7 Placement Team The evaluation and determination to place the student in C.O.M.P.A.S.S. will be made by a placement team appointed by the principal. The placement team will consist of school personnel knowledgeable of the student s behavior and educational performance including but not limited to: Administrator Counselor / Dean Teachers, if appropriate Designee from Alternative School Professionals that may be working with the student
8 Eligible Students Intend to withdraw or have withdrawn from school before graduation; Have failed to comply academically and would benefit from instruction offered in a manner different from the manner of instruction available in a traditional school; Are parents or an expectant parents and are unable to regularly attend the traditional school program; Are employed and the employment is necessary for support and interferes with a part of student's instructional day; or Are disruptive (as defined in IC ).
9 Highland Middle School Entrance Criteria The student meets three (3) of the following criteria: Has repeated at least one grade Was absent more than 10% during the preceding semester. Has an overall grade point average that is less than 2.0 on a 4.0 scale Has failed two or more academic subjects in the previous semester Has been in an alternative setting previously Has a discipline record as a transfer student upon enrollment
10 Highland Middle School Entrance Criteria Or, the student meets one (1) of the following criteria: Is referred by a court or governmental agency Is a previous dropout Has extensive personal, emotional, behavioral or medical problems Has substance abuse issues
11 Anderson High School Entrance Criteria Unsuccessful in HMS SA as 8 th grader Unsuccessful in AHS SA as 9 th grader Double negative -behavior and academic (grades 9-12) Accumulation of more than three (3) OSS s or Detention School Assignments
