3 Hello, Internet in Turkey have completed 21st year by 12th April this year. So, 7-20th of April is celebrated as internet week like a festival in Turkey. In the context of this celebrations, the concepts as information society, e-turkey project, e-government, etc. will be talked about and by this way, these terms will be introduced to the society.

6 Number of subscribers of broadband internet in Turkey Genişbant internet abone sayısı In five years, number of subscribers of broadband internet has increased at about 4,5 times.
7 Total number of internet subscribers in terms of connection types The yearly growth rate of total internet subscribers is 18% from 2012 to The number of fiber internet subscribers has increased 85% from 2012/4 to 2013/4. The yearly increase rate of mobile internet subscribers by phone is 24,5%.
8 Market shares of internet service providers in 2013/4 In Turkey, TTNet has the biggest market share by 80%. The following is Superonline by 11,3% market share.
9 Annually incomes of internet service providers (TL) Total annually incomes of ISP s has become 4,2 billion TL (1,43 billion ) in 2013 with a yearly 2,7% decline. (yesterday 1 = 2,934 TL)
10 Fixed broadband internet penetration rates in OECD Countries by June 2013 With 8,7% DSL, 0,6% Cable and 1,6% Fiber, penetration rates in Turkey is lower than mean of OECD where the penetration rate of DSL is 14,1%, Cable is 8,3% and fiber is 4,2%.
11 Mobile internet usage with mobile computers and mobile phones The 3G technologies has begun to use in Turkey in july Since then, mobile internet usage has increased rapidly in Turkey. There has been an increase of 6% in mobile internet usage in the last quarter of 2013 for the previous period. The number of mobile internet users has reached by the end of The amount of mobile internet using has increased 6% by the last period and reached Tbyte.
12 Total fixed broadband internet usage The amount of total fixed broadband internet usage (cable included) has become Tbyte by the end of 2013 in Turkey. The 89% of this amount has occured as data downloading. The 11 of the transfer has occured as data uploading.
13 Investment in 2013 Lutfi Elvan, The Minister of transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications, has announced that 5,4 billion TL was invested to communication infrastructure in 2013 by Turk Telekom, mobile and the other operators.
14 The length of fiber optic cable Broadband internet infrastructure is growing rapidly day by day. By the end of 2013, there exists approximately 228 thousand km of fiber optic cable in Turkey, which is four times longer than roads/highways.
15 The distribution of fixed broadbant internet subscribers by connection speeds in 2013/4. biggest part (68,9%) of subscribers are connecting to the net by 4-8 M 18,3% of subscribers are using Mbps.
16 The distribution of fixed broadband internet subscribers by technology and service provider The rate of xdsl (ADSL, G.SHDSL, VDSL) users has decreased from 92,6% in 2011/1 to 79,2% in 2013/4. But, the rate of fiber internet users has been increasing rapidly (from 2,3% in 2011/1 to 14,2% in 2013/4).
17 The distribution of internet subscribers with mobile computers by usage Mobil bilgisayardan internet abonelerinin kullanıma göre dağılımı 81,11% of internet subscribers with mobile computers are using above 100 Mb. About 55% of subscribers are using above 1 GB. The rate of subscribers using below 50 Mb is 6%.
18 The distribution of internet subscribers with mobile phones by usage Mobil cepten internet abonelerinin kullanıma göre dağılımı The biggest part (37,1%) of subscribers with mobile phones are using 0-5 Mb. Approximately 85% of them are using below 1 GB.
19 The penetration of fixed-mobile broadband internet in OECD Countries While fixed broadband internet penetration rate by population in Turkey is 11,9%, the average of OECD is 26,7%. As for mobile internet penetration rate, while it is 13,7% in Turkey, the average of OECD is 68,4%. In other words, the penetration rates of broadband internet in Turkey is lower than average of OECD.
