1 ElectroniCast Consultants Fiber Optic Installation Apparatus Global Market Forecast and Analysis (2015) This proposal describes the scheduled market forecast and analysis study report by ElectroniCast. The study will provide a comprehensive report of the worldwide consumption of inside and outside plant fiber optic installation apparatus (FOIA) products. Competitive analysis of the major vendors of passive optical connectivity products for fiber optic installation apparatus will also be provided. The increasing telecom traffic, both nationally and internationally, prompted service providers to upgrade and expand their infrastructures in order to accommodate the unprecedented growth in bandwidth demand. Most of the major public telephone operators (PTOs) have deployed national fiber backbones and inter-exchange links in order to attract international business to their respective countries. Most of the industrialized nations have completed or are in the process of completing construction of their backbone fiber networks and are now phasing in local loop links. For local network deployment, businesses are targeted in the initial phase (fiber to the office, fiber to the curb), then finally fiber to the home. Depending on the country, optical fiber in the local area access is either all the way to the building (single unit or multiple dwelling unit/mdu, to the business, etc), or to the other (opposite) extreme optical fiber is still outside of the country or at the fringes of the country s border. The complexity of broadband communication interconnect will increase exponentially over the next decade and beyond, driving strong demand for fiber optics, enabling new revenue for both Business services and Residential services. The ultimate result will be a tremendous increase in communication capacity available to subscribers. As optical fiber use migrates closer and closer to the end user, where cable lengths are shorter with higher fiber counts, the requirements for jointing fibers becomes more critical. Splicing and connecting, play a significant role in a network s cost and performance. Amidst declining prices and market uncertainty in some parts of the global economy, several major acquisitions took place over the last several years. In addition to resource consolidation, there will be continued effort by passive optical connectivity product companies to move toward efficient manufacturing of standard product, to accelerate product development (low cost, smaller, simpler to install), pursue joint ventures with OEMs, and find ways to offer endto-end solutions. 2 The growing demand for smaller, easier to use and more affordable interconnect products represents a growth opportunity for fiber optic installation apparatus product suppliers. Partnerships among interconnect and equipment/ active component manufacturers are becoming critical for broader implementation of fiber in private and in the public communication networks. A growing segment of the market, particularly premise data application, depends on an involved distribution network consisting of distributors and value added providers such as cable assembly houses who then sell to installers. Successful fiber optic connectivity manufacturers keep a close tab on their major end users and installers and their specific requirements. The globalization of markets is bringing about internationalization of standards that, in turn, will pave the way for cabling component vendors to sell to a broader and bigger market. Some of the major structured cabling standards include EIA/TIA 568, CSA T529 (North America), International Standards Organization - ISO 11801, EN50173 (Europe), and AS/NZS 3080 (Australia). Fiber to the x (FTTx) is a generic term for any broadband network architecture using optical fiber to replace all or part of the usual metal local loop used for last-mile telecommunications. The term is a generalization for several configurations of fiber deployment, ranging from FTTN (fiber to the neighborhood) to FTTD (fiber to the desk). To promote consistency, especially when comparing Fiber to the Home (FTTH) penetration rates between countries, the three FTTH Councils of Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific agreed upon definitions for FTTH and FTTB. Enterprise optical communication network cabling systems within data centers are similar to those in commercial office buildings in several ways, for example: their design, installation, and maintenance are dictated industry standards. Market Review/Forecast: This report provides the Consumption Value (US$, million), Quantity (number/units), and Average Selling Prices (ASP $, each). The value is determined by multiplying the number of units by the average selling price. The ASPs are based on the price of the pertinent product at the initial factory level.
