DiscoveryGarden uses a variety of best-practice Open Source technologies to create customized Data Asset Management systems for an impressive A-List of clients in the Cultural, Academic and Research communities. While DGI s work is centered on the Islandora Open Source Framework, the company also provides numerous services and tools to assist organizations in the mapping, storing, retrieval, stewardship and preservation of their digital assets. Software Developer We are looking for a talented and broadly skilled engineer for a flexible and wide-ranging role. You ll be doing development work on complex web based open source data management systems that allow users to easily store their data, find it with advanced search options, export in multiple formats, and preserve for all time. You like new tech. Here, you ll get a chance to play with it, evaluate it and see what s most appropriate for solving real-world problems. You like open source. You ve probably got a project or two of your own. With us, you ll get the chance to contribute some of your work back to the community. We use an agile development approach based on scrum to make sure our development team is happy and has everything they need to meet client requirements. NO OF VACANCIES: 2 Project Manager We are seeking an exceptional project manager for a flexible, fast-paced role. You will lead projects from the scoping phase through to development and testing to sign off and transition into support and maintenance. You are the primary contact on all matters related to your projects; through interaction with the client lead to the technical unit and systems and support. Your job is to deliver a high quality product on time and within budget while achieving client satisfaction. Duties Lead the scoping of a project to clearly identify the requirements, align those requirements with the client s expectations, and develop a project plan that includes deliverables, timelines, and milestones. Work with the client to create user stories and test cases. Work with the Program Manager and the client to ensure your project s tasks are clearly articulated to the development unit and to the client s satisfaction. Oversee the creation of wireframes in collaboration with the theming and design unit. Ensure your project receives proper attention and hits milestones through an agile development process. Ensure the project remains within scope and identify/execute any change orders that are needed to meet shifting requirements. Review and test the product as features become available, and/or ensure the testing unit reviews the product/feature prior to being

3 released to the client for acceptance review. A Bachelor s or Master s degree in Business Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline with IT focus. 2 plus years experience managing software projects. Great oral and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Passion for technology; particularly open source. 5 NO OF VACANCIES: 1 Engineer In Test We are looking for a talented engineer to play an integral role in ensuring the quality and reliability of DGI s software through test automation. You ll work within our agile development team building out our automated test and continuous integration framework. You like new tech. You like to make sure things run smoothly. Here, you ll get a chance to contribute to a young startup company by taking ownership of our overall testing and continuous integration strategy. This position has the ability to make a huge difference in how we develop our software. You will work embedded in our development team and fully engaged as an equal in the daily design and planning activities for our products. Sometimes you ll take on the role of a developer and other times you ll have to recruit the development team to help you. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Willingness to mentor other members of the team in test driven development A background in UNIX and a love of the command-line Familiar with agile/scrum methodology Knowledge of version control such as Github, Mercurial, etc. Familiar with Continuous Integration tools (Jenkins, Sismo, Buildbot, etc) Familiar with Testing tools (PHPUnit, Simpletest, Selenium, etc.) Proficiency with languages such as PHP/Python/Java/Ruby Web development experience in a Drupal or PHP environment Expertise in maintaining code through a source control tool and defects through a defect-tracking tool. NO OF VACANCIES: 1 Data Modeler The successful candidate will have experience in creating logical and physical data model structures and have a strong understanding of data standards. Duties Work with project managers, technical leads, and data managers, both internally and externally, to define appropriate data model elements and relationships for structured and unstructured data Assist project managers and technical resources in the scoping and project planning stages by reviewing and analyzing a customer's data models and digital data objects. Create data transformation data standards for projects and at times, for the overall Enterprise Create appropriate documentation regarding a customer's data and model structure Review existing database deployments for data model alignment and catalog what data does for each reviewed/in scope system Provide input on data modeling for new data structures Construct data decomposition diagrams, data flows and data context diagrams Assist technical leads in the creation of analysis tools Continually recommend improvements to data modeling techniques Attend industry events and instructional conferences to maintain a strong understanding of new market developments and areas within, that would benefit from innovations. A degree in Library Science or a related field Advanced knowledge of data object architecture, data governance principles and best practices 3 plus years experience, managing or analyzing data models, preferably Data Objects, in an Academic or Enterprise environment Willingness to travel occasionally to a customers location to provide onsite reviews, and advice regarding the integrity of a customers digital data objects and the customers data model
