Clncal Evaluaton: A. Clncal laboratory: The clncal laboratory s an extenson of the classroom. The grade, as determned by use of the clncal evaluaton tool, s ether satsfactory (S) or unsatsfactory (U). Unsatsfactory performance n the clncal practce wll result n a falure (F) n the course. All assgnments are to be submtted on assgned dates. Wrtten Assgnments should meet the standards requred of college students. Computerzed Patent Care Nursng Plan Students wll submt two Nursng Care Plans (NCP) that reflect prmary, secondary and tertary care, use of crtcal thnkng and a thorough use of the nursng process. The College wll pay the cost of ths drug test. f the second drug test s negatve, the student wll be released from further acton and wll be assgned to another clncal faclty. However, f the second drug test s postve, the student wll be dsmssed from the nursng program. Pertnent documentaton regardng postve drug test results and dsmssal wll be entered nto the student's fle. f the student tests postve for a prescrbed drug, the student must obtan a wrtten statement from a qualfed physcanhealthcare provder statng that the drug level s wthn prescrbed lmts and that the level does not ndcate abuse. The physcdhealthcare provder must also state that the drug wll not nterfere wth safe practce n the clncal area. Letters from the physcdhealthcare provder wll become part of the student's fle. Note: f a student knows that the urne toxcology test wll be postve for certan llegal drugs because of takng a prescrbed medcaton, the student should take the prescrpton bottle to the afflatng agency on the day of the drug test to let the agency know ths. 7. Electronc Communcaton Devces Electronc communcaton devces, such as cellular telephones and pagers, must be set to slent mode at all tmes n the clncal area. The use of electronc communcaton devces s to be lmted to emergency stuatons only. Students may not use a cellular telephone n the clncal area. Cameras (ncludng a cellular telephone wth a camera), palm plots, tape recorders, and other recordng devces are not to be used n the clncal area for recordng dentfable clent data or mages. 8. Professonal Behavor: The Nursng Department has certan expectatons of behavor whle representng the Nursng Program of Borough of Manhattan Communty College at any clncal agency. Students must conduct themselves n a professonal manner as to reflect favorably upon themselves and the Program they represent. Students are expected to assume responsblty for ther actons and wll be held accountable for them. f at any tme a student behaves n a nanner whch s napproprate, unprofessonal, dsrespectful, argumentatve, or endangers the health or safety of fellow students, nstructors, clents, and the health care team, they wll be dscplned for unprofessonal conduct at the dscreton of the Nursng Department accordng to the "Student Dscplne Procedures" as outlned n the BMCC Bulletn and admnstered through the Offce of Student Affars. Health nsurance Portablty Accountablty Act (HPAA): The Health nsurance Portablty' Accountablty Act (HPAA) requres that all protected health nformaton (PH) be kept prvate and secure by all persons that - - handle, or have access to, that nformaton. Snce nursng students and faculty use PH as part of the educatonal process, all nursng students must complete an onlne HPAA Tranng Program to reman n complance wth HPAA regulatons. Students wll not be allowed to enter the clncal area untl ths tranng has been completed.
