Through this new tool, veterans will have access to institutional data based on the Department of Education s IPEDS database including: a school s graduation rates loan default rates median student debt veteran specific indicators such the school s participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program Inside this issue: Housing Fair 2 Coffee Breaks 2 Campus Events 3 A Sammy Seahawk Suggestion 3 Lejeune Job Expo 4 compliance with the Principles of Excellence, and the number of GI Bill beneficiaries at the institution Using a number of variables -- the user s Post-9/11 active duty service, current military status, whether they plan to take online courses, and the institution they are interested in attending -- the GI Bill Comparison Tool also generates the veteran s estimated housing allowance and book stipend. This GI Bill Comparison Tool is a step towards helping veterans use their federal benefits in a smarter, more economical way. Increasing access to consumer education tools is but one component of SVA s strategic advocacy efforts aimed at supporting student veterans to and through higher education.
