4 Easy Steps to Apply Now is the time for Winter or Spring 1. Complete the enrollment application Apply online at No application fee. 2. Take the placement tests Walk-in hours: Monday Thursday 10 a.m. 5:30 p.m. Friday 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Saturday 9 11 a.m. Upon arrival check in with the Admissions office (A101). Photo ID is required to take the placement test(s). Testing may begin anytime during the walk-in hours. Check the college calendar at for holidays and other closures. Your SAT and ACT scores may exempt you from testing. For more placement testing details, visit 3. Tuition payment is due three weeks before classes begin. Class registration continues until the start date based on space availability. Within three weeks of the start date tuition is due upon registration. Students are responsible for course registration and tuition payment. Tuition is always due by the deadline. 6 Financing Your Education It all starts with the FAFSA It s not too late to complete the Free Application for Federal State Aid (FAFSA)! Now is the time to apply for the spring 2016 semester and the fall 2016 semester. Please follow the steps below. 1. Gather tax information for the most recent tax year. 2. Collect W-2 and 1099 forms 3. Complete the appropriate FAFSA based on your enrollment 4. Carroll Community College s School Code is Spring 2016: Visit and complete the FAFSA Fall 2016: Beginning January 1, 2016 visit and complete the FAFSA Need help filing? Contact the Financial Aid Office at Scholarship Opportunities for The Carroll Community College Foundation offers scholarships which differ each year and are governed by contributions of individuals, corporations, and local organizations. Scholarship awards vary in amounts and are available to new (including transferring from another college) and returning students. 7 Too Busy for College? Try Our Accelerated Courses or Earn a Degree Online! Carroll has offered online courses in a variety of formats for over 10 years. Online courses include fully online as well as hybrid courses, which employ a mix of online and face-to-face learning. All General Education requirements and electives are offered completely online. The college offers a variety of courses in various disciplines that satisfy the degree requirements. Courses in the humanities, sciences, English, math, health, education and more are all available fully online. You will have access to the same support services as if you were on campus, including library resources and academic tutoring. Students who wish to pursue the online degree should consult an academic advisor for more information and to determine if online learning is right for them. 12 PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT Multimedia Design Offers Many Career Options The Multimedia Design program prepares students for a creative and fulfilling career in some of the design field s most high-profile jobs. Students develop their skills in manipulating images and information by blending a variety of sources such as audio, video, still graphics, and animation. Students are exposed to industry standard computer applications and various state-of-the-art technologies. This degree prepares students for a variety of dynamic career opportunities such as a web designer, videogame designer, mobile application developer, and more. 13 PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT Living Classroom Prepares Strong Teacher Candidates 1. Collaboration with established school partners gives students the opportunity to enter a classroom and work with a mentor teacher from the onset of their first education class, rather than later at their transfer baccalaureate program. Settings include the college s Child Development Center, Carroll County Public Schools, Head Start and private early learning centers. 2. The on-campus Lab School enables students to see how course content applies to child development, teaching, and learning in the classroom studio and childcare center. Students can pursue degrees in early childhood, elementary, middle school, secondary education and special education. 3. Education faculty members advise students through their academic pathways and mentor leadership opportunities to foster growth and development as successful teacher candidates. The Education Department offers MSDE approved courses for teacher certification and renewal. Tuition, Fees and Books Funding for Credentialed Child Care Providers! The Maryland State Department of Education/ Office of Child Care provides funding through the Child Care Career and Professional Development Fund Award to credentialed child care providers who wish to pursue a college degree in early childhood education, education for children, child development, family studies or related disciplines. Participate in the Maryland Child Care Credential program at Level Two or higher. Maintain employment in child care in the State of Maryland while participating in the fund. Agree to complete Service Requirement (work) in the child care field in the State of Maryland for at least 10 hours per week after completion of degree and/or withdrawal from the Fund. 14 PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT CYBER Can You Hack It? Certificate in Network Security The Network Security program is designed to prepare students for a career in computer network security and administration, computer repair and support or related field. The program provides a well-rounded base of knowledge and skills including computer networking and network security, network analysis, computer repair and support, and operating systems. The program incorporates a combination of classroom instruction, industry certification preparation and internship opportunities to provide an effective career preparation experience. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be prepared to sit for the following industry certifications exams: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), among others. Engineering Options are Available If you are interested in engineering, Carroll offers three options: Associate of Science in Engineering (ASE) for Computer Engineering, Associate of Science (ASE) in Engineering for Electrical Engineering and Associate of Arts, Arts and Sciences degree in general engineering for all other engineering disciplines. These programs allow engineering students to complete most, if not all, of the requirements for the first two years of a four-year engineering program.
