1 IBM Podcast [ MUSIC ] Hello, and welcome to today's podcast featuring IBM WebSphere Cast Iron business partner NetSuite. My name is Jeff Miller, and I'm responsible for WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud Integration strategic partners, and joining me today is Paul Turner, Senior Director Product Marketing from NetSuite. In the next few minutes Paul and I will be discussing an overview of NetSuite, their application integration needs and the benefits of WebSphere Cast Iron to NetSuite's customers. Paul, thank you for taking the time to join me today. TURNER: It's great to be here. Paul, why don't you start by telling us a little bit about NetSuite. TURNER: I'll give you a little bit of background on NetSuite. NetSuite is the world's number one provider of cloud ERP software. We're run by over 10,000 companies and subsidiaries across over 100 countries. -1-
2 NetSuite is public. We trade on the NYSE on the N ticker, and we were founded in 1998 by Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle, and Evan Goldberg, our current CTO. Some of the world's best known brands run NetSuite, including Olympus, Groupon, Computer Associates and many more. And we are ranked by Gartner as the fastest-growing top 10 financial management systems in North America, and actually as well as in the U.K. and Australia. We, let's look back on our solution. We provide financials, ERP, CRM as well as e-commerce in a modular native cloud suite, as well as we provide a one of a kind NetSuite One World solution that provides complete cloud multi subsidiary management for global businesses. Also, about our suite cloud platform, that enables our partners and customers to customize and extend NetSuite with confidence. And also they can customize it, but also get the benefits to automated upgrades and customizations that carry forward automatically. To give you the benefits of NetSuite, with our NetSuite of businesses they're typically able to shrink the IT spend associated with the IP by 50 percent or more, cut their financial close times by around near 20 to 50 percent. Also cut their whole order to cash cycle. -2-
3 And the implementation, they got to implement with as little as 10 percent implementation effort associated compared to traditional on-premise solutions like Oracle and SAP. So, basically rapid deployment, able to cut costs like IT costs dramatically, accelerate financial close times, among a number of other benefits. We're growing very quickly, because we enable medium-sized businesses and the Global 2,000 to deploy at a fraction of time and costs on-premise incentives. NetSuite is also within enterprises. We're often deployed within subsidiaries of global enterprises and we're often the cloud ERP solution of choice for activities like M&As or divestitures. For example, [INAUDIBLE] Spandex America, they're a division of a multi-billion dollar Japanese conglomerate. They switched from spending three percent of their revenue running maintaining Apache SAP within a division. They switched to NetSuite and now they're spending just.1 percent of their revenue with NetSuite. So basically millions of dollars of savings. Wow, very impressive. Paul, why don't you tell us about the application integration challenge for NetSuite? TURNER: Yes, because NetSuite is increasingly being -3-
4 deployed by the Global 2,000, our solutions are increasingly integrated with existing systems, whether they're corporate ERP systems or they're existing CRMs or e-commerce systems. Many of our customers are integrating NetSuite with existing cloud systems, also integrating with other on-premise systems and also even integrating beyond the business as well -- so integrating with upstream suppliers and vendors or maybe with other selling channels. These integrations can either be in batch -- for example, such as exploiting financials in similar systems -- or in real time such as routing orders in or out of NetSuite. Let me give you a few scenarios. One example, one major trend right now in cloud ERP, is the tiered deployment strategy. In a nutshell, two-tiered ERP means you're basically running a standard price running one ERP system for corporate, such as they're running their traditional SAP or their traditional Oracle deployment. And then what they do is then standardizing their subsidiaries or divisions on cloud ERP, it's much more easy to deploy, customize and maintain. The reason behind the strategy is that often on-premise ERP deployments are simply not practical to extend from corporate to divisions and subs. They're often too costly, too lengthy to implement and too inflexible, and often turn -4-
5 into multi-year projects. So we have a number of customers that are implementing...they've implemented two-tier cloud ERP such as Olympus, as well as Jolly B News Corporation, a major Philippine food retailer. So it enables them to basically streamline their ERP as well as improve their visibility into their serious performance. What they're doing they're running NetSuite cloud in a division and running SAP or Oracle at corporate. In this scenario, integration is a consideration, right? So they're...it's about ensuring the financials from the divisional cloud ERP deployment are integrated with the corporate parent and also any necessary master data is also kept in synch. Another scenario is because NetSuite is modular, our customers can deploy our ERP CRM or e-commerce standalone and then also integrate it with existing other financial sales or Web system, where those existing systems must be cloud or on-premise systems. An example of that, Solar Wind, they're a public software company. They are leveraging NetSuite One World with their existing salesforce.com deployment. So as part of their order to cash flow, they're integrating the flow of orders -5-
6 coming in from salesforce, integrating into NetSuite One World into their system of record, and also ensuring some of the product information is kept in synch between the two systems. A final example, we also have customers that have deployed our e-commerce solutions such as for Web site management, as well as shopping cart and those kind of areas. So what they're doing there is they're running NetSuite e-commerce and then they're basically integrating NetSuite with their existing ERP systems -- they're routing orders in real time from the Web, managing all the payments and then routing it from NetSuite into their existing financials and performance systems. So kind of net-net, there's a number of different integration scenarios, whether it's kind of two-tier deployment, running NetSuite in the division or sub, integrating with corporate, whether they're integrating NetSuite with their existing CRM system or even vice versa, integrating NetSuite's CRM with an existing financial system or integrating the suite with...integrating NetSuite's e-commerce with an existing ERP system. Many different integration scenarios. Great. So integration is definitely important. What are the benefits that you see with Cast Iron for -6-
7 NetSuite's customers? TURNER: That's a great question. First of all, NetSuite is...we're committed to our suite cloud partners. We have a large suite cloud partner ecosystem. And one of the key benefits for our customers is they get a choice of solutions that integrate with NetSuite. So as part of that actually, we provide an online marketplace so that you can go to where as a customer you can kind of search for complementary solutions. So you can go to that site, type in Cast Iron and learn more about the benefits and features of how Cast Iron integrates with our NetSuite. In terms of benefits, because like NetSuite Cast Iron is a cloud solution, a key benefit is fast time to deployment. So NetSuite integration projects with Cast Iron could take place in days. There's no software to install or manage, so you can run basically on your ERP and CRM with NetSuite and the cloud and all of your integration can also be managed in the cloud through Cast Iron. Another benefit of Cast Iron is really ease of use for integration. So Cast Iron, because they're best of breed integration solution, provides graphical configuration, not encoding. So you can create graphical mappings between systems. -7-
8 And that makes it much more easier to create mappings, whether you're, for example, mapping NetSuite into a corporate Oracle or SAP deployment or you're mapping NetSuite into a CRM deployment, for example. It makes it much easier to construct those mappings and also makes them much more kind of maintainable long term as the business changes, as your integration needs change. Another aspect is kind of speed and speed of integration; I kind of touched on that a little bit earlier. But one of the other key benefits of Cast Iron is that Cast Iron provides on demand library of prebuilt templates. I believe they're called TIPS -- Template Integration Processes. So, kind of common integration scenarios where all of the cash flow, another kind of business process. And so, kind of prebuilt library without accelerating integration projects with best practices, as well as obviously key, when you're integrating with kind of sophisticated ERP systems or CRM systems, it really helps to have kind of prebuilt connectors and prebuilt integrations on standard business layer of those systems. So Cast Iron provides those prebuilt connectors just as they provide a prebuilt connector to NetSuite. So it really helps speed the integration process, and it also means that IT doesn't have to naturally spend an immense amount of time -8-
9 and resources understanding the underlying details of the systems they are integrating with. Now, in terms of the combination, it's really the combination of the prebuilt connectors, common integration scenarios, graphical integration. It makes it much easier for medium-sized businesses or maybe subsidiaries or divisions within broader enterprises to really meet the ad hoc business integration requirements and make sure those kind of requirements are easy to create as well as easy to maintain down the road.
