2 Catalogue of Survey publications on Greenland The catalogue was initially released in 1996 under the name of Catalogue of Greenland publications and data in the series Danmarks og Grønlands Geologiske Undersøgelse Rapport as number 1996/114. Compilers/editors: Jane Holst, Esben W. Glendal and Peter R. Dawes Layout: Bent Katz Cover photo: Ole Johnsen Cover design: Henrik Klinge Pedersen Illustrations: Annabeth Andersen, Margareta Christoffersen, Henrik Klinge Pedersen, Kristian A. 3 Statement on the contents of this catalogue This catalogue contains a nearly complete listing of publications on Greenland issued by the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) and the former Geological Survey of Greenland (GGU, 1946 to 1995). It thus contains both current and discontinued series. The designation nearly complete stems from the fact that some items not part of series and now out of print are not included, for example the Tectonic/geological map of Greenland (1: ) published in 1970 and the 600-page book Geology of Greenland published in The three current geological series of the Survey the peer-reviewed Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland Bulletin and Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland Map Series and the open-file series Danmarks og Grønlands Geologiske Undersøgelse Rapport contain material relating to all parts of the Kingdom of Denmark (Denmark, Faroe Islands and Greenland), as well to other countries where the Survey has activities. Only those volumes dealing with Greenland-related topics are cited in this catalogue and thus the numbering of these series is not consecutive. In 2002, the Survey entered into a formalised cooperation with other institutions when Geocenter Copenhagen was established (from 2006 changed into Geocenter Denmark). From 2007 this cooperation is with two institutes of the University of Copenhagen: the Geological Museum and the Department of Geography and Geology. In 2005, the Geocenter launched a popular scientific series in Danish, Geoviden Geologi og Geografi that replaced Geologi Nyt fra GEUS which was produced by the Survey between 1996 and Titles of articles pertaining to Greenland from this new series are included in this catalogue (section 13.1). In 2007, the official name of the national geological survey was changed to De Nationale Geologiske Undersøgelser for Danmark og Grønland (GEUS). However, the Survey s former name Danmarks og Grønlands Geologiske Undersøgelse is retained in the name of the Survey s open-file series (Danmarks og Grønlands Geologiske Undersøgelse Rapport, section 2.1). As the name is long and somewhat cumbersome in both languages, it is for many purposes shortened to the official abbreviation GEUS, derived from the Danish name for a geological survey (GEologisk UnderSøgelse). 4
