1 Instruction on submitting an Outline Proposal to the NORFACE DIAL programme Last updated on 7 March 2016, version 1.1 Pease contact the ISAAC helpdesk for technical questions about the use of ISAAC ( telephone ). NORFACE NETWORK Outline Proposals to the NORFACE DIAL programme must be submitted by the Main Applicant via the online submission system ISAAC ( hosted by NWO (NORFACE Coordination Office). This is the only way to submit a NORFACE DIAL proposal; applications sent via other channels will not be eligible. The application must be uploaded as one PDF document and must be submitted before the deadline. Register in ISAAC To submit the Outline Proposal, the Main Applicant must register as a user with the system. To become familiar with the system, we recommend registering early. If you do not have an account in ISAAC yet, follow these steps to create one yourself. An account enables you to submit and monitor your application and manage your project if your application has been granted (projects). This process begins on ISAAC s login page Click on Create Account. The following screen will appear: 1

2 Enter the required information. The screen name is the name you use to log in to ISAAC. The e- mail address must be unique. Click on the Save button. Your account has been created: Your password is automatically generated and is sent to you by . Enter your Screen Name and Password Click on the Sign In button. For more information on changing data in your profile, please visit the ISAAC manual Preparing and submitting an application Your grant application has two parts: a fact sheet and the application form plus the allowed annexes (CVs) - You complete the fact sheet directly in NWO s electronic application system ISAAC. - The application form can be found on the NORFACE website As soon as you have completed these and added the CV s you can add this form to the ISAAC fact sheet as one PDF file. To start the application process, click on Applications in the menu bar. The Applications window will show you a list containing applications that have been previously created or submitted. 2

3 Click on New application. Select NORFACE Dynamics of Inequality Across the Life-course DIAL. Click on the available button to submit it digitally. You will see the following tabs: 3

4 Please add title, abstract and pre-application. You can also add here your research field and key words. Click on the Save button. Add the organisation of the main applicant under both items. Click on the Save button. If you click on the Add button to add your organisation, a list will appear in which you can identify your institution. If your institution is not included, you can request the creation of a new organisation by sending an to Central Relations Management Add all co-applicants. Please add full name, organisation and address of each co-applicant. Click on the Save button. 4

5 Once the pre-application has been filled in completely and truthfully, then the Outline Proposal can be submitted. Activate the checkbox and click on submit. Each new application can be changed or deleted by the applicant via ISAAC at any time as long as it has not been submitted to NWO. All of the data from the application are stored in a secure database and file system. The data cannot be viewed by NORFACE staff until after the application has been submitted. The fully-completed application can be submitted by the applicant. This means that the application is sent to NWO for processing. Submitted applications can no longer be changed. This ensures that the application submitted by you is the same as the copy held by NWO. The application can only be submitted once. All documents (application form & allowed annexes) must be included as one PDF attachment and sent in once. Confirmation of receipt After submission in ISAAC, the status of the application will have changed from Registered to Submitted.
