9 Michigan Conrad 30 J-1 Waiver Program International Medical Graduate, A Physician who graduated from a medical school outside of the U.S. J-1 Visa educational exchange visitor. (Holds a Medical Degree and/or foreign medical license.) Is certified by the Educational Commission on Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) as being ready to enter a U.S. residency or fellowship program. Demonstrated English language fluency is part of the certification process Passed Step 1, 2 and 3 of USMLE Must hold or be eligible to apply for a state license in Michigan

10 J-1 Waiver Priority Criteria 1. Priority is given to safety net providers: County Health Departments Community Mental Health Centers State Correctional Facilities Free Clinics Federally Qualified Health Centers Critical Access Hospitals Certified Rural Health Clinics 2. Preference is given to outpatient based Primary Care, Obstetrics/Gynecology and Psychiatry Hospitalist and Specialist applications are considered for slots remaining after Priority Criteria applications have been determined. 3. Preference is given to work sites in shortage areas (HPSA, MUA/MUP).

11 Conrad 30 Program Requirements 3 year employment contract 40 hours per week at the site. Begin work within 90 days of Federal approval. Must practice 100% of the contract in the specialty stated in the contract. License to practice in Michigan. Employer must pay prevailing wage. Applications are available upon written request. 14 Advanced Practice Providers NURSE PRACTITIONER Two years post graduate but program will vary in length if not a full time student. May practice independently if supervising physician is available by phone. 12 programs in Michigan offer APN degrees. Nurse Practitioners Clinical Nurse Specialists Nurse Anesthesia

15 Advanced Practice Providers NURSE PRACTITIONER DNP Doctor of Nursing Practice Prepares APN to provide clinical, organizational and system s leadership at the highest level. 9 Michigan colleges and universities offer DNP programs.
