3 What Is Time-Varying Pricing? Time-Varying Pricing is an umbrella term for Time-of-Use and Peak Day Pricing Business electric prices will vary by time of day Time of Day Time of Day Price of Electricity 3
4 Time-of-Use (Summer: May - October) Off-Peak Lowest energy costs Late evening / Early morning Weekends and Holidays Partial-Peak Late morning Early evening On-Peak Weekday afternoons Highest costs for electric energy usage Off-peak Partial-peak On-peak Partial-peak Off-peak Cost per kwh Current Flat Rate (Non-Varying) Electric energy costs vary with time of day 4

7 Peak Day Pricing Event Triggers System-wide Peak Day Pricing event could be triggered by: Temperatures at or above 98 F on weekdays or 105 F on weekends & holidays; or California ISO declares emergency conditions; or Extremely high market prices; or Testing / evaluation purposes Notification of events will be communicated via , phone call and/or e-page by 2:00 pm the day before 7
8 Peak Day Pricing Advantages Bill Protection allows Peak Day Pricing customers to participate risk-free for the first year. Maximum potential cost savings Bill Protection offered once Credit if Peak Day Pricing exceeds Time-of-Use Pricing Helps customers learn to: Incorporate energy use scheduling Shift demand outside peak days and hours Accommodate energy costs changing from month to month 8
