2 College of Business The College of Business programs are designed to challenge students minds and help them explore new horizons and maximize their potential as responsible citizens. By joining the College of Business, you can participate in numerous activities including the Business Terms Quiz Competition, Good Practice Forum and Effat Business Students Association in addition to the Student Affairs annual events. The student who maintains healthy GPA can compete for the Queen Effat Citizenship Award and Dean s List. The Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship is designed to train students and to gain necessary knowledge, acquire skills and capabilities to exploit new ideas, innovations and launch new ventures. The program responds to the needs of individuals desiring to create, lead and manage small and medium business or enterprises as well as business units in large corporations. Entrepreneurship goes beyond the simple study of courses such as project management, feasibility project analysis, etc. The program provides an in-depth study of the major concepts and tools in the theory and application of Entrepreneurship. Students will acquire knowledge and skills covering a range of strategic aspects of Entrepreneurship including opportunity recognition, launching new ventures, determining market feasibility, financing for business ventures, managing new ideas in big corporations, dealing with social entrepreneurship, technological entrepreneurship and some other related issues. An emphasis will be placed on issues unique to the Middle East. As well, the impact of globalization and information technology on business and entrepreneurship field will be addressed.

4 How will you learn? The mission of the Entrepreneurship Program is to attain academic excellence at the same time actualizing the outcomes of diversity in research, teaching, and service. We place special emphasis on diversity, to keep pace with a rapidly evolving multi-cultural society as well as to accord with university and campus goals. We aim to be customer-oriented, aiming at instruction with delight by delivering high-quality and stimulating courses as well as by treating our diverse students in a respectful and caring manner. We encourage the development of a broad array of new courses relevant to the changing society and updating basic courses on an annual basis along with best designs and outcomes.
5 What will you learn? Effat University aims to set standards of excellence in Entrepreneurship and has created a curriculum to meet the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment s standards. Preparatory Program As the University s admission requires a healthy TOEFL score, therefore, a preparatory program is devised for the students who need assistance with English language and other areas. Student will gain study skills, a broad base of knowledge and become comfortable studying in English. You will become familiar with Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) an integral part of teaching and learning English. Once the preparatory period is over, you will begin your degree in earnest, completing courses from the remaining four study areas. General Education The general education program provides learners with skills for success in a variety of disciplines. Courses focus on specific areas: Written and Oral Communication; Technology Literacy; Mathematical, Scientific and Logical Reasoning; Interdisciplinary Studies; Research, Religion, Culture and Ethics; Careers and Professions; and Awareness of Physical Wellbeing. In all 19 courses are taken bearing 1 to 3 credits each. Core Courses Core courses are taken from numerous fields in business in order to ensure maximum exposure to a diverse range of subjects and broaden horizons of the students. The students complete 16 courses of 3 credits each.
6 Major Electives All the students pursuing this degree are required to complete four essential courses and then select another two from a list of electives to fulfill the degree requirements. Business Electives All students need to take 3 courses of 3 credit hours each from a list of business courses. Free Electives The free electives can be chosen from other majors and the number of courses could be between and 3 depending upon the credit hours of the courses chosen. Internship The internship is integral part of the degree irrespective of concentration this element of your study will put knowledge into practice, building your vocational skills. Once you complete 90 credits, you can choose a real organization to get involved in its activities for a limited time. Your Internship should be supervised by a faculty. Dissertation/Thesis All students must undertake research project to earn 3 credits. The research will be conducted under the supervision of an allotted supervisor. It is carried out in the last semester of the degree program.
7 Objectives we focus on include: Knowledge: Students should be able to: Demonstrate knowledge of the functional areas of entrepreneurship, current research and innovations, future trends, and the impact of these developments on theory and practice. Demonstrate understanding of the domestic, regional and global economic environments of organizations. Demonstrate knowledge of financial theories, analysis, and reporting. Acquire a strong foundation in how to start a business and be armed for future careers or graduate studies in entrepreneurship or related fields. Explain the concepts, models, frameworks, and tools for understanding entrepreneurship in particular and business in general. Explain how to prepare a business plan and implement it in reality. Cognitive Skills: Student should be able to: Think critically and apply theoretical knowledge and practical experience to identification and analysis of business problems. Critically analyze and assess identified entrepreneurial opportunities. Think strategically about appropriate courses of action for capturing, sustaining and maintaining entrepreneurial ventures. Interpersonal Skills and Responsibility: Students should be able to: Demonstrate understanding of individual and group dynamics in organizations. Function effectively in teams. Deal effectively with people from diverse social, economic, cultural and religious backgrounds. Demonstrate understanding and sensitivity of ethical, social, and legal responsibilities of business organizations. Demonstrate understanding and sensitivity of environmental issues in the world of entrepreneurship. Communication, information Technology and Numerical Skills: Students should be able to: Demonstrate understanding of various managerial decision-making tools. Communicate business ideas effectively both orally and in writing. Effectively utilize analytical and information systems and technologies properly in communicating business ideas. Demonstrate statistical analysis skills to enable them to make sense of quantitative information used in entrepreneurial decision making.

Though we welcome students from a diverse range of backgrounds, we will look for the following qualifications (or equivalent): A high school certificate Good oral and written English skills As our classes are conducted in English, you will need a minimum of 50 IPT points or 68 IBT points and a TWE of 5 for an unconditional offer or to complete a proficiency test. What will you need to graduate? A grade point average of.00 or higher. The Entrepreneurship Program graduates are prepared to hold, but are not limited to, the following job titles: Business Entrepreneurs; Social Entrepreneurs; Entrepreneurs/Corporate Entrepreneurs; Self-employed business women; Small/Medium Business Managers; Managers of Change and Development; Business Awareness Training Centre owners; Enterprise Team Leaders.
