2 Celebrating the Excellence of America s Small Business The SCORE Awards is an annual event that celebrates the outstanding achievements of America s small businesses. Equal parts ceremony, celebration and entertainment, the SCORE Awards is the preeminent distinction in honoring and supporting small business in the U.S. At this event, we recognize the people and companies that have demonstrated unique vision, innovation and achievement in support of America s economy and small business community. The awards ceremony will take place in August Net revenues from the event support The SCORE Foundation and its programs, a 501(c) 3 non-profit. About SCORE and SCORE Foundation SCORE Mentors to America s Small Business is a non-profit association dedicated to the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. The SCORE Awards are hosted by the SCORE Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 organization that helps to advance and accelerate the mission of SCORE. SCORE is headquartered in Herndon, VA and has 350+ chapters throughout the United State and its territories, with over 12,500 volunteers nationwide. Both working and retired executives and business owners donate time and expertise as business mentors to help aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners achieve their goals. 8 SCORE Awards Frequently Asked Questions How can I nominate someone for a SCORE Award? Simply fill out and submit this nomination form by January 31, You may fax, or submit the form electronically. Who is eligible to submit an application? Nominations for the 2014 SCORE Awards may be submitted by any small business owner who has used SCORE services, any volunteer member of SCORE or any supporter of The SCORE Foundation. Self-nomination is encouraged. Businesses must be operational for greater than 12 months to qualify for an award category and all businesses nominated must be currently operational for consideration. What are the obligations of the nominee? All nominees must be available to attend the awards ceremony in August 2014 in Washington, DC. SCORE will provide all winners and their SCORE mentor with two (2) Gala Tickets and one (1) night Hotel Accommodations. All remaining travel expenses are the responsibility of the individual. Is there a cost to submit an entry? There is no cost associated with submitting an entry. What is the submission deadline? Selections are made based upon the comparison of data submitted against the description of each award. If, in the ruling of the review panel judges, no candidates or nominees meet the eligibility requirements or standards for a select award, an award may not be given. Only one award per year will be awarded in each category. Nominations of candidates not selected for the current year may resubmit in a subsequent year for consideration. Each final nominee selected in accordance with these procedures may be requested to provide additional information and must indicate a willingness to accept the award inperson at the August 2014 presentation ceremony in Washington, DC.
