Create and implement inventive PowerPoint presentations to aid students comprehension. Present student development workshops on various topics, including learning strategies and critical thinking. Adjunct Professor, Lone Star College 2012-present Cypress Center and Fairbanks Campus Instruction of HUMD 0330 and EDUC 1300 designed to enrich First Year College Experience of community college students. NON-TEACHING EXPERIENCE: Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View, TX Professional Advisor, University College Provide holistic, intrusive advisement for first time, full time freshmen with an emphasis on the 102 students in the advisor's assigned building. Advise students based on their major and academic backgrounds. Instruct the students in the requirements of their selected majors and classes and the use of the degree plan and other advisement tools (i.e. course descriptions) to select courses. Assist students to change or select majors/minors as required. This includes the use of such instruments as the Discover, Holland Self-Directed Search and various career assessment tools. Participate in recruitment and orientation activities. This includes participation in the Orientation dates. Call all who register for Orientation days and fill out the appropriate pre-work sheet. Insure the students are listed in the correct major and verify their TSI status. When required, register the student by phone. Provide advisement and registration during the Orientation days. As required participate in recruitment activities such as Panther Land Day, the Major's Fair, Sneak Preview, school visits and career days. Work with the residential staff to plan co-curricular activities in the residential halls in such areas as major selection, career choices, relationships, leadership, social/cultural development, current events, etc. Plan special activities to honor academic success of students, holidays, homecoming, etc. Plan the UC Honors Banquet, Black History Talent Show and other similar activities. Provide leadership for activities such as Women's Empowerment and the Men's Council. Serve as the point of referral for support services for students. Maintain an updated knowledge of support resources both on and off campus. Work with the Freshman Support Services Coordinator to assist students in filling out appropriate financial aid paperwork and monitor student's award status. Assist the Coordinator in communicating housing information to students. Proactively seek assistance for students' needs in all areas. Performs other duties as assigned.

3 Mental health Technician/Patient Care Specialist I Cadwalder Behavioral Clinic, Tomball TX Duties consisted of, but not limited to providing spiritual and psychological counseling, monitoring and assisting patients with depression, drug and alcohol use, grief and loss, anger management, healthy coping skills, anxiety, stress management, relationship issues, chronic illness, eating disorders, family issues, goal setting and life skills. Assisted in Equine Integrated Behavioral Therapy sessions. Monitor distribution and consumption of medications. Staff members are also continuingly cognizant of patient safety and needs at all times. Provide extensive documentation of mental health/partial hospitalization patients. Light clerical duties and housekeeping to maintain facility. Mental health Technician/Patient Care Specialist II 2007 Cadwalder Behavioral Clinic, Tomball TX Helping individuals deal with addictions and substance abuse; family, parenting, and marital problems; suicide; stress management; problems with self-esteem; and issues associated with aging and mental and emotional health. Planning, organizing and leading structured programs of counseling, work, study, recreation and social activities for clients. Provide counseling on education and solved mediation problems that includes trauma, addictions, mood disorders, domestic violence and related to mental health issues. INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE: Educational Counselor II, Masters Intern Krause Children Treatment Center, Katy TX Responsibilities consist of but are not limited to enforcing a multidisciplinary team approach that evaluates and addresses the social, physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs of children. Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of records relating to client treatment. Encouraging clients to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives, and help them develop insight into themselves and their relationships. Guiding clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems. Preparing and maintaining all required treatment records and reports. Counseling clients and patients, individually and in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes. Residents have a variation of DSM IV diagnosis, history of self-abuse, running away, physical aggression, poor social skills, property destruction, defiance of authority, and drug experimentation. Provide extensive documentation on a daily basis every five to fifteen minutes. Counselor, Doctoral Counseling Intern Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View TX Duties required Providing individual, group and couples counseling. Counselor also required to collect information about clients through interviews, observation, and various tests. Acted as client advocate in order to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations. Evaluated clients' physical or mental condition based on review of client information. Referring patients, clients, or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary. Evaluating the effectiveness of counseling programs and clients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving toward defined objectives.
