3 Strengths of the SBS MBA Programs International Diversity We are truly focused on the world. The SBS student body and faculty is highly international hailing from all around the world. We offer our participants an experience that prepares them to operate with ease across borders and cultures in an environment that prizes diversity and the ability to bring a worldwide perspective to the business study. Students From the very beginning of SBS in the late 1990s the MBA programs have been steadily growing. Most participants are in the age brackets. They come from a wide variety of organizations and have very diverse educational backgrounds. Women account for approximately 40% of the total student body. Foreign student enrolment amounts to over 60%. A considerable effort is made to constantly attract highly qualified students. Faculty SBS is known for passionate teaching and academic excellence, and we have assembled a faculty that is superbly skilled in teaching and professional practice. They are experts in their fields who are up-to-speed with the latest trends in management, entrepreneurship, international business, financial markets, marketing and technology. Our lecturers teach a curriculum that facilitates handson learning opportunities: entrepreneurial projects, total quality management improvements, international studies courses, and internships. Teaching is valued highly. The curriculum includes case method and instructor-directed courses, and emphasizes classroom interaction. Classes are kept relatively small to keep an optimized studentlecturer ratio. Student evaluations average above 4 on a 1-5 scale. 5 Admissions Candidates seeking admission to the MBA program hold a bachelor s degree or equivalent from a recognized educational institution. All MBA candidates must have a sound command of the English language, spoken and written. The final decision concerning the acceptance into the MBA program rests with SBS Swiss Business School. Transfers SBS Swiss Business School welcomes students who want to transfer from recognized educational institutions around the world. It is the responsibility of the student to have all official transcripts sent to the Admissions Office at SBS Swiss Business School. The admissions officer will decide on the transfer of credits based on the results of each subject. Credits can only be transferred for courses completed with grades of B or higher. Housing An up-to-date listing of available housing facilities is available at Student Visa SBS helps students with visa formalities and assists them in the process of obtaining a student visa in Switzerland. Health Insurance Note: The Swiss law requires all international students to have health insurance coverage. SBS has a health insurance policy for its international students. Candidates are responsible for arranging their own insurance policy. The GMAT score is just one of many criteria considered in your application: a high score does not guarantee admission, and a lower score does not necessarily eliminate an applicant. Please note that applicants to the Executive MBA program must have a minimum of five years professional experience. Applicants to the MBA and Flex MBA programs must have a minimum of two years professional experience. Places are offered on a continuing basis. The evaluation process requires about two weeks. We use five main points of reference: the conclusion reached by the interviewer, reasons for wanting to attend the MBA/EMBA course, academic and professional qualifications, exam scores, business career to date and comments from references. Program Offerings The Full-Time MBA at SBS is divided in the following Four Terms and can be completed within 50 effective school weeks: Term 1 - Core Subjects Term 2-3 core subjects and 2 specialization courses Term 3-2 core subjects and 3 specialization courses based on individual student s major Term 4 - Independent research and study Students can start at any Term. Term 1 end of September, Term 2 beginning of January and Term 3 in mid-march. Flex MBA: In today s dynamic marketplace, successful managers must be innovative and entrepreneurial, combining a general knowledge of business functions with specific skills in their area of responsibility. The Flex MBA program (modular Master of Business Administration) is designed for professionals who are not able to follow the full-time MBA. It is a blended learning format, where students prepare for a three-day on-site seminar, in their own time, wherever they are. The courses are held once a month on campus from Friday to Sunday. This gives the participants to meet with the lecturer and the peer students. The Flex MBA Program can be completed within 15 months. 9 Tuition Fees All fees are calculated in Swiss Francs (CHF) and refer to all graduate programs. Full-time MBA program Application fee Payment upon acceptance 3, First term 9, Second term 9, Third term 9, Total fee: 32, Flex MBA Application fee Payment upon acceptance 3, Fees per course, at 15 courses 1, Total fee: 32, Tuition fees for the Online MBA and Executive MBA are listed in the respective Program Brochure. Payments Students are required to pay the tuition fees before the start of each term or course seminar. The tuition fees for all graduate programs include books, handouts, exams and course material. In order to meet the graduation requirements, students should have no financial obligations to SBS Swiss Business School. All tuition fees are to be paid in Swiss Francs (CHF). Tuition Refund In case of withdrawal, tuition fees will be refunded as follows: 90% within the first two weeks after registration 50% within the third week after registration 0% after the third week from registration In exceptional cases and after having obtained special approval, SBS Swiss Business School will consider full refund. Graduation Requirements In order to graduate, students must meet the following criteria: Complete all courses subject to the program including the Independent Research Project, Maintain a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 which is equivalent to a B, Have no financial obligations to SBS Swiss Business School. Candidates who successfully complete the Full-Time MBA, the Flex MBA, or the Online MBA program will be awarded a Master of Business Administration degree from SBS Swiss Business School. Candidates who successfully complete the Executive MBA program will be awarded an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from SBS Swiss Business School. The ECTS system The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a standard for comparing the study attainment and performance of students of higher education across the European Union and other collaborating European countries. For successfully completed studies, ECTS credits are awarded. One academic year corresponds to 90 ECTS-credits that are equivalent to hours of study in all countries irrespective of standard or qualification type and is used to facilitate transfer and progression throughout the European Union. 9

12 How to find us? Zurich has been consistently ranked as one of the top cities for quality of life and voted 7th best student city worldwide. Airport By Public Transportation The train station Kloten Balsberg can be reached from Zurich Main Station with Zurich s rapid transit system line S7 direction Winterthur. Kloten Balsberg is a three-minute walk from SBS. There are bus connections (the bus stop is located in front of the SBS building) to Zurich Airport. Glattbrugg, Kloten, Oerlikon, and other places in the Zurich North area, the best connected region by public transportation nationwide.
