Application Screening will be based on the application documents and also an oral examination and interview over the Internet will be held. Eligibility Applicants must meet both the requirements for institutional eligibility and academic eligibility described in (A) and (B) below. (A) Requirements for Institutional Eligibility [Common to Master s Program and Doctoral Program] Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (1) Applicants must be a scholar of the Japanese government (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, or Science and Technology). (2)Applicants must be a student delegated by a foreign government or similar body. (3)Applicants must be recognized by the Graduate School Steering Committee as a person who meets ether of the requirements of (1) or (2) above. 1

2 (B) Requirements for Academic Eligibility [April Enrollment] [Master's Program-April Enrollment] Applicants must be non-japanese citizens and also fall into one of the following categories (1) - (3). (1)Those who have completed, or are expected to complete by March 31, 2016, 16 years of school education outside Japan. (2)Those who have completed, or are expected to complete by March 31, 2016, 16 years of school education by taking correspondence courses offered by a school in a foreign country or countries while residing in Japan. (3)Those who are 22 years old or older as of March 31, 2016, whom the Graduate School has recognized, through screening of entrance qualifications, as having academic abilities that are equivalent to those who have graduated from a university. (Note)Those on whom a Bachelor s degree from a Japanese university has been conferred or is expected to be conferred by March,, 2016,, are not qualified to apply for the Special Selection for International Scholarship Students.. Instead, they should be apply for the general selection examination. [Doctoral Program-April Enrollment] Those who have completed 16 years of school education outside Japan and meet any of the requirements from (1) to (3). (1)Those who have obtained, or are expected to obtain a Master s degree by March 31, (2)Those who have been conferred, or are expected to be conferred, a degree corresponding to a Master s degree outside Japan by March 31, (3)Those who are 24 years old or older as of March 31, 2016, whom the Graduate School has recognized, through screening of entrance qualifications, as having academic abilities equivalent to having obtained a Master s degree. 2

4 4. Application Procedures Applications must be submitted by mail through EMS (Express Mail Service) to the Administrative Office. Enclose all documents for submission in an envelope (which you must provide), and submit it before the application deadline. Specify your name, address, and postal code on the back of the envelope. On the pull-out Address Card by the School, fill in your name (use only the applicant s name), address, and postal code (for applicant s name only) at which you want to receive the Notification of acceptance and any other admission-related documents. *If the address is the same as the contact address in Form 1, you don't need to write in this form. Clearly print a statement of your research plan on the included form designated by the School for which you are applying. *State your reasons for application as specified in the form. *Before applying, you must contact the professor by whom you wish to be supervised. Application Guidelines for any International Scholarships which you have applied for. Submit documents which prove that you have been awarded or will be awarded a scholarship to study in Japan. Submit a copy of the pages in their passport that show the passport holder s photograph and passport expiration date. *After submitting all application documents, only o those who were accepted that there is qualification for taking this examination need to pay an examination fee as follows. Qualifications Notes After submission of the application, no examination fees will be returned, and no changes to documents will be accepted, under any circumstances. If a false statement is found in the documents, authorization of admission will be revoked. After submission of the application, no documents will be returned. As for those who have taken the examination under the condition that they meet the application qualifications, but are found to be unqualified, authorization for admission will be revoked even if they have passed the examination.
