5 University Requirements 12 units per quarter Required for financial aid & to live in Student Housing New students complete units 13 units per quarter (average) 39 units per year or subject to academic disqualification 15 units per quarter 45 units per year for 4 years = 180 graduation units For each hour in class per week, expect 2-3 hours outside of class

15 What is a Bachelor of Arts? Science? Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) degree Smaller amount of units towards major; more electives. A.B. degrees are offered in the following majors: Biological Sciences Evolution, Ecology and Biodiversity Microbiology and Plant Biology In CBS, some A.B. majors do not require calculus courses; Microbiology is the exception. Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree Larger amount of units towards major, generally in science or lab courses; fewer electives generally. B.S. degrees are offered for all CBS majors.

19 Commonalities of CBS Majors Similar Core All of our majors require calculus, general and organic chemistry, biology and physics. These will be your first priority and are considered preparatory. All our majors require upper-division genetics, biochemistry and cell biology that may be satisfied via two course paths. Your path choice is dependent on your major.
