Download "INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING OUT THE ONLINE APPLICATION FOR A RESEARCH SERVICE GRANT"

1 INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING OUT THE ONLINE APPLICATION FOR A RESEARCH SERVICE GRANT Please read the general information on the Research Service Grant program prior to completing the online application. See The online application is available at this website: If you have questions, please contact Margy May ) or Laurie Mayberry ). Fill out the application nomination information and click on the appropriate box at the bottom of the page. If you click Save and Continue to Next Page, you will see the following: Proposal Cover Page - Research Service Grant For Orientation and Guidance, View Research Service Grant Web Site (opens in new window) Years of UW Faculty Service: If Other, Please Explain: Have you ever had a Research Service Grant? If yes, what year? Proposal Title: Brief Abstract of Proposal: (75 Words or Less) All attached documents must be in PDF (.pdf) format! Please submit a PDF of the grant proposal information, including your name, department, the project title and a description of the project (no longer than three single spaced pages). Short CV (2-3 SINGLE SPACED PAGES): Name of Faculty Supporting Proposal:

2 If the faculty member supporting your proposal is someone other than your chair, a letter of support needs to be sent electronically (in PDF format) to your chair. Summary of Service Activities: List summary of service activities at the Department, School/College and University levels. Save for Later Save and Submit for Review If you decide to click Save for Later, you will need to log back in to the site using your NetID and password. If you click on Save and Submit for Review, the box below will appear: Please enter the name (last name, first name) of the next person in the review process (Chair or Dean/Director). If you don't know who your Chair is, please consult this list. (This takes you to the Department Chairs and Directors Toolkit.) Once you see the name of the person displayed in the drop down, click on it. You may add comments if you wish. Department Chair: (last name, first name) Take Action At This Time Submit to Next Step >> If you decide to click Take Action At This Time, you will need to log back in to the site using your NetID and password. If you click Submit to Next Step, the following page will appear: This proposal has been submitted for approval. The faculty member will receive an telling him/her that their proposal has been successfully submitted.

3 Approval/Review Process Current Proposal Status: PENDING REVIEW - Edit Proposal 1 Submitter/minee SUBMITTER 2 Department Chair CHAIR PENDING 3 Dean/Director PENDING The Chair will receive an saying that there is a Research Service Grant proposal waiting for his/her review. Click on the link to the website and log on with your NetID and password. After reviewing the proposal, if you re not ready to approve it, the status will remain Pending. You can come back to it later and proceed with approval using your NetID and password. If you want to approve the proposal, click on the box that states Click Here to Enter Your Decision. The following will appear. At this point you need to upload the letter of support that was previously ed to you by the individual supporting the proposal. Please enter the name (last name, first name) of the next person in the review process (Chair or Dean/Director). Once you see the name of the person displayed in the drop down, click on it. You may enter comments if you wish. Upload Letter of Support(PDF): Dean/Director: (last name, first name) << Return to Previous Step Take Action At This Time Submit to Next Step >> If you click Take Action At This Time, you can go back to it later. NOTE: If you choose to review the proposal later, you will need the link you received in the to access the website. If you click Submit to Next Step, it will send the proposal to the Academic Personnel Office, where it will be processed for the committee to review. The following page will appear: This proposal has been submitted for approval.

4 Approval/Review Process Current Proposal Status: PENDING REVIEW 1 Submitter/minee SUBMITTER 2 Department Chair CHAIR 3 Dean/Director DEAN/DIRECTOR PENDING The Dean/Director (or designee) will receive an message stating there is a proposal to be reviewed with a link to the website. After logging into the website using your NetID and password, review the proposal. There is a box at the bottom of the page that says Click Here to Enter Your Decision. If you want to approve the proposal, click on the box, and the following will appear: Upload Letter of Support (PDF): You are the final approval step. Click the "Submit to Next Step" button to submit this for final approval. Add comments if you wish. << Return to Previous Step Take Action At This Time Submit to Next Step >> If you click Take Action At This Time, you can go back to it later. Remember to LOG OUT at the top of the page. NOTE: If you choose to review the proposal later, you will need the link you received in the to access the website. If you click Submit to Next Step, it will send the proposal to the Academic Personnel Office, where it will be processed for the committee to review. You will see this message: This proposal has been submitted for final review! Approval/Review Process Current Proposal Status: REVIEW COMPLETE 1 Submitter/minee SUBMITTER 2 Department Chair CHAIR 3 Dean/Director DEAN/DIRECTOR

5 At this point, the process of submitting the proposal to Academic Personnel is complete. Remember to LOG OUT at the top of the page. The proposals can t be ranked within this online process. If your School/College submits more than one proposal, please send an message to Margy May with the rank of the proposals submitted by your School/College.
