The operator almost doubled its customer base to more than 38 Million subscribers in the course of one single year (Sept Sept ). This amazing growth implies that Vimpelcom s CDR processing environment constantly changes. Vimpelcom was looking for a reliable solution to reach a higher level of automation of its testing processes. They wanted to use the same testing methodology for all their different types of switches to have a more transparent system to work with. The main reason for selecting CeDaR was to meet the high demand for testing generated for this rapid growth and to rework the testing procedure. At the same time Vimpelcom took advantage of several other key functionalities of CeDaR. Legal requirements met proven billing accuracy at T-Com, Hungary Telecom operators have to be prepared to meet strict legal requirements and both owner and subscriber expectations to prove that their billing processes work correctly and their subscribers are billed accurately. 4 Fraud Bite the Bullet on NRTRDE RealXS the Solution to NRTRDE The new GSMA standard the Near Real-Time Data Exchange (NRTRDE) has significantly changed the roaming fraud detection procedures. One of the greatest advantages of NRTRDE is the reciprocity. By sending NRTRDE files in time the responsibility and inevitable the risk is on HPMN for fraud detection. The NRTRDE files contain raw data without any preevaluation and the whole process is very fast due to its near-real time character - this makes vital to review or, if necessary, build up fraud detection procedures on receiver side. Scenario#1: there is no fraud management system in place or cannot enable the existing one to handle NRTRDE Evaluating the data sent by the NRTRDE partners and monitoring roaming fraud is a must otherwise you risk that your network will be targeted by fraudsters and became a risk-taker. Since roaming fraud means a serious problem for mobile operators the GSM Association has decided the mandatory implementation of a new standard to combat it the Near Real Time Data Exchange (NRTRDE). All GSMA members should have in place a solution for NRTRDE by 1 October The measure seems to be welcome by operators indicating a strong business need. Although introducing NRTRDE systems brings many benefits it also means the biggest change since the TAP3 has been introduced. NRTRDE provides a new method for reporting the customers activities in the visited networks. It enables the home network usage and other fraud issues in nearreal time by sending limited, but enough information for fraud analysis while reducing the delay to less than 4 hours. Purchasing a new FMS or replacing the existing one is not justified by the NRTRDE implementation. Choosing a light-weight roaming fraud detection system which focuses squarely on roaming fraud is the optimal solution. Scenario#2: There is already in place a fraud management system In this case the best choice is an integrated solution operators should enable their FMS to handle NRTRDE. If it is feasible within the given deadline, go ahead!
