Jamie is an Associate Director within the Project Management Division of Adams Consulting Group. Jamie has over 11 years experience working as a Project Manager in the construction industry and has successfully managed a wide variety of construction projects including office, health care, retail and education. Technical baseline studies and assessments Sgurr Energy Craig Morton MSc, Environmental Studies and BSc (Hons), Immunology Craig Morton is SgurrEnergy s Wind Feasibility Team Leader, with over seven years of experience in supporting wind energy projects from initial site screening studies through to planning success. During this time he has performed many pre-feasibility and feasibility studies and has provided guidance through development, EIA and planning for a number of renewable energy development projects, ranging from community projects to large industrial developments.
2 Landscape and Visual Impact Horner + Maclennan Keith Horner BA (Hons) Landscape Architecture, Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) (Design Division) Keith Horner has a wide range of landscape and visual impact assessment experience, having undertaken assessments of a series of projects including roads, infrastructure projects, renewable energy, new communities and settlement expansions. He has recently acted as a technical reviewer for the forthcoming 3rd Edition of 'Guidelines for Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment' on behalf of The Landscape Institute. He also acts as a Call Off Contractor for Scottish Natural Heritage, reviewing LVIAs on their behalf. Recently, he has undertaken a series of landscape capacity studies for small scale wind energy developments in Fife, Angus, Aberdeenshire and Argyll and Bute, using an appreciation of the landscape and visual character and sensitivity of these sites and their context to lead the design development process for these projects. Traffic, Access and Construction Fairhurst& Partners Donald Stirling MSc Transport Planning & Engineering, MA (Hons) Economics & Accounting Chartered Member Institute of Logistics and Transport, Member Institute of Highways and Transportation. Donald has seven years experience as a Transport Planning Consultant, having originally trained as a Chartered Accountant. As part of his broad experience in the provision of Transport Consultancy advice including Transport Assessments, Masterplanning, Public Transport provision and Travel Plans, he has provided Transport Assessments and Transport Statements in support of several Wind Farm and other major projects requiring the assessment of impacts of construction traffic and identification of appropriate routes for Abnormal Load movements. Hydrology, hydrogeology, hydromorphology, geology SOI Ltd Richard Bates Ruth Robinson PhD in applied Geophysics and Chartered Geologist (Geological Society of London. Richard has over 25yrs of experience in both academia and industry consulting in Environmental Geoscience With a PhD in Geoscience Ruth has been conducting research into fluvial systems, sediment transport, hydrology and water quality for 15 years, including projects focussed on the aquatic export of carbon and other nutrients from catchments undergoing land-use change.
3 Noise SgurrEnergy Eric Donelly BEng and Corporate Membership of the UK Institute of Acoustics. Eric is the team leader of SgurrEnergy s Noise & Vibration team specialising in noise impact assessments for industrial projects including existing and proposed wind farms, electrical substations and other electrical infrastructure. Since joining SgurrEnergy, Eric has been involved in over 100 wind farm projects including the largest onshore developments in Europe. Eric joined SgurrEnergy as the Noise and Vibration Team Leader in 2003, following five years as a Noise and Vibration Consultant and Team Leader in Scottish Power s Technology Division SOI Ltd Dr Emma Defew With a PhD from St Andrews University and a BSc from Hull University, Dr Emma Defew has over 10 years experience of pure research, environmental survey work, consultancy projects and project management. Dr Defew ensures that the practical challenge of measuring, analysing and evaluating dynamic environmental data for environmental problem-solving and management purposes is based on asking the right questions, collecting the correct data, analysing it in an appropriate way and evaluating it in an applied context. Projects mainly span a range of aquatic systems including rivers, lakes, estuaries, coastal dunes, marine and intertidal areas, but Dr Defew has also worked on a number of terrestrial based projects. Ecology, ornithology and bats Eden Ecology Les Hatton Les has spent over 20 years in professional land management particularly the management of geese and SPA populations. Since 2006 Les has run his own survey company and has undertaken wind farm work all over Scotland as well as Turkey, Jordan, Bulgaria and Romania. Les holds a ringing licence with endorsements for training and cannon netting wildfowl; having been responsible for much of the colour marking of geese in Scotland. Les also has a bat licence that includes research and training.
4 SOI Ltd Tom Dawson BA (Hons), FSA (Scot);Commissioner (Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland) and Member of Council (Society of Antiquaries of Scotland). Tom has over 30 years experience directing fieldwork projects and undertaking Desk Based Assessments. Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Joanna Hambly MSc Quaternary Science, BA (Hons) Archaeology and Research fellow (archaeology) School of History St Andrews Joanna has 20 years experience in commercial archaeology and heritage management. Joanna also has 8 years experience as a Local Authority planning archaeological consultant (in the East Midlands). Aviation and defence BAE Systems Nigel Pierce Nigel is the Managing Consultant leading the Wind Farms Team at BAE Systems Integrated Systems Technologies. Nigel and his team offer a complete through-life capability from pre-planning assessments, comprehensive impact analysis, the development of mitigation solutions through to their implementation. Nigel is able to draw upon a vast pool of expertise from across BAE Systems to deliver this service, including the CAA/ MoD approved BAE Systems Air Traffic Control Training College. Telecommunications, electromagnetic and Television Reception Pager Power, Spaven Consulting Kai Frolic Master in Physics (Mphys) 1st Class Honours Kai is a technical Analyst with Pager Power and is responsible for technical report writing and client management. Kai has managed projects at all stages and provided technical advice in connection with a telemetry link affected by the proposed wind farm development. Spaven Consulting Malcolm Spaven Malcolm holds an M.A. (Honours) degree and an M.Sc in Rural and Regional Resources Planning from the University of Aberdeen. Malcolm is the principal of Spaven Consulting. Spaven Consulting specialises in assessing, and developing solutions to mitigate the impact of aviation on the environment and the impact of planning developments on aviation. Malcolm carried out the TV reception Assessment for the proposed wind farm development.
5 Economy and Tourism Biggar Economics Graeme Blackett BA (Hons) Economics, University of Strathclyde, Member of the Institute for Economic Development and Member of the Economic Development Association Scotland. Graeme is an economist with 20 years experience in economic development consulting with significant experience of undertaking economic impact assessments of major economic development projects. BiGGAR Economics has undertaken tourism and economic impact assessments of more than 20 wind farm developments across the UK and Graeme Blackett, Managing Director of the company has provided expert evidence at a number of wind farm inquiries. BiGGAR Economics are also familiar with the economy of Fife including both the tourism economy (having recently undertaken an economic impact assessment of the University of St Andrews, an important contributor to tourism activity as well as higher education) and the potential of the renewable energy sector (having recently completed a study on the future skills needs of the renewable energy sector for Fife Council). Shadow Flicker Sgurr Energy Craig Morton MSc, Environmental Studies, University of Strathclyde, BSc (Hons), Immunology, University of Strathclyde Grid Connection University of St Andrews Dr Roddy Yarr Craig Morton is SgurrEnergy s Wind Feasibility Team Leader. Craig has over seven years of experience in supporting wind energy projects from initial site screening studies through to planning success. Craig has extensive experience of undertaking shadow flicker impact assessments as part of the feasibility and EIA processes. PhD, MEnvS, BSc (Hons) Geology, MIEMA and CEnv (Full Member of Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment and Chartered Environmentalist). Consultation between the University of St Andrews and Scottish Power commenced regarding the potential 4.5km route for the grid connection. As Distribution Network Operator, Scottish Power is responsible for the electricity network in the area and provided guidance and direction on the design and type of connection infrastructure.
