10 Integrated System Functions Intesa Sedona controllers include built-in system functions for scheduling, alarming and trend logging which integrate fully with Niagara AX. This enables local self-sufficient control networks, which can execute a range of features for standalone use or interface up to the Niagara level for further integration, analysis or documentation. These alarms are logged and can be visualized and acknowledged via an alarm console. Integration into the Niagara AX alarm management allows to record alarms and route them to various locations: Central Alarm Console, , SMS and printers and so forth. Trend logging Logged data is saved in ring buffers with configurable capacity. Special Sedona views allow observation of recorded data in table and chart formats. A periodic import of the recorded data into Niagara AX histories is possible, enabling long-term logging, data analysis, and reporting. Scheduling Schedule components are based on a weekly schedule with prioritized exception plans while calendar comonents interpret configured dates and date ranges. Dedicated scheduling views make configuration comfortable. They enable daisy-chain line topology reducing cost for Ethernet infrastructure as well as ring topology with redundancy improving network availability. Scalibur controllers for supervisory applications operating Niagara 3.8 come with two separated Ethernet interfaces for connection to the backbone network (WAN) and to the local control network (LAN). Both Ethernet interfaces have two Ethernet ports for line and ring topologies each. This architecture provides a maximum degree of freedom for topology layout. Even in conventional star topologies the free Ethernet ports will be of great value for maintenance purposes when a local connection to the network is needed. Security The Scalibur controller with Niagara AX comes with a bundle of secure protocols and two separated Ethernet interfaces. This way Scalibur can act as a proper gate between two totally separate networks: The unsecure Internet sphere, using secure protocols such as FOXS and HTTPS The trustable local network, in which unsecure control protocols can be used Our Sedona Controllers are ready for direct connection to the Internet. They provide visualization access via HTTPS. Intesanet In an Intesa system, Sedona controllers Scalibur and SCC can communicate one with each other using IntesaNet. This provides a simple, direct, fast and highly reliable communication path for process signals between Sedona Controllers. It enables flat multi Sedona controller solutions integrated in a full featured Niagara AX environment. Moreover this even works without Niagara AX integration. 11

12 System Integration for Energy Efficiency Comprehensive, networked infrastructure in a decentralized architecture down to room level along with analytics capabilities are the ideal combination for every building automation system (BAS), resulting with significant expenses cut, maximal energy efficiency and optimal user comfort. Room automation: System layout The Value of Integrated Room Automation Intesa field devices make seamless BAS integration available and affordable, providing data from room level including lighting, blind control, HVAC, presence detection and weather data. These systems can work together to provide sophisticated control logic. Each room is handled as a singular entity, based on sensor data and distinct requirements. Supervisory functions for scheduling, trend logging and alarming can be performed on a higher level, enabling local flexibility while allowing a higher viewpoint on a larger scale of requirements. In combination with macro level integration using Niagara, the entire facility is fully connected into one system, top to bottom. An ideal BMS system is designed based on open systems, fully integrated and covering all systems in the facility, all the way down to room level, using data analytics and fault detection in every level of the 12 project. This is a basic requirement for receiving the highest class A of the European standard EN for energy efficiency. 13 Extended Integration of DALI, LonMark and IzoT TM Intesa provides the ideal solution for DALI based lighting control. Its unique advantage is providing a direct DALI control using SysMik s modular Scalibur controllers out of two different frameworks: Niagara AX and Sedona. A full featured Niagara AX DALI configurator and a Niagara independent web based DALI Configurator complement the DALI lighting solution, highly empowering the automation system while being friendly, simple and cost efficient techniques. DALI multi-master allows installation of multi-sensor modules providing occupancy and brightness sensor data and remote control commands. Intesa DALI Lighting SysMik's unique intesa DALI Lighting solution provides direct performant control of DALI ballasts by the local application. As the DALI terminals are part of the modular Inline IO system, each controller may access numerous DALI networks in parallel. Once integrated into Sedona or Niagara, DALI points can make use of all the well-known features of the frameworks. DALI networks are managed in Intesa with the DALI configurator, which is perfectly integrated into the WorkPlace AX engineering tool. It is used to discover DALI networks, assign logical device addresses and configure groups, lighting scenes and ballast specific settings. DALI multi-master terminals provide an additional DALI protocol analyser function. Alternatively, a web based version of the DALI configurator provides the same level of functionality. Integration of LonMark and IzoT TM The Niagara-3.8-version of Scalibur has interfaces for LonMark IP-852 and optionally for LonMark TP/FT-10. Further, Scalibur is IzoT-ready. IzoT is Echelon s IP-enabled platform for the Industrial Internet of Things. It is based upon Power Line and Megabit Free Topology twisted pair MFT technologies. IzoT provides a flexible and powerful fieldlevel infrastructure for IoT applications. 13

16 Intesa Sample Applications Distributed Facilities When managing distributed facilities, the operator has to offer a flexible service and has to optimize the operating costs, while fulfilling the user s requirements. Benchmarking of media and energy consumption values yields useful guidelines regarding how to operate the facilities efficiently. Example: Chain Store automation with INTES (JACE). Web based integrated building management solution (HVAC and lighting control) operated via a touch panel in the chain store dm-drogerie markt ShopInsight by Hörburger AG is a webbased, flexible online management system for collecting, analyzing and optimizing energy and media consumption of the entire technical equipment of a chain store system. From air conditioning or heating to lighting and automatic door control, ShopInsight centralizes all data and functions. Intelligent fault detection allows remote management of the entire chain store system from all over the world and at the same time. The formerly used PLC system has been replaced by INTES devices, which are much better suited for the ever-changing demands of the project and the service business. INTES supports many different device protocols natively (no gateways required). In addition, each data point is accessible throughout the system. Powerful administration and system functions, along with the unified tool base, have an important economic impact on set-up and operation of the projects. Most importantly, a standardized workflow is enabled; although the systems are usually not very complex, but they are all different. As a result, costly on-site service operations have been reduced, and the project engineering especially software maintenance has been greatly improved in terms of efficiency by the built-in remote maintenance. The communication with the portal servers of a branch store is performed via , SMS, or a secured internet connection using web-services and obix, for example. The engineering portal at the installer has access for set-up and service of the branch. Since the beginning of 2011, all new and reconstructed branches of the German drugstore chain dm-drogerie markt have been equipped with ShopInsight (the chain store management system of Hörburger AG). Daikin heat pumps reduce carbon emission by one third. As a result, dm has saved high amounts of energy and the state of the building equipment became more transparent. In addition, the "fully automated branch" reduced the support load from the working staff. 17 Innovative Systems for Renewable Energy Cooling units, geothermal units, solar collectors, or combined heat and power (CHP) systems, often used in combination, are essential for energy efficiency and cost reduction of primary systems. Service and user access Data, , Alarm Energy efficient primary installation Using freely available heat and other diverse energy resources provides significant savings and reduces environmental pollution, while simplifying maintenance tasks and reducing training costs, as well as supporting analytics for overall performance evaluation and improvement. Above all, Intesa establishes a new business model of service management, providing users with remote management services, error diagnosis, extended control functions and much more. Intesa is managing such systems as a whole. By combining important input factors such as demands and weather conditions, involving the underlying subsystems, Intesa is providing a comprehensive control output, thus achieving notable features including: Use of waste heat Creation of energy cycles Reduction of losses in diverse operating modes Use of freely available energy sources Using Intesa, waste heat of cooling units, emitted to the environment via specific geothermal probes can be reused in the geothermal mode. Additionally, the geothermal mode can be supported by solar heat, which functions as preheating. Efficient use of well water allows cooling without employing the cooling units, thus operating the air conditioning system in a free cooling mode. SysMik's customers have successfully installed such Intesa applications around Europe; the applications implemented INTES-6 devices as automation stations for system wide control and modular controllers, connected via BACnet or Sedona, which carry out control tasks in the field level. The freely configurable user permissions allow a flexible facility management on-site or remotely via Internet, , and SMS. Intesa has shown astounding revenue in its applications, resulting in a quick return on investment and high customer satisfaction. 17

18 Innovative Room Automation T-Labs (Telekom Innovation Laboratories) located in Telefunken House (part of TU-Berlin; Berlin Charlottenburg). The floors are organized as open offices with the integration of an innovative desk sharing solution. The control system enables pre-booking of each room and desk-space through a room booking and reservation system (desk sharing system LiteDesk). As part of the booking process, the users can define their preferred room configuration in advance, and the system will automatically set it up accordingly per predefined schedule. State of the Art Automation The rooms and desk spaces offer innovative automated functions. Each user can choose his own optimal lighting effect and room temperature through a website or a smartphone application.
