6 WHY IS SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING IMPORTANT FOR DENTISTS and DENTAL PRACTICES? Social media is now considered to be a marketing best practice. It s a basic component of any marketing plan, and is the predominant method of marketing for all kinds of businesses. Most of your dental patients and prospective patients are already engaging with social media. Most of your dental patients and prospective patients are using the internet when they want to search for information about your or your competition. Your social media presence is important for both human readers AND for search engines! Your presence on social media will strengthen your search engine rankings. (continued)

7 WHY IS SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING IMPORTANT FOR DENTISTS and DENTAL PRACTICES (continued) Aside from using it to marketing your practice, it s another way for your dental practice to be helpful to your patients. You can post news, information, and resources easily and quickly. Compared with other media, it s inexpensive and it s fast. Patients, friends, colleagues can easily share information about your practice with their friends easily. It s a great way for your practice to stay in touch with the dental industry. Social media is a way to engage with a tribe of people who have already self-selected to follow you!

8 BEST PRACTICES A great website is fundamental for your dental business. Use social media as a way to drive traffic to your website. Create a policy for your practice. Whose responsibility is it to maintain, what s the voice, who posts, what may they post, etc. Keep it fresh. Post new content on a regular basis. Engage in casual and authentic conversation. Include images when possible. Include links as appropriate. Cross link. It doesn t have to be perfect. Add value beyond promoting your practice.

9 4 WAYS THAT YOU CAN USE SOCIAL MEDIA TO EXPAND YOUR DENTAL PRACTICE Build a community of devoted followers that influence prospective patients. Social media is like word-of-mouth on steroids. Raise your visibility as the go-to expert by sharing articles, answers to questions, and video information. Use social media to get patient feedback. Use social media for special deals and promotions.
