1 PARENT UPDATE NOVEMBER 13, 2014 During the month of November, please remember all those who have died and all the saints among us today and with Christ in heaven. Thank you to the families who have already registered! After Thanksgiving the registration fee will be $100 so take advantage of the savings now. MPRCS MISSION STATEMENT Recently you were ed a survey that we are using to re-evaluate or re-affirm our school s Mission Statement. Please complete the survey if you have not done so. Your responses are invaluable and are a huge help as we work with the Healey Education Foundation to further the school s mission. FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT AWARDS FOR OCTOBER Joy by the Spirit is present in all circumstances. According to Dietrich Bonhoeffer, If you do a good job for others, you heal yourself at the same time, because a dose of joy is a spiritual cure. Please tell your friends about our school and let them know they are welcome to come to this event. A few Open House lawn signs are still available at school. Please consider placing one in your yard if you are in a high traffic area. They can be picked up in the main office. Please spread the word about our Open House. Share the website link on Facebook & Twitter with your friends! MARKET DAY REMINDER Market Day orders are due tomorrow, Friday, November 14 th. Don t forget to order your pies and treats for Thanksgiving!

2 PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER - MONDAY A professional photographer will be in school this coming Monday, November 17 th, to take pictures that we will be using in our print and web marketing. Please make sure you send your children in full winter uniforms for that day. All children may have the opportunity to be in these pictures. In addition, we are asking if you could send in the following with your children where applicable: Band students bring in your band instruments Violin students bring in your violins 3 rd graders bring in your recorders All students please have your ipads & winter uniforms CONGRATULATIONS SOCCER CHAMPIONS Congratulations to the members of the 7-8th grade St. John s CYO soccer team, who are the PhilaDelco CYO League Champions. The soccer team defeated St. Mary Magdalene by a score of 5-2 for the championship last weekend, playing under the lights at Bonner HS. To get to the championship game, SJC beat St. Bernadette s on Saturday by a score of 1-0. MPRCS students on the team are: Maisie Grogan, Gabe Margolis, Gabby McGinn, Erin O Brien, Grace Raup and Ricky Raup. We are very proud of our athletes! CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR BAND MEMBERS Congratulations to Andrea Wat and Angela Campanella for being chosen to participate in the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Band Festival and Honor Band. This is quite an accomplishment! DECEMBER LUNCH ORDERS Please use the attached paper form to order lunches for December. Orders must be received by next week, November 21 st. We are sorry for the inconvenience in ordering lunches and hope to have our online ordering up in My Students Progress by the end of the trimester. We also plan to be sending login information to parents after the first trimester, after Thanksgiving. FAMILY FESTIVAL AT NEUMANN UNIV. MPRCS is participating in a School and Family Festival at Neumann University on November 13 from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Come visit us and enjoy the activities! CHRISTMAS READING NIGHT Thursday, December 11 th, 3:00pm to 5:30pm Moms and Dads take the day off and take advantage of a great opportunity to get an early start on your Christmas Shopping while your children are entertained by the Mother of Providence faculty. See the attached flyers to register your Kindergartener through 3 rd grader. Middle School Students may sign up to help out as well using the attached form. Forms must be in by November 21 st so we can have an accurate count for the evening. MPRCS STUDENT COUNCIL FOOD DRIVE What so ever you do for the least of my brothers Matthew 25:35. The MPRCS Student Council is sponsoring a Food Drive of non-perishable food donations for St. Gabriel s Church in South Philadelphia. Please see the attached flyer or visit the school website for a list of items to donate for your child s grade. Donations must be received at school by November 21 st. GRANDPARENTS/VIP DAY AT MPRCS Tuesday, November 25 is Grandparents/VIP Day at MPRCS. Visitors will be invited to join us for a pizza lunch and entertainment. Please see the attached flyer to register or you can register online on our website. DRAMA CLUB Please see the website for important Call Back information and music for call backs. FIRST IN MATH CHALLENGE MPRCS is already a very strong competitor in the National Rankings for First in Math! See the attached flyer for even more incentive to play First in Math online. We are trying to earn ONE MILLION STICKERS in First in Math!

3 MOM S NIGHT OUT Mom s Night out is tonight, November 13 th, starting at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $5 at the door. Light refreshments and beverages will be served. There will be over 25 vendors participating so plan on coming! BIRTHDAYS AT MPRCS At morning prayer, we celebrate the birthdays of the children at MPRCS. Please know that the parents and guardians are welcome to join us on the day of your child s birthday to hear the birthday blessing that each child receives. For weekend birthdays, we celebrate on Friday.
