1 1 University of Iowa Clinical Psychology Program Data Summary: Applications, Admissions, and Attrition (see Table 1 for year-by-year data) In the past 10 years (beginning with applications for matriculation in Fall 2000), our program has received an average of 115 applications, admitted an average of 11.3 students, and had an average class size of 5.5 students, 32% of whom have been ethnic minority students. Admitted students had an average undergraduate GPA of 3.71 (A-), and their mean/median GRE scores have been 631/ 627 (V), 715/ 712 (Q), 5.3/ 5.3 (Analytic Writing, beginning 2003), 710/ 721 (Analytic, ). Over this same period, a total of 55 students entered the program and 7 students (13%) left the program. These figures include one student who entered and left the program twice. Counting this student only once, the corresponding figures are 54 entered and 6 (11.1%) attrited. Students have left the program for the following reasons: change in area within psychology (3 [2 at another institution, 1 at UI]), change in career interest (2), personal/family reasons (2). Summary: Time to Degree (see Table 2 and Figs. 2a & 2b for year-by-year data) In the past 10 years (September, 1999 through August, 2009), 40 students have received their Ph.D. degree from our program. Their mean time from program entrance to the awarding of the degree was 7 years, 4 months, and the median time 7 years, including internship. Rounding to the nearest year, 45% of students completed the program in 6 years, 30% in 7 years (75% cumulatively), 17.5% in 8 years (92.5% cumulatively), and only 7.5% took more than 8 years. Again, these figures all include the internship year. Program Costs for the Current ( ) First-year Cohort of Students For , full-time tuition + fees = $3,420 / per semester ($303 per semester hour, SH) Part-time students: Tuition = $380 per SH (up to 9 SH, minimum 2 SH) Health Fee = 5+ SH = 100%; 0-4 SH = 0% All other fees = 0-3 SH, 50%; 4-8 SH, 75% Tuition remission for TAs/RAs is $2,615 /semester, for a net cost of $1,108 /semester. Two of our entering class have fellowships of full tuition and fees, plus 12-month stipends of $23,500 and $21,500, respectively. The third has a TA- or RA-ship with a 9-month stipend of $16,575.

2 2 Summary: Internships (see Table 3 for year-by-year data) In the past 8 years (for internships beginning in the academic year through the present year), 30 students in our program have applied for internship. All but three students matched to a full-time, paid, APA-approved program on APPIC match day. Two of the three students matched in the Clearinghouse in the year of application, one to an APA-approved program and the other to a new internship in the final stages of obtaining APA approval. The third student matched the following year to the APA-approved program that s/he had ranked first in both years. Professional Licensure Information, Past 10 years Graduates Summary: In the past 10 years, 40 students have graduated from our program, 38 (95%) of whom we were able to contact to obtain information about professional licensure. Of the 38, 18 (47.4%) are licensed. Average time from graduation to obtaining licensure is 1.7 years (median = 1.7 years). Of the 20 not licensed, (a) 7 (35%, 19% of total) said that they were not pursuing licensure because it was not required by their current employment (e.g., academic research/ teaching positions); (b) 6 (30%, 16% of total), all of whom were within 1 year of graduation, said they had not yet made up their mind whether or not to pursue licensure; (c) the remaining 7 (35%, 19% of total) who remain unlicensed ranged from 1 to 7 years post graduation and said that they were pursuing or likely would pursue licensure. They are at various stages of this process, ranging from still accruing the necessary supervised clinical hours to waiting to receive the final documents. These graduates are an average of 3½ years post-degree (median = 3 years).
