak Energi AS since
